CMMG strongly recommends Winchester White Box ammo, and I suspect the Banshee is tuned for that specific round. I've tried everything from 180s @ 1000fps, to 220s @ over 1100fps, and the gun really prefers rounds in the middle of the 10mm ballistic road. Radial delay does NOT hold the bolt closed longer than blowback, it is not a sort-of locked breech. I tried heavier buffers, recommended for full-power 10mm, sent the gun back twice, I'm on my third bolt, and just decided to stop trying to make it into something it's not- a thumping 10mm carbine -and load what it likes, rather than get it to like what I prefer. It shoots 180s a little more accurately than heavier bullets, two inches at fifty yards with no magnification. Shoot 180s@1150, or 200s@1100, and the gun will be happy.

Check your casings! Especially the underwood 165s! When I bought mine, I immediately put the 8oz buffer in it per instruction manual. Shoots Blazer Brass and Magtech 180s just fine. Zeroed my red dot with Underwood’s 165 Gold Dots and discovered cracked, split and bulged cases! I believe for these awesome 10mm loads, the firearm needs a roller delayed system. No ammo issues from my XTEN and XTEN Comp.

Man, sad to see the accuracy get worse as the bullet grain increases! I carry an XDM Elite OSP 10mm as my woods gun loaded with my custom reloads using either 180gr XTPs or 200gr Gold Dots. My current woods carbine is a Henry Black rifle in .45 Colt and I was hoping to replace it with a 10mm carbine. The CMMG Banshee seemed like the ideal companion. But, since the XDM will do 3/4" 5-shot groups at 25yds, then a carbine better be doing around an inch at 50yds. I go where there are wolves, black bears, cougars, and the occasional grizzly. 180gr is the minimum. If the Banshee can't group with 180gr or 200gr bullets, then it is a no-go for me. Nice video, though!
@AlaskanBallistics2 ай бұрын
Several comments indicate that theirs grouped with 180gr... Also the 140gr xtreme penetrator has out penetrated 200gr hardcast in my tests. Don't shy on an all copper bullet just because they are lighter.

Not grouping the 200 grain bullets is a heart breaker. Maybe when/if they offer a barrel with a faster twist for heavier loads they will re engineer and optimize the angle of the locking lugs and adjust the buffer/carrier weight making the “10mm heavy” model a well rounded woods gun. We can only hope they see it as a project worth taking on.
