Cobra Commander is my favorite G.I. Joe character. I love his movie incarnation. They gave him a fun origin story, kept the scheming likeness of the original, and I thought he looked cool in both movies, though I prefer the 2nd movie look because it looks more like his of self. But something else I really liked about him is that, well he's not physically powerful, like he's not an overly buff guy. I mean he's not a skinny twig, but he ain't no John Cena either. He doesn't rely on physical strength as some villains do, what makes people listen to, follow, and fear him, is his mind. And just his character in general, like in Retaliation, he causes mass death and destruction my destroying London, and it's not what he does do, as much as what he doesn't do that gets me as he did that. He didn't start yelling about a victory, he didn't let out a maniacal laugh. He just watched in silence. He simply didn't care. He just killed millions and he just does not care, it's all just another step in the plan. That's so cold, and I love it for a villain.

I never read the comics but I did watch the cartoons during the 80’s. As an adult I can say that I have grown to have sympathy for Cobra Commander. To this day am still waiting for a first person or third person shooter from G.I. Joe in the style of COD or Gears Of War in which you could either play as Joe or Cobra member each character having their own distinct fighting style and looks you know all of the money they could make with dlc and selling character in bundles they could even introduce vehicles for specific missions but i know Hasbro would never allow it to happen i don't think they would like the violence even though the movies are pretty violent

The cartoon Cobra Commander was a joke. Larry Hama is the best. He wrote Cobra Commander as being a a used car salesman whose life was made terrible by his own greed and lack of success. He started organizing people, much like Hitler, into believing there is a better life to live. His wife leaves him, with his son Billy, and faces another loss when his brother is in a car accident, due to his own drinking as a result of his own discharge from the military. The accident killed Snake Eyes' parents and twin sister the day Snake Eyes returned from the war. This cemented CC's hatred for Snake Eyes and led to the mistaken assassination of the Hard Master by Zartan, who was paid to kill Snake Eyes. Snake Eyes leaves the disbanded Arashikage dojo and a few years later is recruited for GI Joe. The Baroness eventually recruits a teenage Billy to kill CC, Billy having no idea CC is his father.

Its a shame that Larry Hama never made Cobra Commander more credible- he was only a scammer and used car salesman in the Marvel Comics series; James Bond’s arch nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, founder/leader of SPECTRE was revealed by Ian Fleming to have degrees in Political Science, Economics, & Radio Electronics; making him a very credible opponent. In the cartoons, he was a joke with crazier schemes than Wile E. Coyote. And the movies have him in a rig from a Japanese sentai series. The best animated take on Cobra Commander was in G. I. Joe: Renegades; Comic wise, Marvel’s G. I. Joe #9 got him right. Ditto the way he’s presented in. DDP’s Cobra/G. I. Joe: Reborn and G. I. Joe Reloaded series (think G. I. Joe in the Tom Clancy Universe.

I always dug the cobra la angle. Alays wanted a many eyed behind the mask cc. Avoided the movies like the plague they are. 5 mins of that paris scene had me done son. Now theanimated movie intro mini movie, fan fucking tastic. The comic are amazing, and going in after the cartoons i easily was able to make it all make sense in my head cannon. Resolute is king in the retelling, the rest if the reboots and tellings are meh. Only the 3 to 4 inch doll line was ever worth collecting, not a fan of barbie size. That's it, this toy fucking rocked the 80s and blew those lame ass star wars dolls into burnt plastic.

Nice video but I almost stopped watching in the very beginning. Destro was not morally corrupt, compared to most of the Cobra organization he had his own personal honor.
