Closing Time by Sammy Walker

As good as anything Dylan ever wrote. Need I say more? I think Sammy Walker was TOO much like Early Dylan in his voice which sounded, for his first album (Produced by Phil Ochs, who might have had an agenda.) exactly LIKE Dylan did. That immediately puts a red flag up for record company execs who dont want a "new Dylan" label on an artist. Sammy never sounded like Dylan on any of his subsequent releases but the damage was done. I wasnt there when he recorded the SONG FOR PATTY album but Im betting Ochs was at least thrilled that his protege sounded exactly like his friend/enemy/rival. And its too bad because Mr Walker is as good as anyone.

I think about Sammy every time I hear someone say, "The cream always rises to the top". Sadly, that is NOT always the case, and sometimes LEGENDS fly right under the radar. Maybe one day, somebody "in the scene" will find a Sammy tune, and give it some ears.

Hands down best song on this device, the peoples radio/tv station! Bless you forever Sammy. I will never ever forget you on Lynn Samuels "Part of the Act" and on "Radio Unnameable".
