Actually we did this show about a year back at my school and our newspaper decided to write an article about the production. There was a big picture on the front page and it was titled: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat. They made a typo and didn't realize it lol. My cast thought it was so funny we made a FB page about it and posted memes with Joseph photo shopped on boats, the Titanic, etc. Best thing ever.

This only confirms what I've always known about Donny Osmond, an outstanding gift of voice. Also one of the nicest guys in show business. I never understood why people give the Osmonds a hard time about being squeaky clean, etc. All of them worked their asses off, spit polished their shows to perfection. I have nothing but respect for the Osmond Family. Well done!

For those of you that have ever done theatre (especially long running shows) you know that it can get kind of boring doing the same show night after night after night after night... Well, different troupes come up with different games to play to spice up life. Donny Osmond's cast passed around a little toy Gumby. You couldn't refuse it, and the last person to have it at the end of the show, lost. One night Donny got Gumby passed to him right before this scene. With barely any costume to hide him in. At one point he was grasping the bars, singing this serious, depressing song, with Gumby staring back at him. He said it was *very* hard for him to not burst out laughing.

+Wayne Werner I haven't been in any shows that play more than 3 times, but I will admit to pulling at least one stage prank similar to what you just mentioned... I was in a production of Seussical the Musical, and there's one scene (while Horton is in the tree) that the Cat in the Hat comes around with an empty water gun to "spray" him and make him miserable... I may or may not have been the one who filled it with water during the matinee show ;) Hilariously enough, nobody had gotten around to emptying it for the evening show! ~Shannon

Never been in shows with more than 4 performances however in my senior year performance of Oklahoma! I played Jud Fry and my friends had this obsession with a fake banana that they found backstage so the last night of he show, in the end scene were Jud pulls out his knife to kill Curly, I pulled out the banana. Seeing everybody almost break character as I stood there straight faced holding a prop banana was priceless

John DeLuca in my youth theatre group we put a pineapple in all our shows. I played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and the very last scene where one of the daughters brings her baby, we used a pineapple. It was very hard to keep a straight face, even though I knew it was coming. The other hilarious part was the line where I sang, "When did he get to be so tall?" Our Motel was short - even for a kid, and both Golde and I were 6'+.

I'm not religious and I don't really believe in God, but I love the story of Joseph. This is a great song. I was raised in a very Christian home, so I know these classic Bible stories. Like Adam and Eve, Moses, Joseph, Jesus, the Apostles, Saul, David, Daniel in the lions den, and so on. I loved listening to them as a kid, and I like them now as stories. I don't care about the religious aspect. They're all stories that have lessons we can all learn from, no matter what we believe.

Sorry to keep commenting, but Donny knew this story in his own life...because of dishonest treachery he had NOTHING when he turned 18. Nothing. One of the greatest teen stars ever was destitute. Yet he knew from whence his hope cometh...the God of Israel, whom he worships. May we all learn this lesson...."close every door to me....take those I love from me...[but] children of Israel (those who make eternal covenants with Him) are NEVER ALONE!!!!" If you haven't felt that, you cannot understand the incredible depth of this song and why Andrew Lloyd Webber said only Donny could do the movie...just love this guy.

It still amazes me that Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's first three successful musicals - Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita - all began life as concept albums. I think Joseph took five years to go from a 15 minute piece for a London school to a full stage version (it was only after J.C. Superstar became a success that Webber thought it had a chance). Maybe that's why the songs are so great - because there's no dialogue, the songs really have to tell the story - and the fact that Webber has a great ear for writing terrific melodies.

Donny, my brother, same age, same location, same beliefs, thank you SO much for your example....I watched you up close for many years...even looking up at you standing on a balcony above my friend's apartment when you were courting your wife Debbie, knowing that you were a part of our lives in a strange way...my girlfriend in high school who was from Hong Kong and was a huge worshiping fan in her youth...they thought so much of you and loved you with all their hearts like SO MANY around the world...my first wife having gone to your apartment where you lived with your brothers and you guys coming out, being friendly and signing autographs...watching you as you grew up in grace and stature before your fellow man...you are truly an INSPIRATION to me in my times of darkness and despair...like tonight...GOD bless you Donny, king of beautiful music beyond compare...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's still handsome, has a HOT BODY and his voice is still amazing!!!! This is one of my fav musicals and this particular version beats all the rest. I'm not afraid to admit that I've always been a Donny fan!!! :)

I sang this at work once when my boss asked me to come in over the weekend and do a bunch of end of quarter reports for her. My boss was used to me doing weird things so it didn't phase her. Her only comment was, "Is that a yes or a no?" Yes, I did go in and run her reports.

This has given me chills ever since I watched it on VHS as a child. You can't top this!! I have since played the narrator in Joseph twice in my local theatre communities. :)

While a bit on the emotional side, Donny sings this sad song wonderfully well.

I saw this production as a kidd. It was Donny Osmond then. I have the record. I sang this song over and over again. I couldnt get the song out of my head. I loved it. I really loved the musical "Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat".
