If someone popped up in my workplace and started messing with me and touching me and tried to explain it as 'we are just making a video' that would just make me angrier. Are you supposed to say 'oh, a video? In that case, go ahead and keep disrespecting me and film it and put it online, please'.

Lawyer is wrong. Best deffence is offence. It does not matter was the offender armed or not, he could have harmed deffender next day. So deffender had the right to get rid of potential threat. Precedent: President of Belarus Lukashenko said that Ukraine wanted to invaide Belarus and he promised to show maps how forced could have strike, and he ordered to bomb innocent people in Ukraine, because they became potential threat to him and his masters (Putin) regime.

@@jackdaniels8105 Yes, I don't think 'the best defence is offence' is a concrete defence in all cases If you react to a perceived future threat in the moment (ie i beat or shot him as he might have returned with a gun tomorrow) you don't really have a defence there.

Yeah, I don’t get it. Seems like even most 13-year-olds would be like “harassing some random stranger just doing their job is funny….how exactly? “. And many of the big time “prank” channels are smart enough to have everything be a pre-planned fake, which many imitators don’t seem to know. The good news is that it can backfire, as several videos that people have posted of themselves harassing some nice employee have met with a huge backlash against the video creator.

I agree. I pretty much hate pranks. I won't lie; when I was in college we committed a few pranks, but they weren't violent or the kind where anyone was scared or felt threatened. This kind of thing just comes off like 2 cool guys picking on someone they think is a need, which is what most pranks are. With these kind of pranks they always pick people they don't think will fight back.

It’s awful how firstly, video-makers seem to have forgotten what a prank is, and secondly, they think that touching stranger’s bodies, stealing their stuff, touching their cars etc, stalking or following them, harassing or swearing at them, preventing them from moving, faking a medical episode, threatening people, and filming them on private property (like this shop)… that somehow if you say, “it’s a prank!” or, “it’s a social experiment!” you’re absolved of all responsibility and suddenly it becomes funny!?!? When this happens, fellow public space employees: Go to the back of the store, get a manager, request security footage to be exported and saved, call the police and file a big stinky complaint on every single one of these people. Lastly, do NOT back out of pressing charges. Ever. Always go through with it, cuz it will be on their records for their next victim to use against them. Do not give them a reaction to put online. Do not talk to them. Give them nothing but an arrest. Even if they took something if yours, the police can probably get it back.

I prefer "kind pranks." One of my favorite pranks I've ever pulled happened about 30 years ago. I had a neighbors who obsessively tracked his car's fuel milage. I got to wondering what would happen if his milage dramatically increased. So after making sure he used regular unleaded I started adding fuel to his car every night. I had a 5 gallon gas can so I was able to top up his car every night. I usually got home from work at around 2 or 3 AM. At first he thought his gas gauge had broken. This wasn't a problem because he knew his car's milage so he "knew" how much fuel he had left. But when he went to the gas station to fill up, he discovered the tank was already full. It was driving him nuts because he could not figure out how his car continued to run normally, but seemed to no longer use any gas. When he took the car to the mechanic even the mechanic couldn't figure it out. He did suggest that perhaps someone might be topping up the tank without him knowing but my neighbors dismissed that theory as preposterous. My neighbor even asked me, but I pointed out that his car was running normally so why worry about it. Maybe if he discovered the cause of this "malfunction" it might just go back to normal. But he just had to know. So with the inside lights turned off he sat looking out the window, watching his car. Sure enough, here I cam with my gas can, topping off his tank. He wasn't upset with me (Hell I'd gifted him over a month of free gas) but I had been right. Knowing why his car had stooped using gas caused it to start using gas again.

That was harassment and bullying. They were actively taunting him and when he retaliated and expressed upset, they threatened him with physical violence. There was nothing remotely innocent about their “prank”, it was designed to belittle and punk someone for clout. He's lucky the other guy didn't have a weapon because I feel like the dude whose hat he took wasn't playing around and if there was not a weapon discrepancy there would have been either a serious fight. You can't just go around touching people, you don't know when you're going to touch the wrong person. If you came where I live you've got a 20% chance of touching someone that's just been ITCHING to shoot someone that's "coming for them and their things" (and no it's not just white folks), a 20% chance it's tweaker who could care less if you've got a little knife, and a 20% chance it's someone else with a gun that's going to citizens arrest you and our cops are not nice at all in some of the areas.
