I just want to complement and appreciate how good and convenient the editing and format of your videos. Videos has a clear format that is easy to follow even without sounds and edited to the point that you can slow down the speed to 0.25x to learn from each move in more detail without having to fast forward to the next move. Great stuff man. Thanks a lot.

This video is a CLINIC. The comments and the many repetitions--perfect. Playground player here, but I can't wait to give some of these techniques a go. I had it wrong. Thought finishing was about avoiding contact at all costs. Nope! Thank you.

This is an old video and you might not see this but if anyone were to ask me who my coach is, I’d have to say ‘Coach Frikki’. The way you breakdown these tools and techniques in these videos is so perfect. I’ve become a better player just by watching 3-4 of the videos you’ve uploaded. Thanks again for all your assistance 🙏🏾

A good finishing tip is that when you are driving through the basket, put the arm the side the defense is on in a sort of L shape. This creates contact, and you can eventually shoulder them off you in the paint for the easy bucket. I'm a guard and have to use this a lot, but any position can do this ( obviously ).

Hey Coach, Great vid as always I also have a video request: Can you do a video on finishing from the corner angle. When I drive from the corner angle, it's hard to finish off the glass since I will be parallel to the backboard or some times behind it. So I would appreciate it if you can give me some tips.... THANKS AGAIN
@CoachFrikki3 жыл бұрын
I am planning on doing a video on baseline drives. Agreed that sometimes finishing those drives is awkward because of the backboard. If you are somewhat athletic you want to turn your body, square up to the backboard. This cuts off your defenders as well as giving you the backboard angle. Having a few reverse layups in your package always helps too. Eurostepping is also a possibility if the help jumps early. For smaller players you need that basline floater. As well as being good at passing out of it (corner/wing kick or a 45 cut dish). A quick sneak in finger roll finish is also possible a lot of the time when you get there before the help comes. Try out these options and find which ones you like the best.

I’ve done this a lot and recently people have been adapting to this by simply moving out of the way once I lean in. Causing me to stumble on my own feet because I expected to bounce off the opponents body. So watch out for that. And stay balanced.
@CoachFrikki2 жыл бұрын
Ah, the classic "chair pull" trick. Gotta learn to stay on balance against that. Bump Euro is a great way to deal with that. So is rising up and finishing off 2 feet.

Nice video. Although there are many different bump finishes, I think the main thing to finishing through contact is to get stronger and work on your athleticism. The skinnier you are compared to your defender, the harder it is to finish. But yes assuming you're not skinny/weak these are all great moves. And agreed bodying ppl is so fun. If you're a lot stronger than your defenders you'll start getting double teamed too.
@CoachFrikki3 жыл бұрын
Facts. Bodying is fun for sure. Makes you more calm when driving - knowing that you can slow down & use your body instead of always going 100% and sprinting/jumping out of control.
@monkeymoo873 жыл бұрын
@@CoachFrikki exactly. you can wrack up a lot of and 1's or shooting fouls too since they have to foul you or give up an easy basket.
@mirradavide2 жыл бұрын
I agree to the point of “if you want to finish good, you gotta be stronger” but i don’t think the thing is bodying people. You gotta be stronger to have more CONTROL over your body. To have more balance, to stay compose even if somebody crash into you. Even little guys like Isaiah Thomas could get trought a giant like Whiteside cause he was capable to prepare the body for the contact, he didn’t bodied him.

Great vid. The first Bump + Step through example is a travel though.
@CoachFrikki Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Why do you think it is a travel?
@mathieumilgram6798 Жыл бұрын
@@CoachFrikki Because the pivot foot launches forward and in the air while the front foot stayed planted. Both feet have to technically leave the floor at the same time after pivoting, although it is widely accepted that there can be some delay. This first example is too obvious though, it is basically a 2 step layup from deadstop, which is a clear travel, even though it's too often not getting whistled, even in NBA *cough*DeMar DeRozan*cough*. Thankfully commentators rarely fail to point this out too, so the awareness is there. By the way, I want to thank you for your work here, I picked up basketball again last summer. I am better than ever now thanks to your videos, the ones about driving angles and different finishes particularly. I love how you show different defensive scenarios, then how to react and use the right moves accordingly. Also added a few dribbling moves to my bag. Really wish I had this much available information when I was younger, but I'm also glad to still be improving my game in my 30s.
@CoachFrikki Жыл бұрын
@@mathieumilgram6798 Hmm. Lifting your pivot is actually not illegal. No matter how long you keep it lifted up. Meaning you can finish either off 1 or 2 feet after the step through. What is illegal is 1) dribbling after you lift your pivot 2) putting it back down. But really appreciate those kind words. Never thought so many people would end up watching and taking stuff from these breakdowns.
@mathieumilgram6798 Жыл бұрын
@@CoachFrikki I think I am biased because I live in France, this is how I have been taught and this move gets whistled in LNB games. Rules are not the same in NBA and some are differently interpreted. Also, just came up on this apparently from the FIBA rules : "To pass or shoot for a field goal, the player may jump off a pivot foot, but neither foot may be returned to the floor before the ball is released from the hand(s)" There is also this from NBA rules : "You cannot lift your pivot foot off the floor until you shoot, pass, or begin dribbling the ball. You can not hold onto the ball for longer than five seconds. You can not change your pivot foot once it is established" There are apparently subtleties I don't get. To me, planting the free foot while lifting the pivot foot makes the free foot the new pivot foot, which is a violation. Thus, in my mind, jumping off two feet seems to be the only way to step through without breaking the rules.
