Never got the chance to race cars, did race karts during a career spanning 20 years starting at 1989. rFactor 2 has been my go to sim and while the physics may be too slidey for cars they did feel very natural for me that I had grown used to driving karts on low grip hard tires (racing on a budget) on low grip Greek tracks. iRacing? there's no feel of the limit, cars just snap out of control and I don't like turning in a million laps just to be able to keep the car on track. Next year the Virtual Endurance Championship will migrate from RF2 to LMU and I will migrate too with it. I found the comments on the FFB intriguing, driving the GT3s and some other cars in RF2 through some medium to high speed corners the cars sometimes feel absolutely sensational on certain tracks and corners, bringing back real life memories, this does not happen at the slow stuff. I remember driving the Palatov D4 on Croft in RF2 and at the last S of the track, the way the car gripped and changed direction was so reminiscent of my kart I was almost in tears from joy, I could just feel it like irl minus the g-forces and somehow the way it was translated through the wheel it kind of immitated the g-forces as well. I had to stop racing due to family and job obligations and simracing helped me maintain sanity and make the transition to family life without feeling I had lost much. Same for modern cars that are total shite, I bought a bike instead, I get my driving fix in RF2 nowadays and I'm a happy bunny, they can keep the electric steering and shove it... Cheers!

@AL.farmlife
@AL.farmlife 2 күн бұрын
btw: In Le Mans Ultimate (LMU), steering resistance coefficient and saturation settings affect the force feedback (FFB) behavior, specifically the weight and dynamic range of the steering feel. Here’s a breakdown: Steering Resistance Coefficient This setting adjusts the level of resistance felt when turning the wheel. It simulates how heavy or light the steering feels by adding friction or damping forces to the wheel. Higher values result in heavier steering, giving a stronger sensation of the car’s resistance to turning. Lower values make the steering feel lighter and easier to turn, which may suit long stints to reduce fatigue. Saturation Saturation determines the maximum output of the FFB signal. It effectively compresses or limits the strength of the forces. Higher saturation makes forces feel more pronounced, but it may cause clipping (where subtle details are lost because the force exceeds the wheel's capability). Lower saturation allows for finer detail but at the cost of less overall strength.

Thank you for providing some legitimacy to those who have been complaining about the low speed force feedback. Some of us are getting of tired of being told by LMU zealots that our skills are lacking or the game is doing everything perfectly, or it's just our equipment. Hopefully feedback from a real 296 GT3 driver will move the needle for studio 396. They are so close. I have to ask about wheel oscillation and violent little jolts (quick FFB grab+release) going down the straight. How much of that is realistic?
@CoachDaveAcademy
@CoachDaveAcademy 3 күн бұрын
If you’re struggling with the movement on the straights I would recommend turning down your FFB. In real life the steering is pretty light because of the power steering. But I do acknowledge it’s a difficult balance to get right in the game. In terms of overall FFB I have spoken with the guys at S397 about my feelings. Let’s see what happens there. ~ Dave

@6:18 I feel like the FFB for every car needs a look over. It feels like you get an initial resistance on turn-in, but then the steering goes numb. It’s hard to feel understeer or oversteer in my opinion. The McLaren 720s GT3 is really bad with that, as is the LMP2 cars in my opinion. It could be my settings, but I have heard other people say that as well, including James Baldwin. I have obviously never driven any of these cars in real life though, so my only reference is iRacing and ACC. To me, ACC is much worse, and I can’t figure out how to drive around it.

@@CoachDaveAcademy OK, thanks for the answer, I think it's OK if you can feel the ABS but unfortunately it's so bad that I can't feel the road, I don't want to praise myself but without ABS I could be in the top 50 in the rankings, now I always drive in last place because I just can't feel it. Sorry, that's translated because I don't speak English. So that's just how it is and I won't buy the next GT3 and will try to drive the GTE or the LMP.. thank you very much for your answer 🙏🙏🙏

@@CoachDaveAcademy thanks a lot for clarifying this moment with ABS. I had a feeling that it had too strong force feedback on braking. But now as you clarify it is real I have no complains. I mostly had this feeling of very strong feedback jumping from ACC where you don't feel ABS at all. But here in LMU after 10 laps I stop feeling ABS at most because I start braking properly up to the limit of ABS. If it's real then it's real, no need to change anything, we just need to adapt our braking to real life from simplified simulation. But it's important that you as a real driver confirm that it's what is actually felt in the real 296. Thank you!

@@CoachDaveAcademyHello Dave. Is it perhaps possible for you to share your Simagic Alpha FFB settings? I would find it very interesting to test and drive your settings. Please. 😊 Maybe also the ingame settings. Maybe you can also say something about your FOV settings in the cockpit. Depending on how big your monitor or even triple monitors are. You also seem to be sitting about 70cm away from the monitor, right? Thank you very much and have a Merry Christmas. Greetings, Thomas.

Played my first full multiclass at Monza in the LMGT3 Mclaren today. I've played Iracing for years, but I have to say, this is the first time in a long time I felt I was properly fighting the car - in a good way. Although I definitely agree with the FFB issue in low speed; the 1st corner chicane is very uncomfortable. Otherwise it's a joy to throw the car around and know if I clip the gravel I'm not getting a 1x! Great review.

Hmmm. Not sure if audio alone is worth trying a game, lol Might consider if the handling at low speed is improved upon…but that is a pretty major component to handling and FFB. I have read and seen across multiple reviews since the update/LMGT3 add on, and to your point - the universal consensus is the low speed ‘feels’, or lack thereof.

I call that nitpicking. No sim is subject to this level of nitpicking, whilst iRacing has had for TWO YEARS a sad-sack and wholly unrealistic representation of the GTP class (LMDh) and only now that they completely &%$#$ the joint, people start to realise the scam around that iRacing mantra of 'the most realistic'.

@ too old to invest in youtubers yes but still the most realistic. You will be surprised yesterday I commented that LMU lake lowspeed ffb details and you also said the same thing….no sim ffb is as details as ac1(on entry, mid and corner exit, details when you’ve trailbraked bad and most importantly tire before you lockup and when you lock up), most sims including LMU when you lockup its over in that corner which is not realistic while ac1 you can feel the level of lockup and slightly release the brake accordingly. And what interesting is that ac1 has abs vibrations(ffb) and people make it as if LMU came with it🤦🏿‍♂️. Ac1 is theee benchmark…..
@CoachDaveAcademy
@CoachDaveAcademy 2 күн бұрын
Yea but there’s a difference between being realistic and FFB. Just because a vibration is happening through the wheel does not mean it’s the right vibration for the right moment etc. AC was the best of its time but I do feel like we have progressed significantly since then. @ I respect you and what you have done for sim racing community but these days only money talks no wonder you dont have ac setups😅…it is hard to believe youtubers, I trust my intuitive feel….as I mentioned no sim does tire feedback((lockups(before, when happens and when to release brakes without completely messing up the corner) as detailed as ac))….the only way I can believe hypercars in LMU feels better than ac is when LMU has paid me😂😂.
