In Norway, we eat it warm with sugar, cinnamon and a knob of butter right in the center! If we have leftovers my mum makes ricecream for dessert the following day. Just add whipped cream and and serve with some berries! You could even make mini-ricepancakes. You defs should try that btw. 5 dl cold riceporridge, 4 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp vanilla sugar, 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 eggs. Mix in the eggs first, then the rest of the ingredients and fry them off in a pan and serve with jam. I do this with oatmeal as well, it's delish!

Oh yes, rice porridge with cinnamon and sugar. It's amazing. I'm from sweden btw. One thing I love with it is something they usually have when at Christmas they serve rice porridge in school, which is saftsås, or saftsoppa, which is like a sauce or soup made from berries. Like a slightly thickened clear berry sauce, and I usually pour it around the porridge keeping the sugar and cinnamon in the middle and eat it with the rice.

We do not have rice pudding in Thailand but the closest dessert I could relate to would be the mango and sticky rice. Cooked glutinous rice is put into a pot of warm coconut milk that has been sweetened with sugar and the rice is left to absorb all the liquid. The result would look like regular sticky rice served alongside ripe mangoes and maybe with a dash of extra coconut milk on top. Putting lemon grass into the rice pudding seems very strange to me as lemon grass are used mainly as a herb for a savoury dish e.g. tom yum because of it's strong smell But this dish seems very creative and I would love to try it!

There is (in my opinion) an easier way to dice the mango. You leave the skin on, cut both sides off from the seed, cross hatch cut the flesh but not puncturing the skin, and push on the back flipping the cubes out making it easy to just remove.

In Vietnam, there is a similar dish to the one you made. My family calls it mango sticky rice, where the sticky rice is cooked in coconut water and a whole mango and a coconut cream sauce is drizzled onto the rice and ripe mango. The coconut cream is usually very sweet, but the mango balances out the sweetness. Maybe you should check it out. It's been a favorite for everyone who's tried it.

@ArbitraryDoom10 жыл бұрын
My local Thai place has this on the dessert menu sometimes (they only offer it when the mango is super sweet) they have the rice hot and more chewy than creamy so I would not necessarily call it a rice pudding it looks more like when you first take it out of the fridge. I did not think I would like it that much, but is so mind-numbingly good we always get it when they have it.

The Thai do this with glutinous rice and it's not a pudding, rather it's cooked like regular rice and coconut milk is ladled over the top. I'd totally sub the regular mango for your salsa though. That sounds like an amazing concoction!

This might be strange, but my family have always made it with a lime peel. It's taste great and I can always tell if it was cooked without one. My family is from Michoacán, Mexico btw. This looks good and I'm sure it tastes good too. But the real Thai mango sticky rice uses sticky rice (not risotto rice) and really sweet mangoes on the sticky rice. No lime juice, mint leaves and pistachios are added. Then lastly with some coconut milk and a sprinkling of sesame seeds on top the mangoes, it just tastes sooo delicious. I love it... It's one of my favorite desserts :)

You can also cut down on either side of the mango seed, then scoop the flesh out of the skin "bowl". Less wasteful! For the parts remaining around the seed, I usually just peel off the peel (hehe) in one strip and cut the flesh off.

Allison M Hmm, we have tried sweet pasta before and it worked... Never tried with orzo though! You might have to adjust cooking time and amount of liquid, but it might work! It's quite different from the rice though!

I think I'll give it a go with the risotto rice the first time I make it just so I can wrap my head around the recipe. Maybe I can try with the orzo another time when mangos are actually in season. @luizaminghella678510 жыл бұрын
Soft serve ice cream is made with chemicals, and then they fill it with air so it's lighter. It certainly has less fat than posh ice cream which is made with cream and milk which is very fatty. The soft scoop ice cream from a tub is also made like soft serve, it's just soft serve (from a van) hasn't fully frozen so it is softer in the cone.
