My Brother-in-law has a Galaxy S4, since his company uses Android(more flexible), it is a nice phone, than the 4S that I had, I still have the old iPhone 4, but getting the smaller iPhone 6. Mainly sticking with iOS since having iProducts since 2007. (ITunes centric)

Either way you go, you would still break it if it drops. Maybe the htc body would survive a fall, but even with that fancy glass screen, the screen would still crack defeating the purpose of a nice fancy aluminum body, not to mention the one may dent if I drop it. Plastic has been known not to crack when it drops, and I don't remeber plastic denting under light load, but in the end it is up to you. I would still use a case for either.

I'm happy with my 2010 Optimus-V phone from Virgin Mobile. This guy would make fun of it for its 600 Mhz processor, gingerbread, 3g and low-res screen, but it does what I need. It runs Pandora, XM-Radio, has navigation, and unlike newer phones, it runs Foxfi to set up a wifi hotspot, plus it only costs $35/month all in. With the money I saved over an iPhone I bought an iPad.

cricket is a small niche 3rd party provider that is in major metro areas. When they first started it was like having a cordless phone that had the range of the entire city along with all the downsides (back in the day if you had a cricket phone in phoenix and went to, say, pittsburgh where there is cricket you still couldn't use your phone!). Things have gotten better since though. Long and short: a small, 3rd party provider that leases bandwidth from companies that have infrasructure.

The best phone you can buy is hands down, a Sony Xperia Z1. If you are in the uk, go to dialphone and you get a bundle with the Z1 and a Smartwatch 2 that i currently own, and guess for how much... £28.78 a month with no extra costs, also comes with 3 months free in black or white. And no, I don't work for dialaphone, I am 14 so yeah... Just sharing a good deal!

I do not understand people who would go apeshit about how iPhones are overrated. Surely, price may be too high, or the functionality is bellow the interest of *ahem* 13 year old kid's youthful maximalism, but those inividuals are missing the point. You know, a phone is a thing to make calls, send messages, IMs and some sort of entertainment in the spare time. If people like to comfortably use their medium sized phones with one hand, (Try to pull that off with gigantic 5-7 inch screens) fine, leave them be! If they like the thin look of it, lightness or just accessability of their phones - why care? Jerking around with customization and firmware builds while waiting literally years for your android phone to update is not everyone's thing! People who choose iPhones (for the most part) do not expect it to be a jukebox,a portable HDD, a tablet, a movie theatre, a console, a Geiger counter, a lighter and an atomic reactor in one plastic coated shell. They go for a trusty phone that would not go scat after a year or so, and will serve them well for two or three years if handled well. They want to get a phone that will work for them, update frequently and just feel good and look appealing. And yes, damn it, I want an NFC support and a better camera, but I can live without those things!

battery life is different for everyone. i unplug at 7:00 am 0with me surfing the web and streaming news (wifi). while at school I constantly use lte (uni wifi sucks) for surfing, messaging, On my way back from school, I watch youtube off lte. get home, and start work. Once done i usually play some 3d gaming (mostly fifa 2013) for avg of an hour. go to sleep around 1:30 in the morning with about 30% left. its avg batt life but not as bad as what you described.

I got a Doggee voyager 2 for like 70$ something and no contract (i just use prepaid cards because i call people so seldom) totally awesome quad-core 1gb smart-phone with the latest android and a decently big screen. couldn't be happier... and that the sort of sweet spot i like price wise.. I paid that much for my previous Xperia Play too.. It's enough that a slipy accident and a dead phone wont traumatize you... only annoy.. I've spent almost like 10 times as much on a phone before.. and 15 times as much on a phonish like tablet thing i once had... (though it did also run vista and had juice enough to pay wow... admittedly wow with a stylus... but still)

Not a fan of the Samsung phones. Their batteries just don't last and the features are okay for the price. I tried an LG G3, which was cheesier than the GS5, and it blows it out of the water. 4k video and pictures, one of the best processors available, 3GB RAM, and the best-placed phone buttons to date.

