I used to train like this as a teenager and it was some of the best times of my life, a quick shoulder pump before a night out to try and impress the girls...Loved it. I started going to commercial gyms and using machines for a lot of years until it dawned on me that I had it right in the beginning. This is how old school bodybuilders put muscle on, All free weights, proper training. Love it

Every shoulder workout should incorporate an overhead lift and the dumbbell press is probably the best, great video, 💪👍

Nice one mate, I lashed out on some of those hexagonal dumbells about 4 years ago when weights were cheaper, it was starting to do my head in taking plates off and on!

Good stuff mate. Weights are so expensive now. I don't really mind changing the plates to be honest, doesn't take long. And if I need to change weight more quickly like if I'm doing a drop set. I have 4 pairs of dumbbell bars so I can load them up before 👍🏻💪🏻

Impressive shoulder press 👍I do those and lateral raises, both excellent exercises. For the standing shoulder press I use a neutral grip rather than pronated grip which feels more natural. Any thoughts on that?

Awesome video sir. I do something similar when im too tired to go to the gym. I have two dumbbells just like yours with the rolling pins. Only have about 25 kgs for each tho for now. But i have two 36 kg dumbbells that i use for floor pressed and standing push press. Plus nothing beats working out outside in the fresh air!

It may be basic, as you said, but sometimes simple is best and nice to see strict form not momentum swings like some ego lifters in tinterweb! Good stuff Col, enjoying the vids!

Yes Robin the bar weight is included 4x5kg and 2x4kg plates on each 2kg dumbbell bar. Thanks mate 💪🏻

Jealous you can still do over head press, was my favourite lift at 71 and still competing unfortunately need to protect my shoulders so steer clear of over head lifting, comes to the point you need to sack certain exercises like it or not.

@@cols-muscle-power Nothing just bench press, have competition on 6th October only need 130kilo for British record under ipf 83 kilo shouldn’t be a problem. I do a full bodybuilding workout but when near competition on bench days just low reps.

Getting the dumbbells to the shoulder is harder than pressing them...why is that? I have the same issue and lift about the same as you.

Power clean them up to your shoulders instead of trying to muscle them up, bend in the legs, slam the heels and let the momentum carry them up.

I have quite a few of these iron plates with the spin lock collars, I like them but plate changing annoys the heck out of me and when they start to go loose after some reps once the rubber O rings get lost. Those rubber coated hex one's seem to be the go these days but they like to charge a pretty penny for them. The Iron ones do seem more alpha though, more manly and the cling noise they make are classic, the Hex one's seem a bit gay in comparison.

Doesn't really bother me changing the plates to be honest. If I ever need to change weights quickly like if I was doing a drop set, then I have a few other pairs of dumbbell bars. So I can load them up before I start. Like you say that clanging sound makes it worth it 😄. Cheers mate 💪🏻
