The behavior of the 3 friends after the crime (moving to Florida, changing looks), leads me to believe they know a lot more than they claim. Maybe one of them will come clean one day, that is my hope for Lauren.

The reason for moving her body into the water would be so a rape kit would likely not produce results, if one had been done. She was young and inexperienced, and unfortunately did not live long enough to develop better judgement to keep herself safe.

_"Many people use alcohol to escape reality and have some fun. The problem is they don't really escape reality. They hide reality from themselves. They engage in a pain-free fantasy while actually existing in a dangerous world, which is now even more dangerous because they've impaired reality, including gravity, which continues whether or not someone is intoxicated."_ - Dr. Grande (2023) I'm completely agreeing with your wonderful analysis, and please tell your wife how lovely her cute Christmas trees are❣️✨️😍✨️❤️

I remember this case! It was so sad. She was somewhat cautious of the group she was with and told her mom she wanted to back out going because she had a bad feeling about it. Their "campsite" was way up on the edge of a cliff, like some ridiculous height of 75 feet up above the lake. There were thoughts that the single guy had maybe come on to her during the night and scared her and she feel off the cliff. We likely will never really know the truth of the death of this beautiful young soul. RIP Lauren 😥 One sad lesson here is that ALCOHOL should never be mixed with any body of water whether it's a lake, pond, quarry or the ocean. Ever.

Moral of the story: When things get sketchy enough that you find yourself speaking about the apparent sketchiness out loud, then listen to your own warning and dip - without worrying about what the others with you will think of you. Its sad that she felt strongly enough about the red flags that she even went so far as to verbalize it, yet went along anyways. She even tried a little to look for an alternative with the friend, but picked the wrong friend. Imagine how god awful that friend who told her there was no room feels. In hindsight it seems she had the right instincts, just didn't quite trust in them. Goes to show, having friends isn't a virtue in itself. The quality of said friends matters most. Don't be scared to have some standards. This girl had a good quantity of friends, but not such a good quality, at least in regards to the ones involved in this tale. Even if it turns out she wandered off in the night, it might have been due to some creepiness or just the intolerable nature of their camping setup, probably felt like a social ambush. Surprise, you are gonna sleep intimately close w/this guy you barely know out in the middle of nowhere, good night! Could have been murder. Could have been an accident they were somehow involved in so felt a need to cover up the details not realizing they were making it look even worse. Even just depraved indifference perhaps. But I can see why no one was prosecuted, how ya gonna win a case with so little evidence? Sounds like the police themselves are partly at fault for the lack of evidence though. Maybe some day more evidence will come to light. We had a case out here where the culprit was caught and prosecuted 20 years later, a dude who had been a cop at the time of the murder. But his partner at the time is still free in spite of being suspected as well, but the new evidence only implicated the one who was recently prosecuted, and not the other, so one is still free while the other is not. No statute of limitations on murder, so stuff can still happen down the road. In the case I just mentioned the ex wife of the cop who was prosecuted just happened to find some evidence left behind in a closet one day when she was cleaning it out, implicating her ex husband, decades after the incident. So ya never know.

Unprovable because police didnt investigate properly, already deciding it was an accident by a drunk kid. They let critical info be lost forever. EVERY death, esp if it wasnt very obviously à natural death (from natural causes- and an accident is NOT natural), invesgators are not supposed to make assumptions and approach every death as suspicious, to preserve evidence just in case it turns out to be foul play. And officials are supposed consider EVERY possibility, and not stop or make a conclusion until all the facts are gathered and examined, and critical thinking and reason is used to come to a conclusion based on all the facts. Its quite disgusting how this was handled and investigated. Its actually, even with the lost evidence and lost time, has been confidently proven an accidental fall from her campsite, theres no physical way for her body to end up where she was found. That alone means, at the very least, someone moved her body from where she most likely died. And there is more PI's found than this. But this, atleast, LE should have figured out early on in the investigation. A very obvious thing for them would be seeing if her falling at her campsite, if her body could end up in the cove. Finding this out while interrogating her asshole friends and everyone else who saw of spoke to her from her family, others at the event who spoke and/or saw her, the family of her "friends ", etc to find out who the main parties in this case are. Even if she was drunk, doesnt mean she is not worth finding out what actually happened. LE is NEVER supposed approach any death as an accident. They are actually, supposed to approach every death as suspicious so they dont ruin or miss evidence in case the death did involve a crime. This girl deserved better. Her family deserved better.

