Glad to see you trying this. I actually think this achievement is slightly harder on the frozen planet than the radioactive planet. And no you weren't just blessed to get the free hatch, Oni always puts a diggable hatch somewhere in your starting biom close to the pod on every map. When I did this run I left the care packages on, but I didn't allow myself to take anything useful from the pod until carnivore and super sustainable were done. After you can get past those any care packages don't really make the game easier, just make it easier to get critters that have died off if you need them again.

@@EchoRidgeGaming Then again, it does make the "Critter Whisperer" more exciting when you gotta try to keep them alive :D I remember playing on a (classic-style, big map) Rime with Frozen Core, Glaciers, biome-modificaiton to drop temps more etc. and accidentally finding some buried slickster. Then mad-rushing to get some livable habitat for it going before the poor died :d

Just thinking out loud, but is there a truly difficult single player game once you know it well ? Maybe somthing like ninja gaiden, where reflexes matter. ONI is a game about knowledge after all, the difficulty lies in lacking knowledge

​@@Payneonline the difficulty, if desired, is in setting arbitrary restrictions/challenges. play with 100 dupes, speedruns, nuzlockes, playing mario blindfolded, etc. additional challenge conditions crop up when the people that master the base-game difficulty still want to play and be challenged. there's also mods to add difficulty. lower resources, custom maps, and lots of other ways to make the game harder through mods.

These kinds of series blow my mind. I play ONI a couple times a year, and no matter how careful I attempt to be, or how many guides and tutorials I try to watch/read to gain information on surviving, I have never made it very far. I am just bad at these kinds of games, but I love them so much I can't help but keep trying. Maybe someday I'll actually tame a volcano, or make it to space, but for now I just experience it vicariously through stuff like this.

It just takes practice I have literally been here since alpha, playing for years, and it still took me 200 hours just to get a colony to a point where i could start building rockets .....And then i started procrastinating and 2800 cycles later i still have never launched a rocket. Not even on other saves, and im up to 500 hours now. Bought the DLC not long ago, time for a second run, but in the DLC this time, and i will not stop until i launch a rocket now!

You can use the brine (-10C) from the cool salty slush geyser and the salt water (95C) from the salt water geyser to cool and heat up each other. Also Both can go to the same desalinator

he pretty much needs to mix the coold and hot together, because feeding that cold salt water to a desalinator will result in lots of cracked pipes otherwise.

I always toss my early refinery on a cool slush salt or otherwise. Then convert it to water. Water comes out at a good temp

Re: oxygen, an alternative is to setup one or more floors of 1 tile deep polluted water & spam deodorizers above. The advantage long term is more ceramic, the disadvantage is needing to source a supply of sand now.

Awesome! I have been waiting for this one!! Just be careful about visiting other planetoids because of Super Sustainable. I found a coal generator on one and when the dupes found it, it counted as them building it!

This happened to me but I never even explored the asteroid. Suddenly started getting a flooded warning for a planetoid I'd never visited or even found on the star map yet. Clicked on the alert just to get thrown to a battery connected to a coal gen :P

I've yet to make any progress into space playing the default survival mode. I really like watching the early/mid game developments because it's so much easier to wrap your head around that compared to people showing off their 1000+ cycle bases. Anyways oxygen not included is such an amazing game despite me being terrible at it I really enjoy playing it.

5:55 There's one more failable achievement after those three, added by Spaced Out! You have to harvest enriched uranium from a Beeta hive without being stung. Fortunately, compared with the others being massive roadblocks in base design, this one is far easier. I know how I like to tackle that challenge, but will be interested in what you do.

One of my favorite things to do on the radioactive ocean is to set up the pip-planted beeta hive/Saturn Critter Trap farm for nearly infinite hydrogen. Just gotta make sure no one opens the door and the area doesn't get too warm.

Having to deal with the two food achievements at the same time is an absolute nightmare for Achievement runs. For the first 30-40 cycles, your basically banned from Farming while also needing to critter ranch for food later.

I'm extremely excited about this playthrough because I'm doing an extremely similar one right now myself. A little tip if I may is that you will want to block that salt water geyser as soon as possible so you don't drown the wild planted waterweeds. The 4000kcals you get from them every once in a while has literally kept some of my colonists from starving to death when I couldn't produce enough mushbars fast enough... and with these settings you can almost never produce them fast enough. Also why not put the electrolyser setup down by the batteries so you can use the chill from the radioactive biome?

I guess i have to start over agin... i failed the carnivore 3 times in a row now. i have to rewatch what you exycly did. ^^ i must start my oxigen generation with water way way later. and i should switch 1 of my dopes to an ranger oookkkkk. I am not an Achievement hunter, but the Achievements in this game a realy fun. my perfectionism always shoots me in my knee. i have 2178,3 hours in this game. but never have been into space even once. i hope with your series helps me. once i reached carnivore and "day" 100 i can hopefully start to play the real game.

Honestly I found that locovore and carnivore went pretty well together as ranching does not affect the achievement, but you still get the calories from eating the "farmed" meat.

I find Job Suitability is really tough with dupes on many planetoids. Try to get that completed immediately after you get exosuit forge and working exosuits or you’re going to have to micromanage across worlds!

Taking a shower counts as a task for this achievement. So once you get there, just build showers in the exosuit area and make sure the dupes shower everyday. That's the easiest way to get that achievement.

3:20 if you start with a rancher just roll till you get a skilled one it will come with ranching 1....if you do that and rush to ranching (you want to do that) you can get ranches up on day 9-11....2 skill points takes longer then that

Haven't seen all the episodes yet, bur just wanted to share a tip/potential abuse of mechanics when it comes to undiscovered geysers/vents: They have an examination errand on them by default with priority 5; if you put it into yellow alert and hover over the yellow alert notification at the top left corner, it actually says what the source is. I started using it since I have to restart so many times I just motivated it as "I eould probably have found out what it was and then have to reload anyway" Do what you want with this info (anyone reading this) :)

You can dig just the left or right lower single tile and that's enough to identify the geyser type (without allowing it to flow).

Sounds like Pip planting could be really useful. You can use the ghost of ceiling molding to deny any planting on a cell until your ready, then just cancel the build. No dupes required!

Just a thought, you could perhaps place an electrolyzer at the bottom? It will heat up the oxyferns a bit, and the cold hydrogen rising up will somewhat counteract the heat from the geyser. Just a temporary setup, of course.
