what helped me combat social anxiety a lot is the realization that people are not going to focus on your messing up, because they all worry about themselves to begin with. And if you do mess up, it's going to be forgotten very quickly by others. Everyone is living their own lives, has their own stories, and this liberated me from the fear that people will judge me for anything I say or do. I still haven't fully recovered from social anxiety because it's still there like "hey, you just said this and that to your best friend now he hates you", though I hope even those thoughts of anxiety go as well.

*Mental Health issues has entered the chat* Yeah, don't think that's how it works for everyone. 😐 Also why? I would never want to not care about *anything* or *anyone.* if I managed to do that then I'd just be depressed, what's the point if nothing seems to matter and I don't care. I activity want to avoid that kind of thinking.
This video does explain why I feel so judged and don't really fit in with a group, even with my own family. The thing is, I've spent too much time alone, talking to myself, not realizing how negative the impact was on me. And, I haven't accepted myself for who I am, just spent time reflecting on my flaws.
@fivealry2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this helps or not, but personally I've been trying to see myself through other people's eyes more. Like I try to listen to little compliments I get, and I try to remember that my friends don't see me as the mess that I see myself as. They see me as just as amazing of a person as I think they are. I'm also trying not to overthink as much, or insult myself in my thoughts as much. And I've been constantly reminding myself that I'm a person, just like everyone else. I'm flawed but so is everyone else. You might have flaws, but hey, so do I! That doesn't make either of us awful people. I think people like us just have to focus a little more on our good traits and hope that someday we'll like ourselves more. And if you can spend time around good people that you care about that helps too. But anyways, sorry my comment is so long. I hope you're doing okay

A while ago, I was going through such a bad time that I couldn’t function, I mostly just sleep. One night, my friend texted me saying she felt under the weather. I immediately went to buy food and medicine, and brought it to her. I felt exhausted mentally and physically but never showed it. I always agree to hang out with my friend even on days I really needed space for myself. I’d always be willing to walk the extra miles to help people with their problems. I made people’s problem my problem It was extreme. I was over caring and over considerate Now I’m focusing on myself more. I ignore messages unless it’s something urgent. I tell my friend my reasons and that I hope they don’t take it personal. It’s so not easy for me because I feel guilty for needing space and not solving their problem, or listening to their rants. At least I feel like I’m slowly putting down a weight I’ve been carrying. I’m able to hear myself more when there’s no other voices and dramas and ranting. But I've learned that some folks won't care or appreciate what you do (or think you're dumb because you're working so hard, or a brown-noser, or whatever) and not everyone's gonna care about your efforts or appreciate you or what you do. I'm trying to remove the "doormat" label from my forehead and just do the work I need to do and move on. No more taking on more than my fair share just because I'm bored and I feel it needs doing. They can get off their phones and their butts and do their work instead of "miss stickler for the rules" doing it for them because I don't want to get in trouble. The main idea is stop caring about things that negatively affects you, like what people think of you, seeking validation, or always expecting the worst instead of believing in yourself. You shouldn't care about those things and care more on what actually matters like your personal growth, family, friends, hobby, things that makes you happy and who you are etc.

I have a friend that told me, "There's no such things as Maturity, only awareness and it's the only thing you need to know." When being told by that, I thought of it before that it's like when people ask you to be mature, and stop acting like a child or baby, you would think of being mature but you don't know how it'll make you one. So I told her that "you're right". At the moment, I thought to myself that it's better to have knowledge to things on your own then later on, listen to the thoughts of the society, so that you won't get overwhelmed, pressured, overthinking about the same subject, and also changing thoughts without thinking straight.

1. It's okay to care a lot, it's not okay to hurt yourself caring for other people's issues. 2. Do not cut off your feelings all together, everyday you will feel less alive then before you make that mistake. 3. Know when to express yourself and who to express yourself too. Don't show your feelings to anyone who undermines ANY of your feelings. 4. Empathy is a sign of understanding.. its a form of critical thinking. Don't downright throw it away, just know WHO to empathize with. 5. Follow your passion, your dreams, your hope, your inspiration. You follow those and no one's feelings will matter and the meaning in this video you would have solved yourself. 6. If you dont have any passions, dreams or inspirations. You did number two and cut off your emotions to much. (Your best bet is to get those feelings back and to do that follow the dreams you stopped caring about or ignored. Make your childhood dreams you stopped caring come true... it will surely bring back feelings you lost long ago).

