This was a nice song, I hope you've got 'Saturday Night' on your play list. Also, the sweet as fronted by Brian Connolly was a great band for their harmonies; one of the few bands to have 4 brilliant singers and so much personality. I don't think I've heard a better falsetto than Andy Scott (Solid Gold Brass, Starlight). They were huge in Australia but didn't get the world-wide recognition they should have. They influenced so many bands that came after them.
@sean---the-other-one2 жыл бұрын
I think I wrote this on yesterday’s video, but I’ll reiterate it. A fantastic 1-2 punch combination in Mossy’s and Barnesy’s vocals. So good at complementing each other tonally. With bands that have two or more singers sometimes it’s hard to tell who is doing which vocal (sometimes I struggle to pick John or Paul in a particular Beatles song and then realise it’s George), but I can always tell whether it’s Ian or Jimmy. Totally distinctive, yet a great blend. And this show still highlights Jimmy when his voice was still completely solid. Awesome stuff. Great track choice, Chris!

I remember being devastated when they broke up, I was at Trade school in late 83 and a guy in my class told me that they were having their last concerts in Sydney. I lived in Melbourne and though I was 18 didnt have my drivers licence yet so couldn't drive my 1974 Cortina that was sitting in my driveway. I drove the thing up and back the driveway every day a million times until getting my licence in February 1984, I drove the neighbours and my parents mad. I wanted to get a ticket and fly up but my Dad said no in regards to flying up plus the tickets sold out in no time. I think a lot of their fans were pissed off at the time because it was fairly sudden. I bought the Last Stand concert on VCR which was great but would have loved to have been there. Seen Barnsey and Mossy many times solo but still haven't seen Chisel live in any of their reformed tours.Maybe one day but at 58 getting too old.

Don Walker later re-did this song as "Danielle" with his part time (one album every six years) post Chisel band "Tex, Don, and Charlie". Along with his solo albums these feature Don's singing of his own sings which gives them a different vibe to the Barnes/Moss treatment of his work that works just as well (the T,D, & C also feature the vocals of Tex Perkins who blends well with Don).

Good evening G'uvnors.. This is one of my FAVE Ian Moss vocals.. and such a beautiful song.. And yes, Aussies call their BEST mates C*NT.. baaahaa Its a great song because (as a muso speaking) its a "familiar" chord progression (blues rock) but it ISNT the "traditional" one you are thinking of, just slightly differently "modally".. (the way it rotates and resolves to the key), so it has a nice "familiarity" even on first listen.

Hi guys, I missed this drop yesterday, so it's like a double reaction day for me. BONUS! Yeah, the Bro-code; this separates men from their owners. Men have a code of war and try to work to an organized structure to please our overlords. Whereas women are like cats. They are the overlords ... and if confronted by another overlord, they will just go sit on the windowsill in the sun and wait for a suitable opportunity to attack and destroy their rival. (Disclaimer: these comments result from my continual failure to meet the expectations of previous overlords and are no way a reflection on overlords in general). George and Alex, now we are building. This is a beautiful song and is a beautifully shot version (I'm with Alex on this, I think it sounded like a Hammond here). Janelle is an example of why Chisel had so much depth. Even their fillers were exquisitely written songs and performed with such complexity and emotion. Great choice Chris, love it.

At this point I am waiting for the performance/track where I think "that was good, but not up to the level Chisel usually reaches." I have yet to hear it and that says to me they are a remarkably consistent band despite sounding amazing every time I've heard them.

Reformed in '88? I think that should be '98? Last Wave of Summer EP and Tour of the same name. Was a bloody great concert too, but Ringside in 2002 I thought was as good as one could get! Crazily, when they performed at the Sydney 500 Supercars event in 2009..... I don't know why, I don't know how.... there's never been a tighter rock set that I've seen in 45 years of concert going!
@shaundgb73672 жыл бұрын
They definitely did not reform in the 80's. That album they left with in 1983 called Twentieth Century was bittersweet as had so many wonderful songs like this and Saturday Night that we loved after they broke up. Jimmy Barnes was full on into his solo career for rest of 80's and so was Ian Moss in his. I think they broke up maybe because drummer Steve Prestwhich and Jimmy would be willing to kick each other in the balls around this early 80's time. For some reason I thought it was Phil Small and Jimmy that would fight a lot but think it turned out to be Jimmy and Steve. So glad they did reform for new albums in the 80's. I only started listening to music when they broke up so was bittersweet this band I fell in love with were already broken up with the concert movie Last Stand was on at the cinemas. I actually saw Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss individually on their solo careers and as good as they were as solo artists the band itself was so magical having them all together. I never actually expected them to re-form together and see them live so making the most of this Live Stand footage was all I had for decades as a fan.

As the youngest girl, with two brothers who had more time for me than my big sister, also having more male friends than female, I can vouch for that. I always admired males for their ability to forgive after a fight, I only had two female friends as forgiving as I am. Lol, every girl who had a crush on Mossy wanted to change their name to Janelle when it came out. Such beautiful sentiment and meaning behind it too.
