In the spring when they start growing again just dig around one of the new extras bines and snip it off a couple inches below the dirt and put it in some soil in a one gallon bucket and keep it moist. That's what I do, plant them in the ground after they get established, it takes a year for them to produce a usable quantity of hops. They will spread like crazy so I put them in a big container.

Was there ever a follow-up video with this?
@DrHansBrewery2 жыл бұрын
No it wasn't. Some of the plants I gave away to friends, the rest where sold at BrewGoat. I got send some pictures from peoples gardens showing theire plants. The growed fine. But of course most likely didn't give any cones the first year.

I'm going to use this method on a plant I found growing wild near me. Worth putting it into a pot to see what happens as I expect the farmer to cut it down over the summer.

My friend how long will it generally take for a clone to produce cones?
@DrHansBrewery3 жыл бұрын
It depends of course on a lot of factors. Maybe some cones the same year. But more likely the year after to have a more decent crop.

@@DrHansBrewery thank you.....I cloned a nugget hops watching your video. The clone had grown to around 15 feet and heavy leaves, very healthy plant. It’s growing side bines acting like it’s soon to produce some cone. The mother plant did cone some the first harvest so I hope this one does as well

Where do I get cuttings from?
@DrHansBrewery4 жыл бұрын
Cuttings you get from an actual plant. If you don’t know anyone who grows hops you have to look for hop rhizomes or a hop plant.

In the early spring look online and you can find different varieties of cuttings for sale. That's where I got mine. They will spread like crazy so plant them in a big container.
