She is really knocking it out of the park. I started my second business life around the same age as she did and 15 years later, I’m semi-retired. She’s on the right track for the most part, except for that vacant lot. At her age with her young family, she cannot be sinking money for years without a return. She really should be investing that money now, either in a rental or at least in a stock index fund to get 8-9% annual returns. Do that for another 15 years and she’ll be much better prepared to build the dream house when she’s 50 with kids in high school.
@GengoSenmon5 ай бұрын
If she were the sole breadwinner, I would agree with your plan. But we did not hear her husband's financial situation. As someone who is successful and works in the same field as him (and makes even more from investing/trading than from my 9-5), he could easily be clearing a higher income than hers, or at least equal. Combine that with their likely preference for a suburban home rather than stacking obscene wealth (like you and I prefer) and it could still make sense for them to buy their dream home outright in cash, which seems like their plan.
@Tkenny3511 ай бұрын
A true hustler. For her to be able to build an interior design business in 2 years while working a 9-5 says a lot about her work ethic. Whats also interesting is her and her husband were able to buy a home for 675k and a piece of land for 450k so financially it seems like they are already set. The cost of building their dream home will probably be another 500k so all in that dream home with land cost will be over 1 mil. The surrounding homes around that vacant land seem like mansions too. What im saying is it doesnt even seem like she needs to do the side gig but shes a go-getter and want more out of life. A very smart woman. Inspiring!

She’s amazing and so impressive. I can’t help but though that its crazy that in this day and age such a highly qualified, obviously hard working person on $125K a year in a good, secure job, who seems to be highly financially responsible, smart and frugal, still needs to start a side business to ensure financial security for her family. Capitalism is a failed experiment.
@LJ-ce9qy11 ай бұрын
The same capitalism that you said is a failed experiment is the same capitalism which enabled her to start a business and gross $400,000 which I’m sure she’ll likely scale to become a multimillion dollar entity. Capitalism is very much alive and thriving.
@SoteOsrs11 ай бұрын
Perhaps she should take her talent to Nigeria and see how she does there? There's lots of places she can go where, according to you, she will thrive even more without that pesky capitalism thing!

If you’re earning more money at the side hustle then that means it’s no longer a side hustle.

Yes! Nice story but side hustle seems more like simple arts and crafts yarn made cup holders. Not massive projects that utilize a college degree.

As a non-American I'm always surprised to see the monthly living cost. I'm from France so the standard of living is technically pretty close to the US but how come in every episode they spend 10k per month ? Is cause it's a big city, big house,etc ? or it's like that everywhere in the US ?
@user-br2bs4ie6t11 ай бұрын
I feel like the more people earn, the more they spend. I know she emphasized living below your means but I feel like the big items really add up: rent/mortgage, child care (especially when both parents are working full/over time), bills, groceries, and the biggest one…debt. So important to pay that off first.

Every thing e6t said bc all of that can be true no matter where you live across the country and also your original guess. In this particular video they live in the New York New Jersey area which is some of the most expensive real estate in the country. Also we pay for safety, typically the more you spend on your home the safer your neighborhood feels. You can live in the “bad part” of a big city and not pay nearly as much as a more wealthy area
@Andlifeslikethis11 ай бұрын
She lives in NJ in the Tri- state area near NYC one of the major cities in the US that generates a-lot of revenue even though it is densely populated, of course her expenses are astronomically higher than the rest of the country. Her income for that area is also higher.
@tinkymcginnis11 ай бұрын
She lives in one of the most expensive parts of the country. A lot of people are leaving that area because it's ridiculous stupid expensive. Totally unnecessary costs when other parts of the country are much more much better.

She and her parents are doing a fantastic job. Her children will grow up with generational wealth and hopefully will never face financial struggle. Watching this video also kind of saddens me. 400k is almost 200 times an annual income in Nigeria. It would take many generations to acquire this wealth. It’s sad to see how centred wealth is in certain parts of the world and others struggle.

For all of the complainers in the comments speaking on her receiving PSLF in spite of a decent income, get off your butt and do something better with your life instead sitting behind a screen spewing hate and envy. She’s taking advantage of the American dream and your comments aren’t stopping her from amassing significant wealth. I salute you Chisom! Keep it up. You are an inspiration. You know you’re doing something right when you have haters coming out of the woodworks!

Using PSLF is within the terms of the loans. (I believe she still has to make the payments and on her income there's not much income based relief. I'm not sure that she would still owe anything to be forgiven
@jefflewis411 ай бұрын
@@stevenroshni1228 She still owes 173k on her loan. Which suggests she was only paying the minimum payments in anticipation the loan would be forgiven in 10 years. So she'll probably save over 140k in student loan forgiveness. Smart financial move on her part.

People should payoff their student loans before buying a home. Stop looking for a bailout for those student loan debts. A salary if $163k is more than enough to eliminate the student loan debt.
@reneestevens733711 ай бұрын
people should mind their own money. Do you earn $163k? If not, then you arent qualified to tell someone who does how they should spend their money.

Eliminating student loan debt should be a priority before buying a home. I don't earn $163k, but I have a net worth of $600k, not including my 2 paid for homes & I received my bachelor's and master's degree almost debt-free. If you want to know how, read my book.@@reneestevens7337
