Tactical Doodle and I go table top on this one. We'll talk about Dad's cool F100 Super Sabre as we kick it off. Then we talk about several, mostly-forgotten Glock long slides. We seek to remind you good guys how xlnt they are. All this was driven home to us after extended outings and ammo expenditures. They are accurate, reliable, and hit very hard in these calibers. One quirk is discussed.
Extended Envelope Engagements acronym (EEE) makes its first appearance in this 2 for 1 GRV. TD calls them "hard ballers!" We'll discuss their interesting POU, SAWC, firepower, and the like. We'll again make the case, especially with a brace, how these are really pistol caliber carbines. Highly recommended...if you can find them.

@George Washington listen buddy I get your not happy with Biden and to be perfectly honest I was not happy with either of them but the reason Biden won was not a rigged election it was that we didn't get enough voter turnout even with all the new people registering. If every single American had voted Trump would have won but a lot of Americans just don't give a shit about voting or don't believe in it. Also don't call me some fucking left wing communist just because I disagreed with you I'm not right or left wing I'm a libertarian centrist. Oh and by the way centrist does not mean I'm always in the middle of every debate like for example when it comes to the 2A I think a civilian should be able to own a fucking tank but as a example of when I agree with the left I am pro choice although you would probably call it "pro baby murder".

My first Glock was the G40 MOS in 10mm. Helluva handgun. Over the years, put Ghost Inc. Spring kits into it, a DPM recoil spring and op-rod, an Ameriglo Haven red dot, Trijicon suppressor night sights (co-witness with the red dot), and a TLR-10 light on it for the giggles. One of the best shooters I’ve ever shot and definitely my bedside gun. Great, very extensive review.

@dr1Voss48
@dr1Voss48 9 ай бұрын
@@Tank0911 I like the TLR-10 quite a bit. It has an adjustable laser that can be aligned with the optic and 1,000 lumens of light. I used it to identify a coyote a few months ago across one of my fields at a range of about 200 yards. It’s beefy in construction, fits well to the pistol, and is very bright with fresh batteries. Only gripes are that it gets a bit hot, drains batteries fairly quickly, and I had to have a custom kydex holster made to house the weapon with the light on it. If that doesn’t bother you, it’s a solid choice.

The only Glock long slide I am interested in is a Glock 40. Six inches of 10mm barrel that gives enough velocity to penetrate into the heart or brain of any wild animal that dare threaten my family out in the wilderness. I'd carry it as a backup to a .308 or 30.06 caliber rifle slung over my back.

Same. I've been CCW'ing my G34 Gen5 for years now. Many people know about the 34 length guns, but not many know about a 17L anymore sadly. I reckon why the 35 is forgotten is because people like the round count of 9, vs the lower round count, higher recoil, higher price, unavailability etc of .40.

Especially the Glock 35. I love that gun. It went from a target gun, to my home defense gun, and even hunting gun! You'd be surprised how well .40 S&W does against hogs. I have a wolf 9mm barrel and a 357 sig barrel for it as well, so also the most versatile long slide glock!

I'm of the opinion that 10mm really comes into its own in a full size Glock. You have very similar muzzle energy and velocity to a 357 Mag with the inherent advantages of an autoloader, 15 rounds, suppressable, all of that. Wonderful gun and caliber.

Only problem with the 10mm in general is the insane cost of ammo... and really all pistols kinda suck (even the hotter loads) so that means shot placement is everything. If shot placement is everything then 9mm is just as good but cheaper and you get more rounds. But damn if 10mm wasnt so expensive I'd buy one hahaha just sucks to reload so semi autos due to having to hunt down the brass

I have hunted with my G31 and taken big game with it. It's amazing that out around 100yards some of the load data has the 357sig catching or surpassing the 10mm on energy. I shoot both 357sig and 40 cal by just a barrel change, same magazines. Think you can do 45acp/10mm on the bigger platform? Long slide Glocks are sweet. Almost got one..got a 480 Ruger instead.

Have a gen 3 g29 for ccw and I love that gun what I love about the 10mm is the scale in ammo I can go from shooting punt 40 cal ammo to full on Buffalo bore all on the same platform. 10mm for the hoods and the woods if you know what to buy

I have a law enforcement friend that is an instructor for the state of Georgia. We were in Smyrna, GA a few years ago and he bought a Glock 35, which is a long-slide .40. It shoots like a dream and he loves it.

