That's a really nice looking rosette, and it's very fun to have the kids and dog invade the video. It just tells us that it's life and is real. Thanks for sharing... and one of these days I'm going to get going on my own acoustic guitar!

Thanks David, I really like how the rosette came out! Yeah, sometimes I gotta watch the kids while I‘m trying to make videos. I don‘t really mind it too much. It‘ll be fun to show them a few years from now, haha.

@@CMRWoodworks That'll be fun when they older... mine are now teen and pre-teen! I built a Ukulele kit with my youngest, and that was very fun. I'm not sure I'm up to building a cello with my oldest!

Woah. I LOVE that rosette. I need to get a guitar with style like that. Good job.

Thanks! I really like the rosette too! I‘m glad it worked out. I literally just grabbed a pen blank that has been sitting in the shop for years and tried it out.

It looks beautiful Chris. Here's a tip for that glue bottle. Lay the nozzle on the edge of the workbench and tap it with a hammer whilst rolling it. Works every time!

Thanks so much for the tip! I‘ll definitely give it a try. Thanks for watching!

Great work on the rosette! I've got my fingers crossed for you on the drum sander... You will LOVE having it. They make a number of guitar building tasks SO much easier.

That rosette looks great and with the bwb it looks even better. If it were me I would just cut the sound hole just a tad smaller so you have spruce showing along the inside. That shouldn't make it that much smaller. Good job on the top flaw repair. It's happened before with high end tops but don't ask me how I know. The top has one glue line in it to begin with anyways.

You are right. It makes sense! There is already one glue joint. What‘s one more which will have bracing pieces helping to reinforce it. And I did take your advice and just cut the hole a bit smaller. Only ended up being 4mm smaller than normal and I can‘t tell a difference looking at it. Thanks for the comment!

I love the rosette, the maple does add to it I think. On thought I had, if you are worried about the grain on the other side from cracking, is to use some #10 AC glue on what would be the inside along the seam. It is thin enough to soak in and may strengthening it. You could also cut the sound hole just a fraction smaller without changing sound too much. Looking forward to seeing your new drum sander, not as much as you are of course. 😏

Thanks Mark! I thought about super glue. And I also thought about adding a couple of small patches at those darker grain lines on the inside. I couldn‘t believe it when it cracked, 😂
Very nice Chris, I would just bind the soundhole, that’s a perfect solution for that issue. Is that top Sitka spruce?? 👍👍🎸🇺🇸🇺🇸👨🏻🦯👨🏻🦯

Scott, thanks! Yes, it is torrefied sitka spruce!

Rosette came out great! I think the BWB just made it pop and really compliments the red of the padauk, great work! What is your binding/Purfling scheme ? Which grizzly drum sander did you get? I’m still waiting for a used one to pop up that is in my price range. Keep it up Chris, enjoy your vids and success/errors depictions, awesome integrity!

Thanks Louis! I got the G0458Z. It‘s an 18“ open ended one. The shipping company lost it and now Grizzly will be sending a replacement. It‘s been almost a month and a half since I ordered it!

Well I couldn’t wait any longer, sander envy I guess…. I bought a Supermax 19-38, my (sort of) local Woodcraft Store had it in stock. Got to get busy and Resaw some Bubinga so I can check it out!
