I generally spend less on a factory rifle, and they are covered by warranty which is nice. 2 3d The Nutnfancy Project Indeed they are. Probly the best way to go, esp. the AR10. So many good ones out there. 1 3d Christopher Scott Timely! I’m just about to start on a couple of builds, I found your comments useful... thanks for the great, as usual, content. 3d The Nutnfancy Project Great to hear from you CS and you bet 3d Joshua Wilson Fun review, thank you gentlemen. I am trying to avoid the news right now (my BP needs a break), and this added some much needed mirth. 1 3d The Nutnfancy Project Yeah I'm not watching the news anymore at all and have not been for months. I'll watch a Salty Cracker episode here and there. It's all propaganda in the MSM so I checked out a long time ago. 2 3d Ben Wagner I made the mistake of putting a heavy fluted 18” Ballistic Advantage barrel on my AR10 build. It turned the gun into a boat anchor. I swapped it for a Faxon Big Gunner lightweight barrel and it totally transformed the feel of the gun. 3d The Nutnfancy Project Now you're talking. That's a much better choice. 3d Ben Wagner That pattern is AR10. The DPMS pattern has a radiused rear interface (like extended AR15), whereas AR10 has the straight diagonal line from the rear takedown pin. 3d The Nutnfancy Project Gotcha 3d steve garrett holy shat that scope is mounted way way too darn forward. usually the scope bell lines up at the back of the castle nut, on almost all my builds. unless the scope has some crazy eye relief differences. 3d Schmuckatelli Loved the rail session on the build. It was very educational. Also looking forward to "Red Pilling Normies, Part 2" on UGETube. I keep checking over there to see if it's posted yet. 1 3d Schmuckatelli Thanks for posting it! You da man!!! Hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of sharing the link to the video to several large groups on Gab. Hope to see the views start jumping soon. 2d Lon N Thanks for reminding me the old FAL isn't the heaviest 7.62 NATO capable rifle possible. ;-p Luv it,.. thanks guys 1 3d Brett B Thanks for the laughs! Great review! 3d Quentin moore So excited to watch this. 3d Jonathan-James Enjoyed the AR10 review. Thanks Nutn and TD. After hearing the parts price tags, my purchase regrets seem so minuscule. And I got the gen2 PA10 just a before the Gen3 was released. The parts and lower to build the complete rifle was only 550. Lucky timing. 3d Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest Heavy as hell, I couldn't carry it. Even for a SAPR way too heavy for me. Like I've said previously. If I need to reach out I have a 6.5 Grendel upper (PSA hah) that can do that (actually better) and it was MUCH MUCH cheaper. Free for you to test anytime Nutn :D 1 3d Lon N 6.5 Grendel rocks. 1 3d David I have a POF ar di in 224 Valkyrie I could send to y’all for review. As far as I understand they don’t make them anymore. 3d SMack78 Pretty sure thats a Fortis Manufacturing rail. 3d Sheepdog Nutn: "When was the last time we saw a clip with this much personality?..... I would say probably NEVER". Exactly what I was thinking when Nutn said it. 1 3d Gabriel Jesse Robert Salazer Wow exactly what I asked for. Thanks nutn. 3d Maplebrew Finally we see some Nutm potty mouth: “Are you F’n shutting me 26 ounces” 1 3d The Nutnfancy Project Hey I'm working on it, sorry for my cussin', it ain't good. 1d Galen C Cook The POU was actually to confound the Nutnfancy clan, and create a rant that would restore order to the galaxy, give peace to patreon subscribers through quality content generation.... and ye refocus us all in our own systems development....Thus fulfilling the prophecy of "The One," who would bring balance to the 2 kinds of cool . 2 2d The Nutnfancy Project ".Thus fulfilling the prophecy of "The One," who would bringing balance to the 2 kinds of cool ." OMGosh, so funny! Thanks for the good laugh. He achieved his goal then. 1d Michael Coffel I guess my PSA PS-10 picked up September 2019 for $900 out the door and an older Nikon 4x12 50mm I got for $100 can out shoot that boat anchor even if its only in 308.. Only changes I made were removing the sight/gas block combo for a non-adjustable gas block and put on a 15" Mlock Midwest rail. Some Ruger flip-ups and a dozen Magpul 20 round mags are about the only other things I've gotten for it. Maybe $1400 total investment for a rifle that can really out shoot me is not too bad. Now I wish I had bought two... 3 2d The Nutnfancy Project Bought two indeed. That's exactly how you do it: high value 1st Cool shooter that works. I hope it serves you well in these crazy times. Better yet I hop you never need it. 1 1d Craig Damn it! It’s just better when doodle is on the show. 2 2d Rogue Weasely I heavily agree! 2d Load reply Jeffrey Brener (ARMORED CAR) 2d Zachary Plocek After some research this barrel is $940 MSRP why not just get an HK MR762? 2d The Nutnfancy Project Holy cow, more $$ than we'd thought. Insane amount of waster on this build. The MR762 is a great gun, very accurate, very reliable. 1d Kyle Soucy I think that rail is Fortis and the mag release is Odin Works. I’m really surprised that barrel didn’t shoot better! 2d Chris carr I was hoping to hear about 6mm arc being the “game changer” 😂😂😂. Jk waiting for that review and even if it is a coupe years. I’m over being on top of the latest fashion tactical kardashian elitists. 2d Cheesewell I want a FNH FNAR, 20 inch. Probably not the best option, but I feel like it'll make me happy. 1d The Nutnfancy Project Happiness in key 1 1d ThisWe'llDefend How about a 5.9 lb AR 10 build? No need to build one because POF has already, The POF Rogue. TNP should review one. It would make a great contrast to this boat anchor. 1 1d The Nutnfancy Project Been trying to get a Rogue for a long time, no luck. If you get one lmk! 1 1d Load reply michael kotarba Thank you guys for the great content 1d Phake A'Count So, it's a really expensive long range bench-rest gun with an inexplicable light weight barrel. 1 1d CDK I think the Christensen barrels like that are only rated to around 800 - 1200 rounds because the stainless barrel is so thin. 3h Stephen R Love this shit 1 42min The Nutnfancy Project Us too! For one, the rail is a fortis rail, the fact you said you don't know who proof research is, is really funny, they are arguably one of the most well know precision barrel makers. The CF barrel while light weight has more advantages than just being light, greater heat dissipation, extremely accurate, greater barrel harmonics/less barrel whip. Not every build is meant to be a a super light weight gun. You can not compare a aero precision mount to a Larue mount come on. Zev has started making Mega receivers again. Anti walk pins are a gimmick, trigger pins were designed to rotate in the gun. You should check out Chad from school of the America rifle (one of if not the foremost experts on all things AR15 and is the go to person in the industry). First thing that needs to be done is take the barrel off and put a better rail on there and re-torque to specs, look at the twist rate of the barrel and rounds being used, that proof will shoot 1/2 to 1/4 moa all day long.

