Hands down, my favorite singer-songwriter under age 45! While he didn't write this one, his performance of it really brought it to life. Don't know alot about Cody except the songs he sings...don't really think he would appreciate a "fanboi" anyway :-) And I wouldn't worry too much about scuffing up your boots...go to a Luckenbach show and they'll be covered in dust as soon as you get out the truck! Just remember, if you see a fine looking lady you'd like to meet, just quickly wipe the toe of your boot across the back of your jeans on the opposite leg and you'll be set! :-)

David, I had to laugh about the boots, my boys do it all the time. Plus they wear starched shirts and jeans and their boots are polished when they are stepping out. that's the . TEXAS WAY right? .so Don's boots would fit right in.

Cody Jinks is one of the best! You mentioned the note being from his mother. He actually wrote a song for his mother, "Mamma Song", a great song. The video from Luckenbach Song Swap is a good video of Cody singing a lot of his songs. Enjoyed your reaction!

@@RockN2Country I wish I had a great story for you about my screen name. Maybe I chose it because it reminds me of how I want to live my life. I have no desire for a fancy house, car, or clothes. I am enjoying the simple life. But really, I just thought it was a cool screen name. Ha! Thanks for asking about it!

Love this song. Cody almost definitely wrote this himself. He writes (or at least co-writes) almost all of his music. Also, Less Wise was released in 2010 (re-released in 2017) and was his first full-length album.

Don do yourself a favor and check out Cody Jinx's "Vampires". kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJ3HaH54gbhon7s It was done some years after " Last call for the Blues". Jinx has had some time to hone his skills. The link above takes you to a recent show and Red Rocks. Well done quality recorded show that by the the way has a much crisper mature Cody singing "last call for the Blues". His best work to date.

Please react to Johnny Cash singing "Sunday Morning Coming Down" . This is a song written by Kris Kristofferson and I think Kevin it is one of the best country songs of all time. Also great story on how Kris got Johnny to listen to the song., kind of hard not to listen to a song when the guy that wrote it lands a helicopter opted on your front lawn.

I know what you mean Todd but don't give up yet! Country music has branched out in so many directions, you just have to really hunt now for the artists doing "your type" of country. We were stationed in Colorado for eight years and all the country they played was top-40 bubblegum...didn't even have a classic country station! I eventually figured out how to stream my local station from there. The station's called "The Outlaw" and plays a mix of outlaw (old & new), Red Dirt, and Texas country...the dial in my truck never moves from it! :-)

@@carlahuff4307 Thanks Carla for being my new buddy...they're getting harder everyday to come by! I have alot of music to suggest, but poor Don's list is so long, I feel kinda bad for loading him down. Seems like alot of people just pick garbage played a 1000x's on the radio and then request it... :-(
