Good video, the leader knot you use is weaker than the mainline on your reel so it parts easy, i use the bimmini hitch knot takes a bit of pratice but is the strongest leader knot, stronger than the main line itself, i fished Bristol channel myself for the first time last Saturday in Portishead not far from Battery point, for a doggie and a 6lb thornie, both caught at range on squid using rotton bottom tatics, i lost three leads nothing else, i was surprised how rugged the terrain was, but found a clear piece of shore to cast from for a while before high water pushed me up on the ledges, looking forward to going again but will wait for a bottom end neap tide again, the tidal range there is amazing, reminded me of fishing the Thames in Kent with rocks instead of mud, good luck.

Nice to hear someone on youtube stating the truth about fishing. Ive gone 3month without catching a cod during winter on North Yorkshire coastline. Had best baits good seas and out a couple of times a week. Like you said Rhys you cant catch them if they not there 👍👍

I feel your pain on a mark like that ! Got to agree that the bimini is worth learning to tie.I think there's some info on Veals website which includes that area 👍🐟

Hi Rhys &Sam, that Lady Bay seems like a right ball breaker. You’d need to be a bit dedicated to fish there. Good luck on your next session.

Should of gone past the first point on to the flat ledges as your casting onto sand, first point is full of sand coral although it does throw up some good fish 👍

On the first point at Layde bay the snags are all to the right, the left hand side is clearer ground. Oliver’s angling knows where the snags are and will tell you where not to cast. Good video tho, I know how frustrating the snags are in the Bristol Channel 😂

Still an enjoyable video Rhys but if the fish are not feeding you won’t get them and it don’t matter there were no fish you stuck it out and gave us something to watch so thanks for that till the next one take care

Rhys, pier at Clevedon not worth the effort when you're not a member. Being a member gives you 24hr access whereas day anglers have to pay at the gate. Quite pricey per rod too. Next time, try the pump House on an evening tide. (pump house is by the outdoor old swimming pool) snaggy like lady Bay, but bit more comfortable to stand on. 😉 Tight lines bud.

should of tryed lower down the channel burnham lowerlight as an exsample can fish it any state of the tide which is a rare one for a channel mark fishing on mud/sand fishing into mud /sand throws up loads fo cod 5 of us went about this time last winter had 12 cod between us 2 dubble figure all fell to single blow lug baits on 2 hook clip downs dont need a huge cast eather as one of the dubble figure fish was caught no more than 10 yards out
