Cam your lawns are amazing both front and back. The Hudson Star has always been on my have to get list. I even reached out to Rob for advice as to which model to get, but never pulled the trigger. One advice to your followers who want to get those amazing stripes in backyard like you have. To avoid wheel marks always get the Big League striping kit at least as wide as the rear wheels or slightly wider. Not a criticism of yours, just a suggestion. Happy Thanksgiving sir. 😎💪🏻

Yeah, i wasn't able to make it down to NC very much this year with the new little one. I may have something in the works for next year to get more IronCutter content. Also, Turf Therapy will be installing it in his lawn next year, so he will have a lot of content on it. Be sure to follow him on his channel. I'm planning to go down and help with the installation.

Best lawn I’ve ever seen, even including in-person! What would you recommend someone to do who has a newly seeded lawn, grass is coming in pretty good, but some areas are really mushy (clay substrate) and the topsoil is dry bc I don’t want to add more water and make it even soggier?

Its ok of the top surface of soil is dry as long as the root zone is moist.

@slashnagy6 that is definitely a factor. Shade and growing grass are not the best conditions. Even mature grass struggles in consistently shady areas. The soil temperature is probably lower in those shady areas, which is also not favorable for growing grass.

Which number do you normally set your drop spreader when seeding?

It depends, there are several variables. It depends on your spreader, the type of seed you are putting down and how much seed you desire to apply per pass. I would say weigh out the seed for your seeding area, start with a lower setting and spread until it's gone. You can adjust along the way if you need want it to apply more or less seed per pass. My last setting I used on my Scott's drop spreader with rygrass was 14.

You could try to avoid mowing if it's going to frost the same night. But to be honest, I don't worry about trying to avoid frost personally. When it gets to the point in the season that you are getting frost, the lawn is shutting down. It's time to let the lawn rest for the winter and go focus on something else. That's my approach.
