It genuinely brought tears to my eyes to see him bringing such joy and laughter to that base. Military life is depressing and incredibly stressful so this is some much needed medicine.

You should stand outside of military recruiting offices and tell those who are thinking about joining the armed forces. Don't forget to tell them; When you're not depressed or stressed on you military base, they send you out to kill people from other countries in unjustified and/or poorly thought-out wars. That should cheer them up.

In the past, the missile silo Air Force teams have been known as the Guardians. In fact I think their in-service magazine was called 'The Guardian',, so this passed on verynaturally to the Space Force .

My Dad flew for the USAF out of Thule and Goose Bay Labrador. He even helped build the bar in Goose Bay back in the 50's. He would have loved this.

@@paulzisk5174 Pretty remote in those days. I do see roads on maps (I assume they are paved now. Back then they were just basic logging roads from what my Dad told me) out to Goose Bay and I'm really tempted to go up there and check it out for myself sometime soon.

As an air force member (Thule was outs until like 6 months ago), most people did not choose to be there. And the ones who did choose to be there did so to get away from a crap assignment, to get a choice of whatever assignment they wanted, or both.