My dad bought a $300 laptop that couldn't even play movies that well and my mom got a Pantech Hotshot for a cell phone (dirp). This guy doesn't seem to understand that some people need a cheap phone. Especially the second one - a phone for $20? I'd say that's a pretty amazing deal. I was once at a point where I needed a really cheap phone, mostly because I already had an android media player and couldn't afford an entirely new phone. I ended up finding someone with a spare used flip phone, but a $20 phone would have been great for that. A lot of the other products on his list aren't that bad for the price, either. How about this guy actually looks at the worst phones when it comes to the "bang-for-the-buck"? Or, even better, what lesser expected things to watch for in cheap, unknown phones? For example: - Probably the only point he did touch on: old versions of android - Missing Google Play store - Missing bluetooth, GPS, Ambient light sensor (which are assumed to be in many phones) - Anything other than microUSB (Oh, wait, iPhone...) : make sure you can easily find chargers that aren't overpriced - Inability to use data - instability (some vendors put very unstable Android builds on their phones)

Completely agree. I'd say the presenter is full of sh*t and has no knowledge of technology or the cell phone market. ZTE is producing good phones and my 3-year-old Blade's 480x800 screen is still superior to today's cheap Samsung phone ones (cost me 100$). And imo Gingerbread is still acceptable. Unlike on iOS many apps still run on older Android versions. Try doing that on an iPod Touch 2G. No way it's too slow for running the latest Facebook app, they just don't want you to. He could've picked on (expensive) phones with missing microSD-slot, bad network reception, containing toxic plastic, bad batteries, ...

Okay... They never even mentioned Apple once. Just because he expressed CNET's opinion in the top phone, it being the S4. Look, I prefer Apple, but that's because my family, when it comes to smartphones, is mainly centered around the iPhone, and I've never actually used an Android. So I can't speak for which one is better. One thing I HATE is that people will straight out lie to prove their point. The iPhone 5s is laggy? Not so. And although I've had no first-hand experience, I can tell you from what I've heard, the S4 isn't a crappy phone either. Also, I think a big thing is the screen size. A lot of Android users get at iPhone for having such a small screen. Well guess what? Some people don't want a humongous screen! Some people do want that. There's nothing inherently wrong with either opinion. Furthermore, another thing I've noticed is that people call Apple gay. Um... what does that even mean? This is a list of some things wrong with that: 1. Being gay is not a bad thing. 2. What is your proof of this? An explanation? 3. How can a company be gay? Like, how is that even possible. Gay is used to describe a person, not a company. 4. Gay can also mean happy. SO until this stops, (which I think it never will) I will just think, "Yay! Apple is happy!" Emanuel Diaz , snakedeadly is right - their computers are very good, while the iPhone is nothing special and not that useful. I am telling you that as a developer for Android powered phones and iPhones (iOS, to be precise). In my case (this is a personal oppinion), I need a phone, with which I can work on the go (still using Galaxy S3 - perfect). Since I always travel by car I have a Huawei Ascend Mate (huge screen, easy to use) and don't care much about being in my pocket. The iPhone I use only for testing my apps. In the end - it depends how you use your device, so there is no univercal answer such as: "The is better". People should get that their opinions are based on their needs.

Not everyone needs the latest and greatest phone. I've been trying to shop for my mom who's using an old Nokia flip. She's not huge on the touchscreen but wants a QWERTY keyboard. Speed isn't an issue since she wouldn't be using real "data" like the rest of us. BUT... there are way better budget phones to be had. I wouldn't necessarily call this a worst list.

Well, iPhone might not be the best, and it's expensive. But iPhone does have something special. Simple design, and it works well. My first phone was Nokia N96, loved it, then N97. You forgot da Sony Xperia S (Or Xperia LT26i) which is the worst one, it says its camera its 12MP, well, each photo takes as much memory as a 12 mp one, but its quality is around 2.5 mp, and the ram says is 1GB, but you and can use less than 415MB and is slower than the galaxy ace (counting a galaxy ace with less FREE RAM)