After building my 20" ar10 I don't think I'd do it again. I learned a lot.

I went with Aero Precision for my upper and lower. Great value for solid pieces of gear, saved the bulk of my budget for the important stuff like the BCG, barrel, and trigger. Added a 18" JP Supermatch barrel with their thermal dissipater, JP FMOS BCG, JP adjustable gas block, and JP buffer tube with their silent capture buffer. I went with a Geissele SSA-E for the trigger and threw on an Atlas BT46 bipod attached to a Midwest Industries 15" handguard.

That's a Proof Research barrel they are the most used barrel of the PRS series (more than Bartlein) for a reason. If it's not shooting 1/2 moa it's either because you suck, your ammo sucks, or as a used gun it was shot out when you got it. It looks like a build that was put together for the gas gun division in PRS so I'm not sure how the build is "confused" buy your standards simply because it appears to built for something for something you're not in touch with. The reason why you'd go with a UBR stock is because it's the only collapsible stock that uses a rifle length buffer system and compared to a carbine buffer system a rifle length buffer lowers felt recoil and allows faster follow up shots when shooting on the clock in competition.

There are SO many assumptions made about this rifle that the whole thing is RIDICULOUS. The fact that two guys who don’t know who Proof Research is and that their barrels are bought for their incredible accuracy, ability to dissipate heat when shooting 10-shot strings in PRS, NRL, etc competition. This whole video is friggin ridiculous and done by two guys who are so pigeon-holed into their own AR-related interests that they don’t understand many other segments of the shooting/competitive world. It’s painful to listen to. I don’t the guy that built this rifle and I’m NOT saying it’s a perfect build but it’s a reasonable attempt for any guy that wanted to shoot some type of long range competitive shooting that require multiple shots within a short period of time. Heavier rifles will move less with and allow you to get your next shot off quicker. The brake/compensator on there is another clue that he was looking for absolute minimal muzzle jump. Before anyone says, “well why use a CF barrel?”... because many competitions have maximum weight limits. SO, besides the accuracy/extreme quality of Proof barrels and their ability to keep the stainless barrel cool and limit heat-related group spread they can help you build a rifle that shoots like a heavier weight barrel but still ‘make weight.’ I could go on an on but these 2 guys don’t know enough to be talking about this rifle or much else, aside from their specific wheelhouse. I’ll agree when they said, “we’re just a couple of hacks.’ THAT comment is spot-on.

I prefer and shoot Bartlein but these guys showed their ASS by not knowing Proof and by including them in the same as Christenson CF barrels. Why is it that the common reply to negative comments pointing out verifiable errors in content always get some fanboy all twisted up and saying, “go start your own channel?” Weak, my friend. IF you had real confidence in these guys, or any personal expertise in the genre of long range shooting/hunting/competing you’d be thanking me for the correction. The coloring on the underside of that Fw190-D is indeed to avoid friendly fire from AAA because that particular group's main mission was flying close cover over airfields while Me-262 jets took off and landed - Me-262s were particularly vulnerable at those times.

Another use case for the CF wrapped barrel is the fact that it cools faster. For the money, I would've wanted sub MOA performance as well.

