Hey bro! I love your vids, I already had a big collection by the time I found the channel, but you're in the same lane as Tom Moran etc. I can't watch exotics lair anymore. Not gonna turn me away, but the music in your intro is used in millions of other places and I find it really annoying. You should ask your subs to make you an intro guitar track or look a lil harder for royalty free music. There are some sites where ppl post their own work for free use. Just a thought, you'll get more watchtime if ppl like me aren't just skipping thru.
@tarantulacollective4 жыл бұрын
@@trvsfrnd sorry you dont like the intro man...I've been using it for over a year now and when I first started using it, no one was using it that inwas aware of. It come from a royalty free music service....as do all the songs I use. I've tried to change the intro music a few times, but it is usually met with outrage from my subs upset I changed it. It is just one of those things where you cant please everyone I suppose...but I appreciate your comment and feedback. I am starting to upload twice a week and I am using different intro music on the Thursday videos so it wont be too over played.

"Be mindful and deliberate in your movements..." Yep. Make their environment appropriate and non-stress and remain calm and quiet when doing your husbandry. I had a young adult Chilobrachys fimbriatus take a walkabout on my arm during a rehouse and since she just seemed to want to explore I carefully let her while encouraging her to step off into her new enclosure. Granted, when I had a male P. irminia bolt up the cork bark towards my face I had a momentary freak out, but once it was on the floor I managed to calmly get it into a catch cup and safely back into its enclosure.

I was given this species as a mature female, from a friend who had to move to an other country. It was my very first tarantula(I had experience only with scorpions before). To be quite honest, even though I was just a beginner, I feel it was the best lesson of respect towards tarantulas. Many beginners start with those sleepy, docile Grammostolas and they can't transition easily to more dangerous species.

Glad you were able to get the footage of your T. Mine has been more active at night and exploring her enclosure but once she notices me...back in the burrow she goes 🤣 Agree, a must have for anyone who can properly take care of them and truly understand the speed and personality. Thanks for sharing 😁

A friend of mine (before either of us were in the hobby) bought an adult from a pet store half off as his first T. That was 4 years ago and she is still alive and well. And yes, he quickly realized how this would be an advanced T to own, too many close calls and escapes for a newbie to handle.

Just rescued one from a local pet shop, they had her in a tiny cup that was barely big enough for her to stretch out. This will be my 5th T, I had a OBT as my second 😂 I’m used to the speed and aggression, all though she seemed to get more docile when she got comfortable.

Got one of these little critters as a tiny sling in a mystery box. They ignored the pre-dug burrow and immediately started tunneling on the side of the enclosure. Seems to thoroughly enjoy cut up pieces of waxworm, but as soon as it finished the worm piece, it dived into the burrow instantly and sat down there looking at me with what I swear was the most calculating, devious glare I've ever seen on an arachnid.

I'll probably never get a Cobalt Blue because I just don't want a really big collection. I have eleven Ts now, and I will at least add an arboreal in the future. That said, I do like this spider. The only negative is it's fossorial nature. Then again, I have new worlds that disappear at times.

PSA to anyone who depends on Hobby Lobby/ Container Store for DIY sling enclosures like I do. (Their both closed until further notice in my area) I found some good alternatives to the crystal boxes in the form of "notecard" boxes in the school supplies section at my local Walmart. They come in 3x5,4x6, and I think there was even a larger option. Their pretty close to as transparent as the crystal boxes and were only around 2 dollars each. They also have latches to lock them shut.

Do Cobalt blues in the wild have to deal with a lot of predators, is that why they are so defensive?
@tedmyers80054 жыл бұрын
falcon642 That’s the case with all Tarantulas. OW and NW Ts defend themselves differently. Most NWs possess urticating hairs, which they kick off of their abdomen. These hairs are very irritating, and most NW Ts will use them as opposed to trying to bite. The Cobalt Blue is an OW, and OWs don’t have urticating hairs, so they rely on their speed and potent venom to defend themselves. :)

I’ve watched this video at least twice a week the last couple of weeks. I just got a female she’s around 4” I haven’t been able to measure her but I’m guessing she’s around there in size. This has been one of my dream T’s for a few years. Mine so far is completely opposite personality wise, so far anyway. She’s got plenty of substrate and a nice cork bark round but she spends a lot of time out in the open by her water dish. She isn’t phased and doesn’t move even if I move her tank or open it up. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad. She’s got a spot on her abdomen I’ve never seen anything like it on any of my T’s. I’m hoping that she isn’t sick or anything like that.

My cobalt blue is docile for some reason, I thought she escaped even though there was no way, she destroyed her mound and I really thought she got out so I started digging, couldn’t find her and then the next day, she unburied herself. I’m surprised I didn’t get bitten.

Sorry I’m 3 years late on here 😅. But I have a question. My T (cobalt blue) has been burrowed for months, well I needed to rehouse them to something more spacious, although I hate it due to stressing them out. But the borrow was completely closed so they wouldn’t come out for water or food. When they came out, their abdomen was way slimmer than before. Not shriveled but just slimmer. Could this be because they molted underneath or from dehydration? Thanks!
@notforyou1524 жыл бұрын
12 years ago I got into old world t’s while I bred sunglow boas. My very first t was a cobalt blue. It went easily. Not sure why people like you say not for beginners!! It’s a pet hole. I still have okd worlds and 14 cobalt blues. Easy to care for ! If you research first and are not wimpy, cobalts are awesome for first timers. Flooding them to rehome sucks and is NOT NECESSARY.
@tarantulacollective4 жыл бұрын
If you're not used to rehousing a tarantula....rehousing a Cobalt Blue that is quick to bolt and very defensive is the main reason it isnt recommend for beginners, but that doesnt mean people arent "allowed" to have one as their first. I just dont recommend bc there are many slower moving, less defensive species that are available.
@MikeDMays3 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of putting mine into an enclosure just a smidge too big and now I believe or atleast I hope she has only burrowed down to do a molt as I can't find her. I do know it hasn't escaped, but I don't know how long they can or will stay burrowed as it's been 2 weeks with no food now. I know she will be fine.
