Describing Peter Strzok's congressional hearing as 'going off the rails' is an insult to defective trains.

Saying that the agent is under subpoena and threatening him with contempt for not answering? 1. He wasn't under subpoena; he'd appeared willingly and 2. The committee had allowed Steve Bannon to refuse to answer questions.

+Squash Head I don't think so. While it's true that the credibility of every witness is questionable, the fact is that we have all lied about something at some point, yet that doesn't automatically prove we'd lie in a judicial setting (unless we'd been caught lying in a judicial setting in the past). I mean, I lied to my parents about eating cookies when I wasn't supposed to, but does that prove I'd lie to a judge in a courtroom? That the lie in this case was an affair is, judicially speaking, no greater a lie than if Strzok had told his wife every day that she didn't look fat in a dress when she did; neither Virginia nor D.C. have anti-adultery laws, so Strzok and Page's affair wasn't even illegal (nor was lying about it to their spouses) and the repercussions are entirely social. So Gohmert can try to argue it as a moral failing, but again, we've _all_ lied about something. He just chose the easiest-and weakest-angle of attack and ignored literally every other possibility for Stzrok _maybe_ (not even confirmed to be) withholding information or otherwise lying. It was a cheap shot made in frustration that was merely intended to throw red meat to the GOP base.

Well said! Thank you. Where did Ethics go? Where did Truth go? Wonderful to hear the clapping at the end of Strzok speech, which was promised by the chair...then the chair tried to not keep his promise...then the chair Finally (!) allowed Agent Strzok to speak. His speech was brilliant and the instant clapping after the speech was Very Gratifying. Agent Strzok did a great job! Those trying to stand up for the rules did a great job! The GOP Love “Winning” with Russia’s help. They are doing all they can to ensure more of the same for our future “elections”. They will break all rules to “win”. Lots of Tin Soldiers in the GOP. I pray they will “ride away” very soon. 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍 All the kidnapped and jailed children are still not reunited with their parents. They did not keep records of family names and children. Then parents were deported without their children. Why weren’t the children and parents deported together? Where is the house investigation for these Real Crimes committed by their “beloved comrade, the trump”. Guess the GOP decides what crimes matter. Shameful. 2 Judges have made lawful rulings...a real miracle since the trump signed an executive order to fire judges who do not rule the way he wants! This is a Dictatorship! Fact Check!

@Sigart 6 жыл бұрын
You have the right to free speech, but not the right of protection of social or economical consequences. Basically, you can say what you want, however, if anyone finds out, like, say, your boss, he's got the right to execute _his_ right to free speech and fire you. Same as restaurant owners can protest against certain government employees by denying them service, that's also exercising their right to free speech. I believe what this hearing was about, however, was the possibility that his personal opinions may have influenced his work. A loophole, possibly, but still meant the government were not questioning his right to speak freely but rather the possibility that he may have committed a form of fraud while employed by the government.

And the thing is, it should not be this funny. Politicians are supposed to work for us & the common good, not provide entertainment (intentionally or no). However long this administration lasts, multiply that by 10 or 20 before things even begin to get back to normal. As much as we will always need an idealistic "Mr. Smith" type of politician, they will become an even more extinct life form after this. The bar has been set THAT low.

Perhaps that's what you need in America. Perhaps civility is wasted on these people. Perhaps they're not as brave as they may appear and by making them look the fool they are, they will rethink, reconsider, and change their minds just a little bit. PUSH BACK! Why be kind and polite to those who only wish to troll and hate? Bring a civil discussion if you want to engage. But if you want to target the strife in another mans family, well you can just fuck right off!

May you yanks have him as a president or is it too late to be hopeful yet? Because, he is one sexy looking president. Man, deserves a pay rise for just sticking it to these members of Congress. You need more people like Agent Strzok he is the way forward, I thought the FBI was a joke but he proves to me that the FBI is an amazing organization with a passion for what they stand for. Nice to see someone have a backbone to stand up for what's right and fair. Next thought, who the hell else on Mueller's team if this is just one guy! Like oh my lord, can't wait for the end
@Xanthelei
@Xanthelei 6 жыл бұрын
For one, Mueller himself. When I heard they put him in charge of this (and that he came out of retirement to get the job done) I couldn't place why that made me happy. Then I looked him up and remembered where I'd heard of him before. He did an excellent job before retirement and before this was one of the most respected FBI agents still alive. Even the Republicans who hate him now were happy to hear he accepted the job. Guess they didn't think he'd uncover anything - which is stupid as shit, the man has always been thorough.
@RockBandRS
@RockBandRS 6 жыл бұрын
Xanthelei It's funny, Mueller is registered Republican. So, I think Republicans hoped Mueller would be as horrible as them and put party over country. Unlucky for them, he has integrity and will put country over party. On top of that he's a well respected investigator.
@Xanthelei
@Xanthelei 6 жыл бұрын
Yup, and he was one of the Republicans that held my respect as I started into the world of politics (as a citizen, pretty sure I'd be kicked out for being too blunt) in the Bush era as a staunch not-Republican. Thing is, I can handle having differing views of where the country should go, but not of what and where truth and facts are or come from. Mueller has always held truth and fact over politics, and seemed to want above all else for actual justice and truth, and that's why even those who disliked his personal stances respected him. He never let his personal bias override doing his job with integrity. Even when Bush was President, that seemed like a rare thing. Now he seems to be practically a unicorn... All I can hope is he's taken where the party is personally and is rounding up as much of the corruption as he can in one fell swoop to kick them out of power.

so if you and your lunch break buddies play "F***, Marry, Kill" in the break room, it's proof that your entire company is involved in a conspiracy to murder and subvert the free will of three people? of COURSE people in the FBI have their own politics. what's conspiracy-theory about all of this is how you knuckleheads seem convinced that two brazen young government workers somehow had the entire facility at their beck and call and weren't just, you know, saying exactly the same kind of shit I'd be saying in their positions minus the admittedly shitty affair part but again, like, if 50% of ANY party's politicians aren't having affairs I'd be fucking dumbfounded, so it's incredibly hysterical when ANYONE tries to throw that in ANYONE else's face, period. all politicians should be taught in school to NEVER bring up someone else's infidelity or general shittiness to their spouses because it doesn't seem likely most of them are capable of coming out clean there. you can even be held responsible for your spouse being the shitty one, if you're in politics. because these people are soulless, spineless greed-monsters. why, it's almost like they can't be looked to as a standard of morality!
