Exactly. Religions have the same proportion of murderers, rapists, pedophiles, thieves, con-men, and general crappy people as the rest of the population. They just get to hide behind the “religious” tag. By the way, it’s my opinion that all religions are cults and children should be educated about this (I know it will never happen). Just look up the definition of the word, “cult.”

That is very much an "outsider" opinion. I'm not saying you do OR should believe in a God, but why would someone who DOES believe in God dismiss the idea that God might speak to them. That is the voice of a non-believer trying to make a "rule of thumb" to apply to believers. It only applies to theists, but it would only make sense to non-theists. 🤷‍♂️

Hey Adrian! I’m Swedish, and I was so happy to see that you’re covering the really messed up cases from my beautiful country 😂 in here, whenever one says ‘Knutby’ (the name of the village) people immediately know what you’re talking about. Some years have already passed since the incident, and most people are behind bars, but it’s very disturbing to know how common this actually is. We call “frikyrkor” (free churches) all those churches which are outside the Swedish Church, but as they are outside the Church, which is a state organisation, the government and other institutions don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. More awful, yet, there are people I know outside of Knutby which have had to deal with similar cases (although not murder, thank God!!!) Wonderful research as always, and as we would say in here, tack för allt ditt otroligt arbete!! 💛💙🇸🇪🇸🇪

I really appreciate the focus on the victims and the deep care you obviously put into your research 💜 there's a case from my hometown in Chapel Hill, NC that I only just became aware of and would love to see you cover. A young Native American university student, Faith Hedgepeth, was assaulted and murdered in her apartment in 2012 and there is yet to be sufficient justice. There's a cryptic note left at the scene, a pocket dial voicemail that might have recorded Faith's last moments and the voices of her attacker (s), and a recent but highly scrutinized arrest. Faith's family, tribe, and community all want answers and justice and there are not nearly enough eyes and ears on her case. I never knew Faith, but this is my community, she died at the same age that I got married. She had so much light to give and so much more life to live; and though it's small, I feel a responsibility to say her name and try to bring awareness to her case. You're not forgotten, Faith!

@@Unknown-xx7ft no... That is not at all how it works. I believe it is a few years before you can ask to have your release date set. Helge got convicted in 2004 and got his time set in 2019 and he was set to serve 26 years. He god parole in 2022 and is now living as a free man. No judge can extend a sentence in Sweden, then can only shorten it by giving parole.

I'm Swedish and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in Sweden who isn't familiar with this case. Say "Knutby" (the "k" is not silent, btw, so it's pronounced "Knutby" not "Nutby") and everyone will immediately think of this story. Åsa (The "å" is pronounced like an elongated "oh") isn't without her own controversy either and is probably as closely linked to this case as Helge and the nanny. Let me put it this way, she's known in the church/cult as "Kristibrud" ("the bride of Christ") and she runs it as such. The murder aside, I think you can find plenty of documentaries and texts written about Åsa alone in connection to this.

YES FINALLY! I'm from Sweden and I'm so fascinated by this case I'm so glad you chose to cover it, thank you!! Edit: Except for pronouncing the names wrong, which I totally understand since you're not a swedish speaker, your research is really good! Great job!! Although Helge was not in love with Åsa's sister, Åsa forced them to marry each other because she thought it was necessary and "God" wanted it for some reason... And Helge DEFINITELY killed Helen, no doubt about it. She had his prescription meds in her blood. And also, I feel bad for Sara in a way because she was so brainwashed and manipulated by Helge (and Åsa) and she's been diagnosed with a few mental illnesses since. Of course it doesn't justify murder but still. She was considered to be "wrong" by Åsa so the entire community shut her out except for Helge so the only person she had left was her manipulator and he convinced her, through the texts, that killing Alexandra and Daniel was the only way for Åsa to take her back and for her to go to heaven (like you said). And on top of that Sara didn't even really want to sleep with Helge but she felt like she had to since it's was "Godly" and "if she really loved God" she would show that by having s*x with him.... Something else that's important to highlight is that Åsa is a horrible person as well. She abused all of the female members of her cult both physically and mentally. She didn't get any prison time for her horrible crimes and she only paid a few thousands in damage and she's protected under a new name. The priest that joined her after Helge was in prison called Urban was also a terrible man who r*ped teen girls and told them it was God's will and that they were his "daughters". You should really look into that as well if you find it interesting!

Nuance and critical thinking is key here. While you and I(for the most part) are sound of mind, some people are not. Helge searched for women with low self esteem and likely suffering from mental illness. That's how these cults work. A person who is sane would never fall for this. Also no one "let themselves" get manipulated that's not how that works. Emotional abuse is just as strong as physical abuse and as a survivor it's something I could attest to

@@CAHSR2020 I don't know where you're from, but I could only speak on my part of the world and give my own insight on my view on prisons here in the US. I'll start by saying it's not like I don't see where you are coming from. I imagine my own stance on rehabilitative justice would be shaken if I lost a loved one to violence. We're only human right? Apologies for TLDR If you were asking me if the mastermind should be locked up for the good of society than I would say yes, as the current there's nothing you can do for such a person. But her? No. Using my own country as an example, good healthcare especially mental healthcare is damn medieval compared to the rest of the world. It's easier to bar entry to those that need with how expensive it is then let them become a problem later so our prison industrial complex could make money from their labor. Even with that aside, I do agree she should face punishment for her actions, prison will not solve all of your problems. You become a worse person than you were before you enter and when you leave, job opportunities are slim to none so you fall back into a life of crime. We need to allocate resources toward institutions that lead to a life of crime and murder in the first place so we could prevent these things from happening. I don't have all the answers, but I do believe the victims from her actions should be seen to and taken care of. I believe there must be a way to better people who aren't predators and to ensure we live in a safer society. But she is not a predator, just someone that could be a normal person had she been in a positive and less predatory environment. Again, I know what this is like and have loved ones who endured the same thing. You lose your sense of self then become the tool of the one that's pulling your strings. Trying to find a sense of normalcy has been quite the effort since I can't afford mental healthcare. (Not trying to win a debate by appealing to a sense of morality of emotion. Just using a person experience to get a point of across)
