Unless you're strapping giant magnets to your hands, there are pretty major constraints on how much force it's physically possible to apply at a distance. Ultrasonic haptics are just shaking the air a little bit, but that's enough to feel the shape of objects.

Also, stereoscopic stuff has been around for ages, only thing newish was doing it without glasses where they just used eye tracking. @@daniel4647 I don't quite understand how this works though. They said it doesn't use illusions so is it really volumetric? Because when they talked about the big panel, it clearly isn't volumetric because the image displayed has more depth than the panel itself, therefore it's an illusion. So they kinda contradicted themselves. The showcasing of this tech in this video is very poor considering the camera doesn't have depth perception, I feel like they don't do it justice. For example Voxon showcases their volumetric display really well... visually. They always have music on top of the video though because I suspect their tech makes a ton of noise.

The display is modular, so it can be assembled into large holographic walls, which is how it's intended to be used in most places (such as theme parks) from what I understand. They haven't been too specific about when exactly the first installations will be done, but it sounds like within a year or two.