So when i got hit by constant abuse by the people around me... it hit me HARD @Dxpress You definitely had some they just might not be big things. If you didn't have any childhood dreams you were likely very happy as a child or knew your parents couldn't give you much. They might have been small at the moment things like wanting to go surfing or going to a carnival or watch a certain movie and just because they aren't careers doesn't mean you have to be sad about that. Society tricks you into wanting careers (because they just want brainwashed workers). The point being you might be free spirited like a horse you know to cherish moments at that second rather then make a life's goal to achieve something. (Nothing wrong with that either.. having a career is better for your future but at the same time. You can die tomarrow and not realize it and then that's that.) They're is no wrong way to play Life, and people tend to forget that. Derphan is right though about one thing its good to have some ambition. Ambition is a wonderful emotion to have... the first time i felt Ambition was when i went Boxing. I usually am not the competitive type, i follow my flow. But this one dude who i was good friends always made me want to be better then him. We were friends but it was like a Rivalry at the same time. It's an Addicting emotion to have but it makes you never want to give up. If you don't have one... try to find your hobbies. Trust me... its an emotion you wont want to get rid of.

@lifestylemedicinals86922 жыл бұрын
There is absolutely a balance when it comes to our cares. In the wrong context, "not caring" could lead to worse states of being. What I've learned, at least for myself, is that I need to categorize my cares into 2 "baskets". One basket is "I need to care", the other is "It's not my business". Obviously, if not caring about a particular thing leads to further decay in mind, body or spirit, then you need to change that. Sometimes you can dissect different aspects of one issue and categorize your cares. For example: We shouldn't care what other people think to the point of it controlling our lives, but we should care to the point to where we set a good example and are being fully understood in our expressions. That way, we don't care what they think about the things that make us intrinsically who we are, but we do care that we are effectively being seen for who we actually are. Truly, "you" are not a slob who just devours potato chips. That's a learned behavior and habitual program. Who you are is deep at the core of your being, but life has attached labels and filters to you which have become a sort of "natural" response or way of handling things. Who you are is so much more magnificent than all of that. So you should care to show up as your true self, but not care what others think about your value as you navigate that journey. Disciplining ourselves and evolving is for the sake of our higher calling, not for the approval of others in a small moment. I apologize for the rant though lol. I just felt inspired to share this with you. Have a blessed day friend 🙏

This is part of our primordial brain of survival. The 1st part of this video about the basic needs I didn't realize until I viewed this video. The other thing to mention and realize is the power of our own minds and beliefs. Most people haven't been taught or learned about this. You are so right, I’ve been a people pleaser while using my own version of this mindset. I began to hate myself due to my inability to care and and thought I became a people pleaser which made me feel narcissistic. I still have so many regrets but someone helped me without knowing it because I was going through hard times and now I know why I’m so bitter, it’s because I’ve been depressed my whole life from caring about others thoughts

I have started doing this through a lot of self-thought. I have come to the same conclusion that you have and agree with you 100%. Find a hobby that you can afford, love, and never master. Meaning of life....have as much fun and do w/e it takes to make you happy.

It was exactly the same with me, this conclusion came to me after weeks and weeks of thinking and I've never felt more liberated, and I'm glad that so many others also had the same train of thought because that only shows that we're probably not wrong to think that way

I agree with the notion that we should view our life as an experience and shouldn’t value superficial things. However, although I would never advocate people pleasing, I do think that we should still be compassionate and learn from other people. We need to balance caring about others and our own needs of ourselves as people. Eliminating caring completely is inhumane because we share the world with others; but viewing, caring and life from a different perspective (like you said as an experience) helps a lot. I don’t personally think life should be viewed as a game as it is reality and not something we should take too lightly, but I agree that we need to learn let go of our own inner critics and stop being judgemental and live life to the fullest. Overall, great video. As a person who has an anxiety disorder, I used to people please a lot until I realized that it was hurting myself. That’s why balance is very important as that’s how most things in life work.

I learned how to stop caring about most people in middle school. I was going through some serious shit and I got beaten up for the first time just because of rumors that I was hitting girls. How it all started is that I refused to stand for the pledge of allegiance and some girls were getting pissed off because I was supposedly being "Anti-American". Yes I went to one of those schools. So then at the last day of school, the girls were pushing me when I was trying to go home. And since they were pushing first, I pushed back and I ran off. So the start of the next year, they were still harrasing me. And so when I went home, I wondered what was wrong with me. I couldn't tell if it was because I'm gay, or that I'm not completely white, or that I'm a left-winger in a right-winger town, or that's because of my looks, or how I dressed. And so I kept thinking, and came to this conclusion. "Why should I care when others don't?" So I started doing what I liked. And I've never cared about nearly anyone or anything since. Sorry for this long ass message.

