As promised, here is a video on making coffee jelly! Surprising and tasty!
I will say, based on my experience with this jelly, add probably 1/4 cup more pectin than called for.
I am also starting a series on reviewing canning jar lids. There have been so many issues with canning lids the last couple of years, I want to show you my experiences with them. This video will feature For Jars Canning Lids.
Also, I will be doing a giveaway for 2 - $25 gift certificates from For Jars. Please stay until the end of the video for details. The deadline for the giveaway is June 1, 2022.
Here is a 10% discount code if you are interested in trying them. VICKIESCOUNTRY

I have never had a lid fail from the Big canning name until this year. I have had 5 lid fails from multiple batches this year from lids that 8 purchased since last year. At least I can put each one in the fridge to use but it’s still frustrating. I am eager to try my For Jar lids.

Hi Vickie. I became a Master Food Preserver back in the 80's. Living off grid then, I canned everything we produced, food wise, from mushrooms to tuna, and used hundreds of good old Ball canning lids with great success. I am planning on beginning to can again (we do have 3 freezers LOL), but have seen that now some folks have problems with lid quality these days. Looking forward to your tests of these lids and others as I'm a stickler for doing it right the first time. I still have my 47 year old Presto pressure canner, but will start more simple with a newer steam canner, adjusting for our 5400 ' elevation here in Reno. I canned, and I'm still alive!!

Hi Miss Vicki. I have slowly bought everything that I need to can for the very first time! So basically I have never tried any lids yet. I am thinking that my first canning should be something simple like maybe a fruit jelly and I'll leave the more difficult coffee jelly to the experienced canners LOL. Very nice tutorial I was able to follow along very well. Thank you and God bless you. Shirley

Hi Miss Vickie, I absolutely love coffee!! Ill have to research how to use this besides with the breakfast dishes since Im the only one who really eats Jams or Jellies I will only make certain jams/jellies that can also be used in desserts or dinners. But I am interested in trying this. Reminds me of Wine jelly. I received it as a gift but wasn't sure how to use it lol (This was many years ago when I didnt know much about cooking). It didn't taste the best on toast. I ordered ForJars lids awhile ago in a large quantity to reserve as backup. Im so glad of all the positive reviews I have seen thus far. I look forward to your next video :)

I always let my jars sit in the canner for 5 minutes with the lid on (after it’s come down from pressure) and another 10 minutes with the lid off, before I remove them from the canner. I started doing it when I realized my jars would siphon from the jar lifter grabbing them. Now, I almost never have siphoning. When I steam can, I remove the pressure canner lid immediately but, let the jars sit for ten minutes, the same as when I pressure can. I will say, when steam canning, I find that there’s way more wait time to find out if the jars have sealed…lol Incidentally, I’m thinking that would be good over vanilla ice cream or mixed into cake batter and buttercream frosting. I would even put a tablespoon or two in my taco meat (coffee is my secret ingredient). Yum 😋 I haven’t used ForJars lids, I haven’t gotten around to buying them yet. I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t use these lids for…lol

We're did you find this recipe ? I kinda wondered if it's a concoction. I often make things up, concoctions ...it takes things up a notch from boring and normal. I've been experimenting with the low sugar pectin , surejell and a 1/4 sugar , a cup of honey and a cup of splenda. Besides the fruit and lemon juice, I usually cook it down some as well. They have actually turned out , well , and even taste very good.😊

I have never used For Jars or even heard of them until your video. I mostly can meats because my apartment freezer is tiny and I wanted to be able to stock up when there were sales. Since then I have canned applesauce, a few veggies and chili. Ingredient canning is my preference but recently started to venture into canning chili and am looking at some other soups as well. Recently I was disappointed because 6 jars of ground beef canned with Tatler lids failed and spoiled on the shelf. Tatlers seem to hold perfect on the applesauce and beans but for foods without liquids I will switch back to traditional metal lids, at least for now.