This case has stuck in my mind for a long time. I remember how strange the 3 remaining “friends “ acted according to the police. I remember one officer saying as they took the 3 by boat to be interviewed one of the men was staring at the officers gun. When he ask what was going through the guys mind the guy answered, “ I’m trying to figure out how I can get that gun away from you and get off this boat!” Ugh , what ?😮 It was those kinds of actions and there were a lot of them that made the 3 look guilty. My heart goes out to Lauren family. She deserved a much better investigation. It’s heartbreaking.

Huge speculation here but maybe she did fall, got seriously hurt and the friends got paranoid because maybe they did more than drink so they moved the body. It is a reminder that by avoiding alcohol, I am avoiding so many dangerous situations that could cost money or lives.

I'm having troubling imagining how any rational human being could see a woman missing but her SHOES are still there and they casually decide, "oh she must have just gone for a walk". I don't know many people who would deliberately go barefoot on such a rugged place as this, a place that abounded in rocks. I find it hard to believe that she even deliberately left her cell phone behind but I find it impossible to believe that in the rocky place they were camping, she would choose to leave behind her shoes! I don't believe these young people's story and how they skated free amazes me.

@@elliebellie7816 absolutely, these were poorly supervised, upper middle class kids. Lots of disposable income but not much attention from responsible adults. Lake incidents are common in that area, almost all of which involve alcohol use. There isn’t much to do in Tennessee for non-drinkers. Phargoh, I’m not sure. @@jamesbowman6925 No idea but law enforcement is incentivized not to report the truth in the case of a serious crime because they want people to keep attending the lake event and spending money. Nothing was made of the fact Lauren initially suffered a head injury due to bumping her head on a rock after jumping into water. I'm not a doctor, but I understand this kind of trauma to the head can lead to slow bleeding on the brain, and can manifest many hours after the injury. If this is the case Lauren may have become confused in the night or suffered some loss of consciousness that led to her disappearance and death. With the added problem of alcohol, her outlook was never good.

I have several friends that are E.R doctors. The stories that they have shared over the years about the deaths and injuries that occur at these drunken festivals are frightening. One specific incident that I'll never forget was about a young lady that slammed the hatchback of her suv shattering the glass. She was so heavily intoxicated that her natural instinct to close her eyes didn't even kick in. She was blinded. Though spared her life, unlike the subject of this video. Thank you again Dr. Grande for reminding us of how dangerous these outings can be 🙏

@@googleslocik first of all, ppl act different in all types of scenarios. You've let the paranoia and cynicism of crime shows and movies affect your everyday reasoning. Every reaction to a circumstance isn't necessarily a smoking gun. You don't know, I don't know, bcuz we weren't there. Do you really presume that your armchair sleuthing has solved that which the law and its criminal sciences have not. You're a witch hunter. The only one who knows is dead and she was obviously too wasted to fully know. At the very End the Truth will be unveiled and the guilty will be judged. Maybe they thought she was dead but wasnt yet so they decided to put the body in the water and by the time they got her there she was dead. This would explain how her body got to the water, along with the injuries that she sustained.

Thank you for another wonderful review, Dr. Grande! How beautiful this young girl was... And how abruptly and horribly her blossoming and promising life was suddenly ended. What also struck me in this case is this cruel irony of fate: Ms. Agee had been studying criminal science and became a prey to the circumstances which may also have been of criminal nature. Probably, the police could have conducted a more thorough investigation of this case, but, alas, nothing will ever bring the lovely and beautiful Ms. Agee back to life. RIP.