When fcked stuff happens in my life i come back to this vid and remind myself it doesnt matter, and it helps put my mind in a nicer state and realise that the problems i have that seem so big to me arent anything in the grand scheme of things. Everyone should strive for this mindset and problems become smaller in the world.
@keneaterb.58084 жыл бұрын
This was very thought provoking and helpful. I’ve had some circumstances occur in my life that made me take a step back and reevaluate my life and the “why” of me caring so much. It’s not to blame other people, but I found that those close to me helped shape my perception of caring. I realize that it has kept me bound mentally. Because I always measured my actions according to their opinions. And to shift my mindset on this wasn’t easy. But it is liberating. I still love and respect those individuals but I don’t care what they think like I did before. And it’s so much easier to breathe. It’s like I have a new outlook now that is my own. Thank you for sharing.

Just another thought: You can fulfill these needs by yourself. 1. You can control your reactions to external thing 2. You can choose to accept yourself and everything as it is and as it goes (the impermanence of all things) by being present 3. You can realise the consistency of change and impermanence

I self-taught myself this, through not-so-great experiences with others. I would always try to talk to people how I felt and stuff, I learned the hard way that virtually no one truly cares enough. While it may not be healthy to bottle in most of my emotions, learning to stop caring about all these negative things has helped me an insane amount with coping and dealing with stress.

I talk with people about emotions, but only from a practical and analytical way which makes it far more interesting. Pattern recognizing and thinking critically based on the reality that our brains are evolved organs and what makes us human is that we've become aware of this and our awareness alone gives us power to change our own biology through will power and time. We put all our skill points into adaptability, so decide what you wanna be and be that. Just don't give up.

Great video homie! When I was younger I used to never care what people thought but in the last couple of years and a lot more social media time, I noticed I let those little fears slip back into my mind and control me. This video was super helpful and truly liberating once I heard the part that we all end up in the same place! Life is finite so, live to the fullest and follow your highest excitement! The problem for me started when I developed shyness which then turned into social anxiety because I started caring about what others thought of me whenever I said something awkward or inappropriate in a conversation, it got worse and worse until now I started caring too much about people’s opinions that I couldn’t even think of what I wanted to say, like my mind just goes blank whenever I’m in those situations now. When I’m finally able to come up with a response in a conversation while it’s somewhat relatable, it ends up coming out awkward and robot like because I kept overthinking it, and then people started making fun of me for that, I really wish I could fix this because It’s been ruining my mental health and social life since childhood.

There's no reason to have social anxiety. Just remember, even if you make a fool of yourself, no one cares and no one will remember, they're too consumed with themselves. And no interaction is awkward unless YOU decide that it is. Even if you approach a girl, fumble your words and look like an idiot, just call it out. Be like "wow, I guess I'm really nervous, you must be super cute because this only happens when I'm around super cute girls. I'm nervous, what's your name?" Just roll with whatever happens and you'll be coolio.

It’s so hard to stop caring about what others think & being more confident in what I do/say. I always hold back when it comes to wanting to speak my mind or say what I really feel. Plus I don’t look good at all, so I’m constantly feeling like people r lookin at me callin me ugly even tho I kno they aren’t.
@tyffaneelavely8087 Жыл бұрын
your looks have nothing to do with your value. You thoughts & opinions matter no matter what. Also, be aware that society has programmed us to think what is beautiful. Beauty is whatever you find it in. Differences are what make us who we are. If we have a big nose, remember that you got that nose from your ancestors.Keep in mind that beauty standards change ALL the time. What is considered ugly right now, may be considered beautiful in a few years. Who cares though? Who cares what those people think about you? Does it really matter when you think about it? What is them thinking you're ugly really going to do? NOthing. You are as beautiful as you think you are. There are people who will see you for who you are, and will find you beautiful just the way you are. You ever seen someone with confidence that wouldn't typically be considered beautiful, but they are still admired, and seen as good looking? It's all in how you carry yourself. How you think about yourself. You walk around, knowing that all of your features are unique to you. Passed down from generation to generation of 2 families, each time. That's so many people and combinations that came together to form you. You are the only you, and that makes you special.
