Hello Flo. I had a feeling you could do this. My Mom is from the islands and she always throws away the "trash" as she calls it. I will keep it it and turn it into flour. You saved me so much money importing coconut flour. Thank You!! I would like to see a cookie 🍪, bread 🍞, and cake 🍰 recipe using coconut flour please. The pictures you show look so good 👍
@FloChinyere7 жыл бұрын
Yay! That "trash" can be recycled. If you have a vitamix/blendtec blender or other heavy duty dry mills, they even do a better job than this my spice grinder. Sure, those recipes are in the works. :) Have you seen the coconut flour pancakes? >> kzbin.info/www/bejne/nminkGeteMegnbs

How do you keep the bugs away from it while drying outside?
@GraceTruthTeacher8 жыл бұрын
Thanks flo! I needed a gluten free alternative to the bean flour that I recently used in my sweet potato bread (Pain Patate). It is similar to bread pudding but without the raisins etc. It is just a thicker version of sweet potato pie. Lord have mercy Flo, the bean flour gave it an AWFUL taste! I had to make a new one without any flour a' tallll.... It fell apart when you sliced it but it was delicious. lol I believe the coconut flour will be a better gluten free alternative to the bean flour. Thanks for sharing!
@FloChinyere8 жыл бұрын
Yes, beans flour can be over powering in baked goods. Non-contaminated oat flour is better than beans flour. With coconut flour, you get a mild taste of coconut that does not work too hard. ;) You are welcome.
@GraceTruthTeacher8 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Yes, anything has to be better than that bean flour in baked goods. :~)I do have to give it credit for working really well as a batter when frying fish etc. Thanks for the info about the oat flour. Have a great day!

Nice video! I tried drying mine in the sun,its almost dried,but I noticed it has an odour. Do I still continue drying or its spoilt?
@FloChinyere8 жыл бұрын
Ijeoma that odour ... are the coconuts you started with fresh? If yes, the odour means that the coconut chaff did not get enough sun. If they do not dry fast enough, decomposition sets in, that is where the odour is coming from. If the odour is mild, you can keep drying it till very dry, grind and put in the freezer. But if the odour is too strong, I am afraid it will affect whatever recipe you will use the flour to prepare.

How much carb in this flour,we can have it instead of wheat flour, I'm on diet pls recommend
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
If there is any carb in this, it's probably about 5g per 100g because everything is squeezed out and only the chaff (fibre) left. And no you cannot use it straight as replacement for wheat flour because coconut flour does not contain gluten. You need to bind it with wheat flour but if you do not eat wheat flour you need a binder like psyllium husk or xanthan gum to bind it else it will not hold when you want to use it to prepare say a pastry. With the pancake, all you need is a lot of eggs. Check out these coconut flour recipes to see how I bind it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nminkGeteMegnbs

Hi, Thank you for sharing such a useful tutorial. I’d like to ask you something: If we don’t have a proper place to dry them and just like you said we want to put them in the oven, so which temperature we should use during that process?
@FloChinyere7 жыл бұрын
The lowest temperature possible so they do not turn brown. If you have a fan oven, just the fan on cool temperature can dry this. Glad you found it helpful.

Hello ma, Can I use coconut flour to make meat pies please and thank you
@FloChinyere8 жыл бұрын
Mandie it wouldn't work because coconut flour cannot hold together to form an elastic dough. You need to mix it with another flour that can form an elastic dough before you can successfully use it to make meat pie dough. I explain that characteristic of coconut flour in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKmhqyEot-JaKs
