@@ImaBobbyMudda Let me preface this by saying Amanda is one of my favorite characters in the show. With that being said: No, she has her own problems with arrogance. In season 1, she kept backing Sam when Daniel was complaining about her not spending time with Aisha. Then she says Kyler is harmless when Daniel is rightfully concerned about the guy. Season 2 finale she makes Daniel stop teaching karate, which leaves Sam to take things into her own hands in season 3. Since Sam is a teenager, she inevitably screws up, and Demetri gets a broken arm. Then, after constantly telling Daniel he needs to stop worrying about a "geriatric karate coach," she shows up to CK and slaps Kreese (he deserved it thoroughly), and got herself a restraining order from him. Then she AGAIN thinks handling it her way would be better. So she tries to get the landlord to kick out kreese (something Daniel tried in season 1 with Johnny and she lambasted him for) and of course, it backfires. Every time Daniel (who was traumatized by kreese and silver) tried to talk about how dangerous these dudes are (he's correct of course), she downplays it. I suggest you keep this info in mind and do a rewatch and you will pick up on just how much she doesn't listen to where Daniel is coming from.

Daniel and Johnny’s struggle is similar to what most parents face. Johnny is more like a father where as Daniel is more like a mother. Mothers tend to be more protective and try to keep their children out of harms way whereas fathers tend to stretch those boundaries of safety in order to allow their children to rise to their full potential. Mr. Myagi was able to maintain a healthy balance between keeping Daniel safe and allowing him to face mortal danger where necessary. Daniel is wrong, but it comes from a place of past experiences. When he faced Kreese and Silver, things were more black and white. Cobra Kai was the Dark Side and Miyagi-Do was the right way. They were the bullies and the monsters. Those experiences color his perception, but they also blind him to something he's overlooking. This season is largely centered around the stuff that happened in KK3. He's forgetting the lesson that Mr. Miyagi taught him about the Bonzai Tree having a strong root. Miyagi-Do is the strong root, but the tree also has to grow and become its own plant. In that same way the students must also grow and adapt. This is what Daniel is overlooking. He wants to honor the legacy of Mr. Miyagi, but he isn't taking into account that his former student, Robbie, also knows that playbook and is teaching Cobra Kai how to find its weaknesses. Miyagi-Do alone isn't going to cut it here.

I know Sam's character is obviously supposed to be an angsty teen struggling but I feel like so much of the conflict that happens is her fault in some way shape or form and it makes her so insufferable.

it's so much more than her being "an angsty teen". it's so frustrating to see everyone conveniently forget the very real trauma she suffered not that long ago at the hands of Tory in the high school fight, then re-living it during the fight at the arcade and then having Tory and Cobra Kai break into her actual home trying to kill her. I get that she was being the aggressor a lot this season but I think it's understandable after everything she's been through. excusable? no. but definitely understandable. everyone is so quick to excuse Tory's behavior because she has a terrible home life but somehow never give the same courtesy to Sam. it's super annoying tbh.

@@the_nikster1 Yeah fair enough I guess its because Tory more or less started out as a villain so it's not excusable but it is expected and Sam didn't so I have higher expectations of her, ever since the 2nd season began even before the tory fight I feel like every other time I'm ready for Sam to really redeem herself for something stupid she did beforehand she instead doubles down on her bad attitude and chooses the most irrational option available and it makes it very hard to root for her most of the time.

The fact that they are both huge fans of the Karate Kid movies really shows. Their reactions always seem genuine and never forced.

About your kids not listening to you. The late Kobe try to give advice in scoring to his daughter in a basketball game. She tune him out and would rather listen to her coach. Kobe, one of the greatest scorer that ever live, and a basket savant.
