Nice reaction lads! I'll leave the future Chisel recommendations to others, as I see all the songs represented below in the comments anyway! However, I will say if you're interested in them, I've always considered this song 'Khe Sanh' to be part of the 'holy trinity' of Australian returned servicemen songs, (I'm one myself), alongside : Eric Bogle's "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" & Redgum's "I Was Only 19 (A Walk In The Light Green)" Khe Sanh speaks particularly to the wanderlust of many veterans who returned frequently to south east asia after the war, and the struggle for acceptance and being able to put down roots again. Bogle's (A Scots born Australian) piece is a classic folk song of protest, which depicts the experience of an unnamed soldier of World War 1 whom returns maimed from the war, while Redgum's speaks particularly of the PTSD and trauma, and the mental scars, with a memorable chorus that references triggering experiences at home, that result in anxiety, fear and ill health. All three songs are staples amongst the veterans community here, less so with my generation (Iraq/East Timor/Afghanistan), but in particular with my fathers and grandfathers, who served in Vietnam and WW2 respectively. Keep the reacts coming! All the best!

Only five songs to give a flavour of Aussie songs. Is like saying Neighbours lets you know what life is like in Australia. Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss and Cold Chisel have tremendous catalogues. Originally from Adelaide they were huge in Australia for years and are still active.

The bloke on the harmonica is David Blake. The bloke on drums is Steve Prestwich. Sadly, he passed away in (I believe) 2012.

thank you for introducing Cold Chisel to the rest of the world! Khe Sanh is our unofficial anthem & gets everybody head banging at parties. May I suggest getting a copy of "Barking Spiders Live" as a Cold Chisel Best Of album...it has ALL their great songs along with the best rendition of "Bow River"

The song was written by Don Walker, the guy on keyboards. All 5 members of Cold Chisel have written at least one hit song for the band.

@@TheThamesmen mate there are so many bangers from so many genres for Chisel it is hard to narrow down, but here goes: When the War is Over (live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmW6qKRvlN-hlcU , Flame Trees kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWmumINolrSLmaM , You Got Nothing I Want kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3PMe36nbN6ho9U , Janelle (live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJKVdX2ZgJhjhZo But honestly I put pick about 14 more anthems by this lot, not including the solo work by the two lead singers

Cold Chisel is a band that all Aussie kids from the suburbs have grown up with. These guys and an immense number of hard rocking Aussie pub rock bands were a mainstay on the radio when I grew up working in my Dad's tyre shop. Hard Rock, sweat, and burnt rubber put me through school.

The drummer, Steve Prestwich was a powerful drummer and an amazing lyricist - (examples Flame Trees and When the War Is Over) he died in 2012 I think and is very missed.