@@TacticalDoodle I’m working on my engineering degree and I have to agree, the theory suggests it would act as an insulator. Slow to heat up, slow to cool down
@xenonram3 жыл бұрын
@@TacticalDoodle yeah, I don't believe they cool faster. They may be cooler to the touch, because you have the CF & epoxy insulating your hand from the metal. But they won't cool faster. They have significantly less metal, which means less thermal mass, so it may cool faster, if the heat can radiate out the bore side (the metal of the barrel that is exposed to the air). But you are right, wrapping a barrel in CF doesn't make it cool faster. The decrease in thermal mass is what will make it cool faster, if it does in fact cool faster. If the use an epoxy with a high thermal conductivity coefficient, and they increase the surface area of the barrel (CF barrels have a larger o.d.), they may get it to cool faster, but it isn't because it's wrapped in CF. It's because they decreased the amount of metal, used an epoxy with a high thermal conductivity, and increased the diameter (surface area). Wrapping a regular barrel with regular CF wouldn't make it cool faster.
@looseballs19663 жыл бұрын
@@xenonram YES in the study of thermo dynamics (not that I study that but have a close friend that does and he concurs )the carbon fiber is one heck of a good isullator and if anything would most deffinately cause a heat concentration around the metal insert of the barrel,,so rest assured that because the carbon fibre is insulating the inner barrel liner it would feel like it took longer to heat up and cool down quicker, but due to that insulating nature and the thiness of the metal barrel insert that that insert gets actually hotter quicker because of that very thiness,,but also it would cool quicker because of that same thiness,,,but overall you can very likely sbject that liner to overall higher temps that a normal metal barrel that has more metal mass to act as a heat sink (carbon fibre just doesn't have that same heat sink/thermo conductivity to suck that heat away from the barrel liner) hope that makes sense and helps understand how it works that way.

Something's up with the accuracy. Proof Research is known for having very precise barrels. Either it's a lemon or, more likely, the guy didn't install it correctly. Kinda looks like the guy looked at what was "cool" at the time (8 years ago) and had one of everything.

So, FWIW, my two cents: 1. Best Pistol grip: BCM Mod 3. 2. Best stock: BCM Mod 0. 3. Best rail system: AeroPrecision Enhanced upper + Enhanced handguard. (Midwest Industries if you use a standard upper.) 4. Best Pistol Brace: KAK Shockwave 2.0 There are other parts that are totally acceptable, but most parts people use are trash. I really like MFT Minimalist stock, for instance, but so many people go with MOE or SL by Magpul. Magpul MOE grips and all these other "chickenwing" or A2 angled grips are literally obsolete. (Get a Magpul K2 if you're a Magpul guy - no issue with the quality of the brand.) Just get lightweight parts that are from reputable companies. Heavy ARs are just not worth getting. Why do you need a boat anchor when you can get a brake? Just focus on lightweight and accurate.

That's a Fortis Hand guard... I have one on my 10 build, press the spring button in and pull down on the whale mouth looking thingy and it unlatches from the barrel nut. Then you can pull the hand guard off freely and put back on reversing the operation. Never found out why it was useful!?!? Wouldn't trust front iron sights or rail mounted lasers to maintain zero on it, I fell for the gimmicky nature of it and through use found it to be, well, useless other than free floated barrel. But mine is M-Lok and is very light. My whole build is 8.9 lbs, not light but not an anchor either that's with Leupold 3-9x50, and is sub moa with a JP 16" heavy barrel. Your mileage may vary, but I've harvested 3 deer with it so far and it is reliable as any ar15 I've owned (w/agb) and a joy, for me, to shoot. Range neighbors may disagree as I run a Surefire socom break on the 16" barrel. Deer didn't seem to complain though! I have often toyed with the idea of changing the hand guard out but they are so expensive, not sure what brand to go with, and I really don't want to add any more weight to it. I would like something more functional for on and off accessories like lasers/lights, bi-pods, etc.

25:10 I have seen elsewhere that the key to accurate shooting is having the scope bubble leveled. In which case, the bubble would be on the scope and not the pic rail of the gun. That being said, for me, if the rifle is not level with the scope, you can get drift because of the crossing of pee streams between scope and muzzle. That is, gravity acts always and you will always suffer the same gravity drop. What is different is your scope height and that brings in the parallax drift. So, I would rather have rifle and scope leveled the same.

I then put on an Aero precision 20 inch upper with a large muzzle brake. AP barrel weighs over 3 pounds so the weight actually increased but it was soft shooting. Next barrel was a Faxon 20 inch pencil with a smaller lighter muzzle brake. This was much lighter, 1.5 pounds, but only 2+ MOA with match ammo. Would be good for an iron sighted battle rifle but not a SAPR. Finally I went with a Criterion mid weight chrome lined 20 inch barrel with 1:11 twist. BINGO ! 1 MOA with match ammo and 2 MOA with NATO spec M80 ball ammo. With a Primary Arms .308 DMR scope its now the SAPR I wanted.
