A couple things: It becomes much easier to change your beliefs when you have the big 3 down: good sleep, exercising regularly, and eating whole foods. + hanging around with positive people, consuming positive stuff (food + media), etc. You are what you consume. I don't think anyone is "perfect" (I regret saying that). Perfection doesn't exist and is very subjective. The people who are not insecure have embraced that they aren't perfect, and they never will be. Hope this video helps.

Same thing happened to me in the same time period (plus I lost a close coworker/friend whom I saw as a mentor) and this kind of approach you showed changed my life. I've been doing some mediation and other mindful activities, working out, eating well, etc in the past but slowly drifted away from them in recent years. However, these events really got me back on track and now I'm stronger than ever. For you out there in similar shoes remember: “Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” And thanks for the great vid as always, Adam

Here’s a tip for everyone: If you ever find yourself talking down to yourself in moments of stress, just know that it’s your mental programming from the past. Most of the time we can’t create our future because we allow our PAST to dictate what happens next… Your present insecurities are lies. So the next time you catch yourself mentally slipping, bring yourself back to the moment and think about your future. - Your Friendly Neighborhood Coach

@@amyk9813 If your future doesn't look bright, then MAKE it bright. There's a HUGE difference of seeing your future with your eyes and with your imagination. Its pretty hard, i reach a spot where food just doesnt as good, i hear again and again the mockery i heard in the past, i go to the gym and i feel insecure, i go out and i feel bitter about seeing people happy, i feel angry at happy couples and i hate feeling like that so i just lock myself away. Trying to compliment myself and feel like an idiot, inscinsere and i hate myself more for being a fool. Its not an excuse, i know my head isnt working right, but its just more and more dificult to get up and do something because i just dont see the point, i feel like i allowed myself to lag behind so much that i cant really catch up anymore.

I think it’s important to learn how to see the difference between the thoughts that are actually you, & the thoughts that are really just thought patterns that you’ve (unconsciously) allowed to play over & over in your head. If you let your mind run on autopilot it’s easy to take whatever thoughts come into your head as your own, when a lot of the time they’re not. Whenever you find yourself in a spiral of negative thoughts take the time to ask yourself if you actually believe what you’re saying to yourself, & if you do, then take the time to get to the root of that thought and understand where it’s coming from

You're right about the linguistic theory. It's called the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, which states that our worldview is largely built from the language that we speak. I remember taking a class in Anthropology several years ago, and I asked my professor this same question because I thought "well, in the Latin Languages [such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc.], their grammar is set up in such a way that they speak backwards compared to how we speak in English. I wonder if that has any impact on how they think?" You have very good insight. Language affects us much more than we realize. Social media, news media, the constant bombardment of advertisement...the list goes on and on. We have to try and protect our minds from the constant onslaught of negativity that surrounds us in our modern world. It isn't easy and I wish everyone the best when it comes to reprogramming their minds for the better.

Hi Cole, thank you for this video, the videos you upload always seem to come out exactly when I need them. Finding my self worth has always been a struggle and I have been feeling better about myself this last year. But sometimes the thoughts creep into my mind out of no where "You are not worthy of love. Why would anyone love you? You are not special and why would you think you deserve love?" But I just try to tell myself that this is just a response from my experiences with crappy relationships, but they are not true. I know I am loved every day by friends and family.

Throughout my journey i kind of got the realization that pain was the only way of my subconscious mind to communicate with my conscious mind, since we have no way of actively communicating with it, and the longer i thought about it it actually made a lot of sense to me, because as i stopped acting in a harmful way towards myself, the pain also went away. I kind of felt like it was a wakeup call, however for way too long, i wasn't able to interpret it in the right way.

i havent worked since my first job which i lost at the beginning of covid. today im doing a "trial day" for a construction contractor. im super nervous. i have terrible self worth and huge insecurities to the point im afraid if i get on anyones wrong side they could destroy me. this all to say, im terrified. but ive learned through past experience that the beginning is the hardest. im not lazy, im just more afraid than the average person. so taking the steps, even if its just saying "yes" to a job you applied to and didnt think you would get or deserve, that takes courage. and following through with the action after that builds confidence/respect for yourself. so if anyone is in a similar situation, drag yourself through it. its not as bad as you imagine. and the sleepless nights because of it will end.

My heart hurts too. Your comment really resonated with me because I feel so exhausted with life. I guess just want to say that you are not alone. I hope you are hanging in there and have found some support.

I see others too have similar issues that tears they're lives up , where you can't endure., and is way too overwhelmed. Sorry, you also have to suffer like this... Words are only powerful if you assign meaning to it in other words, they only have as much power as you give them. If no one told you what the meaning of worthless was for all you know you could be calling yourself red.

this video made me cry. my love language is words of affirmation so words are extremely important to me. all i heard growing up is that i wasn't enough. brown parents will never say anything positive about their kids lol. i'm trying to be better and trying to retrain my brain to value my words above anyone else's, but i'm not even going to lie, it's hard when i'm still living with my parents and can't escape them in lockdown. thank you cole, for all that you do. your videos have helped me so much and i am so grateful for them and you

Thank you for this brother! Not every day but I do similar exercises and it has dramatically increase my state of mind and productivity! I do breathing exercises and I observe my thoughts see where they lead and what's the significance about it then find the lie I've been told to make me feel a bad way about it 👌

Great! I am worth it! I can achieve my own personal success. I am growing and moving forward. Almost died of a colin abscess in February. Two weeks in hospital and had tested positive for covid in hospital. I was alone. Powerless, depressed. But I am 40, with a wife and 4 kids. I learned how strong and capable the human body( lost 18inches of small and large intestine, had 9inch incision...which was 1inch wide and 1 and 1/2 inches deep at bottom.) I struggled but told myself it happened for a reason. I didn't know I has crohn's, know I do. I eat, sleep, and exercise now and feel amazing! Confidence is going up and I have learned to say no. Easy word to spell...but hard to say sometimes. I was unhappy and a workaholic . The time home was a gift so I could reconnect with my wife and kids. Priceless journey and wouldn't change a thing. I struggle with depression, confidence, self image and staying focused still. But I know.have a better understanding of why I physically always felt sick and now don't let it run my life as much. (Work in progress) Thank.you Cole for the inspiration and words I have needed to hear. Now it is my job to put them to practice. I feel for the first time in my adult life excited for future instead of dread. Keep it up!

I don't usually comment on videos, but I can defintely say this. Your content is underrated. I feel I can relate to everything you said, especially your loneliness video. Thank you for providing your insights, it's helping me go through the COVID pandemic here in Australia, especially since the fact my ex recently broke up with me.
