RIP Stan. I always remember seeing an interview in which he said the thing that drove him more than anything was seeing the smiles and laughter of people when they came off his rides.

The S&S Sky Swat was such an underrated ride. It had a unique sensation of catapulting you into the sky. If only it was as reliable as the Screamin’ Swing I reckon it would’ve waaay more popular.

Awesome video! S&S is still going strong for making drop towers, roller coasters, and new ride models for improvements! I'm also looking forward to see what the future will be for S&S! Sadly that Stan Checketts (the founder of S&S AKA Stan & Sandy) died at the age of 80 on January 2nd, 2022. We will never forget him, especially his ride construction to the amusement industry through out the years. R.I.P Stan Checketts (1941-2022)

Great video. I was lucky enough to ride the Sonic Boom. It was the best drop tower ever. I also rode his Sky Sling when it was in Logan too and it had the new OTSR seats and two of the original horse saddle with seat belts seats. I did the seatbelt seats as I knew it would probably be my only time to do so which has come true. Great tribute to Stan.

With the towers, they also introduced the Double Shot. I do see some people confuse them over Space Shots, but other than their shorter height, the accumulator is injected with a second smaller dose of air immediately after the gondola is shot up which is then transferred into the shot tanks over the air that is being compressed, causing the gondola to shoot to the top a second time.

Never really liked the shot tower experience but after riding one at Motiongate in Dubai a few days ago I think I can never ride one again. First ride brilliant, second was the scariest moment in my life. When I reached the top there was a loud click and it felt like my restraint let loose. Never been so scared on an attraction and truly thought it was all over. Held the restraint so tight my hands hurt! 😂 Terrifying. I'll stick to coasters from now on 😂

Actually, Disneyland Paris's Space Mountain do have a launch and a lift hill since 1995.
@coasterbot2 жыл бұрын
Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris has just one launch which is angled upwards, like a lift hill. The launch is a weird flywheel/winch hybrid, it's pretty cool! :)
@LoskLive2 жыл бұрын
@@coasterbot no it actually have both a launch and a lift hill. Between cast members, we call this lift the Supernova due to the theming element placed here in Space Mountain: Mission 2. Now it's when you going to the Star Wars space cruisader. But it's a lift hill ^^ But yeah the launch mechanism of DLP Space Mountain is kinda cool in many ways. EDIT: the lift hill is right in the middle of the ride, after the corkscrew and before the horseshoe.
