Hello Mrs. Karen, I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas 🎄 & I hope you both have a safe & warm New Year's! We sure did! 😊 We are looking forward to our New Year🎉! This past year has been good & terrible for me, but it could have been better health wise with myself. I'm wish you both great health, happiness, and prosperity ✨️ for the upcoming year! I'm being invited to my Dad's house for New Year's lunch. My stepMom will be cooking a lot of great stuff and some deserts. She's always cooking a family fest for the whole family. There's about 5 different families. Good thing she has a big farmhouse and a big yard. We just do a buffet style around the kitchen table and dining room table. We like to sit on the front porch together to eat. We all have such a great time, and nobody leaves hungry, and if they do, it's their own fault 😂 for not eating and going for 2nds. She even has togo boxes for us waiting. I believe we are having chicken fingers, mac & cheese, potato salad, Blkeye peas, greenbeans with (garlic,salt/pepper, pcs of ham, onions), homemade spicy ChowChow, collards greens, biscuits, sweet rolls, cornbread muffins & a few of her pie 🥧 creations. She jars & sells a lot of ChowChow, garden fresh veggies, salsa & fruits..I ❤ the jar tomatoes 🍅 for soup. One of my childhood memories I will always Cherish is my granny, making me a Jar of Garden canned tomato 🍅 and macaroni soup with salt & pepper. Sometimes, I would get lucky & she would make us a grilled cheese to go with it. So delicious 😋 I miss it sooo much! Well, I'm going to watch ur video now! Have a wonderful evening 😀 🤗 XOXO from SC!

I'm washing and cutting up my collards tonight. Food Lion has them on sale for 99 cents a bunch and they are really nice, so I'm fixing extra to go in the freezer. I've bought the frozen collards, but they shred them up to nothing and I don't care for them. Nothing beats the ones you make yourself from fresh. I'm not as picky about the black-eyed peas. I'm okay with the canned ones because we make Hoppin' John out of them so they have lots of good flavors in them.

I reckon they are what we call Spring Greens - they have the same shape, the lighter colour than most cabbage, and that thick stalk which needs removing.

Those greens look like the stuff we call Spring Greens in the UK - do you really boil them for hours? And they accuse Brits of overcooking veg…yet I just steam mine, and for ten mins max!
@KarenJonesFoodFamily5 сағат бұрын
If you don't cook them long enough, they will be very tough. But you cook only 10 minutes if that's what you want to do.

I'm confused... is this a new upload but an older video from 2023? New Year's Eve and New Year's Day haven't happened yet but the video says "Today is New Year's Day". The recipes looked Delicious 😋 but the Intro Comments threw me off about the age of the video... is it a repeat video maybe?
@KarenJonesFoodFamily2 күн бұрын
This us a repeat. I thought I wrote that at the beginning of the video. I'm sorry I confused it.
@pamelaklemp56152 күн бұрын
@KarenJonesFoodFamily No problem. Repeats are always a good refresher. I thought I'd ask just to be sure there wasn't a glitch or something. Nope, my feed didn't have any explanation comment about it being from last year but I enjoyed it and your dinner choices looked great.

Hi Ns Karen, just wondering if you guys moved? I haven't seen you in a while but I noticed that your kitchen set up looks different. 😊

Thanks for asking. This is a repost. We had the kitchen remodeled 4 years ago. I had hip replacement surgery, and it has slowed me down from new videos. ❤️