The s&w model 59 was a super groundbreaking gun. 15 plus one and light alloy. It was the first of the wondernines. The HK p7 and usp were also just amazing and new at the time. The 1911 was 7 plus one or 8 plus one and twice as heavy. The sig 226 and 229 and berettta 92 were the proven law enforcement pistols . The glock then just out 17 C was my first glock and it was good and very different. The drop free vs non drop free mags was the chat. I bought the gock 20 and 21 next and thought i had found an excellent companion in both. A couple years ago I bought police trade in 22 and 23 models in gen 2. And later the gen 3 when they were 270 dollars.

I own every Glock 9mm in Generation 4 and my favorite two are the Glock 34 and the Glock 17L… And yes, I am a Glock Fan Boy… You can dig a hole in the ground, put a Glock in it, cover up the hole and wait five years… Pull the Glock out, wash it off in river water, put in a magazine and not have a malfunction… The Glock 17L has tripled in value since I purchased it…

The long slides... I use to be a big fan early on when I didn't have all the information I have now, but the longer barrels don't mean much with modern hollow points and you do add weight with the longer slides/barrels. The only advantage is the sight radius while the adj. rear, larger slide and mag releases, and lighter trigger are all things you can do after you buy a non-long slide Glock. About the only Glock long slides I think are worth it now are the 40 and 41 and that's because 10mm gains a lot of velocity and .45 is better with a 5 inch or longer barrel than a 4 inch or shorter. That said, if I had to choose a 3 or 4 inch barrel between 10 and .45, I'd take the .45.

So Glock is offering nearly “useless” models? A 34 is much easier to shoot than a 19, IMHO. But I’m not gonna EDC a 34.
@DickTickles
@DickTickles 2 жыл бұрын
@@JeepCherokeeful With the red dot sights the gains of a longer sight radius can be had with a shorter barrel. I'd say with 9mm and .40 the gains of a long slide are minimal, but 10 and .45 they're worth the extra size and weight.

If I only had one handgun to own and had to go thru SHTF situation I would pick a Glock 19 or 17. I am not a Glock fan, but carry one everyday because they just work and are reliable as hell. Easy to maintain and simple to strip and clean.

Agreed on .40. Great caliber for civilian and police, along with .357Sig. Reason: you might need very high cap for GTW but not for typical EDC, and the fewer rounds are more potent with inconsistent media like a human thorax and better at barrier penetration. The 13-15 +1 rounds of 40 or .357Sig is more than the capacity you’ll need for defensive carry, and you’re arguably in a better situation in ammo droughts. Need more ammo than that? Spare mag.

You get G-40 power simply by dropping a G-40 barrel in your G-20. One thing is certain: "The 10mm is making a huge comeback." I really like the fact that the G-20 & G-40 will also shoot 40 S&W cartridges with no problems.

Way late to the party here, but I got my hands on a Glock 40 a few months ago. As you said, it is a surprisingly soft shooter, especially since the polymer frame spreads out the "shock" into your palm more than my steel D10. I do actually conceal carry it sometimes, and under an unbuttoned sports coat, it's no problem in an OWB holster. With a red dot, it makes putting 10mm holes way too easy. I still don't like Glocks much overall, but as far as it goes, it is one awesome piece.

Part of the reason you probably think your red dot is unreliable is because you’re running Burris. Buy trijicon, holosun, aimpoint. Also if you use your iron sights to find your dot, you might as well be using irons. If your grip/presentation is correct, the dot will be there everytime

That Hornady Critical Duty looked like a good just light enough defense round in 10mm. After first couple of rounds you can load something else if you're expecting trouble. The 40 Critical Duty doesn't cycle in my M&P so make sure it runs before you rely on it.

I had a 6 inch long slide glock 22 called I think the 24. You know I used it for action pistol shooting. Slower between targets and my scores were not much different than with my 23. The longer sight radius was not worth it. Slower draw too.

You guys didn't mention the grand-daddy Glock long slide ------- G17L they're very rare. I've only ever seen two in the flesh since their introduction in 1980's. I bought and built up a "Spec-Ops" G34 with a G26 sidekick. I think a 5" long slide is the proper for a non concealed service pistol.

An interesting comment from Patreon from Patrick B. "Oh boy, I love me some long slide. I have a 34 that I just love to shoot. One awesome feature of shooting the 10MM, is that you can actually shoot 40 s&w through it perfectly safely, it cycle's, no need to swap out barrels or magazines and it just runs along and is a whole lot cheaper to shoot and train with. Also, couldn't agree more about how cheap you can pick up the glock 22 or glock 23 . I've gotten some smoking and deals on gunbroker, everyone wants the 9 mm. And with a simple drop in barrel from lone Wolf, you can shoot 9 mm out of your 40 just that easy. Then you have the beauty of being able to shoot both types of ammo, with one pistol. So when everything dries up on the shelves hopefully you'll slap a little bit of 1 or the other."
