I am an older sister who doesn't read well so having the scriptures read to me and explained to me by a master scholar such as you is amazing. . I am grateful that you do these podcasts and spend so much time on each CFM lesson. I'm sure that these are more inclusive and detailed than in your scheduled classes as you don't have time restraints. I listen to you from theme to theme each time. Because I am able to learn from you, I can participate in SS classes on Sundays, I LOVE THIS! I appreciate that you don't talk over our heads like so many with your level of education do Please except my gracious thanks for including this channel in your busy schedule each week for us who glean you.

The light from the word of the Lord illuminates the heart….the center of all our senses of truth and understanding…we are so blessed to be part of this Unshaken classroom. Now, a much more expansive student body than our teacher had originally intended 😇❤️

Hey Bro Jared, My dad had an experience with speaking in tongues many years ago. He was at work and a migrant from Italia and his boss were struggling to communicate with each other. My dad listened for a bit and then opened his mouth to assist his boss in getting the message across. The message was delivered. Dad and the Italian gentlemen understood each other perfectly and the boss was astounded that my dad could speak Italian. Both dad and his co-worker knew that they had not communicated in Italian yet the message was delivered in a language that they both understood. Very very real and so amazing.

Charity. Moroni 7:48. Charity is a spiritual gift. Obtained by praying with all the energy of heart. I used to think that I could learn it or practice it enough. It’s impossible to gain it that way. I was desperate to help a difficult teenager who was almost impossible to reach or love. I took that promise to heart and prayed with all the energy of my heart and received the gift of charity and was able to truly love her. From then on we were able to make progress. I have rarely if ever heard that from the pulpit. I learned the lesson from my sister. She also taught me that Charity never faileth. Everything we had tried had failed. Charity succeeded.

We had a missionary from one of the Polynesian Islands pray in his own tongue a few weeks ago for closing prayer in sacrament meeting. I didn't understand a word, but the spirit was so strong. We could feel this young missionary's love for the Lord and the congregation. It was truly Edifying.

I am 75 years old so being of ancient of days I usually do not get bored with your great lessons, only sometimes when you are beating a dead horse into a bloody pulp, I love studying the gospel with you and have been with you from the beginning. For your edification the whistle that Von Trapp was blowing is actually called a Boatswain Pipe and it was used in the days of sail to get the attention of the sailors. The different sounds told them what needed to be done. There are many different sounds that are made with it and the tongue is used in some of them. It is still used today on ships over the loud speakers to get the attention of the crew and then the anouncement is made. I was a Boatswain Mate in the Vietman Era and blew it many times. They are also made of sterling silver and have to be tuned by the boatswain mate after purchasing one. Again I love your lessons and enjoy the time we spend together. Please thank your family for the time you spend away from them.

I’m a Mormon. We should believe the Scriptures, not man. And the Scriptures testify the Mormon Church is the only true Church of Jesus Christ on Earth. But if something is taught that can't be verified by Scripture, think twice about believing it. I understand why so many people are leaving the church. Many false doctrines exist causing countless KZbin videos mocking Mormonism. False doctrines like grandpa gods, (God the Father has a father), Mormons becoming gods of their own planets, Adam helped create the earth, Christ and Satan are brothers, God the Father has rarely spoken in Scripture, the African Americans were bad in the pre-existence; all of which no Scripture verifies. And each Sunday the Sacrament is tainted because only Elders and Priests can administer but the Deacons prepare/administer, and the Teachers pass/administer the Sacrament. (D&C 20:57) And the Lord says, He’s bound when we do what He says but if not there is no promise. (D&C 82:10) …that the scriptures might be fulfilled; for ye shall do according to that which is written. (D&C 24:14) And we wonder why there’s depression, mental illness and other unspeakable events among us? And many are leaving the church because if you don't fit the mold the church leaders sculpture you're not a part of the click. Mormons believe the church leaders over Scripture. The zealous believers have the church leaders in mind with everything thing they think say and feel testifying to impress others how much they believe the current church leaders are God-inspired. But the Scriptures reveal the church leaders are the problem with the entire Planet. For example, In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 we are informed of a person revealed as the son of perdition. This son of perdition sits in the temple of God making himself God or above all that is called God. Therefore, if the Mormon Church is the only true church, then the only person 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 could be talking about is the current Mormon prophet. For what other church is the one and only true Church with temples? And Joseph Smith taught a son of perdition can only be a church member holding all the rites of God's priesthood and using the priesthood against God as did Judas. Therefore, who else other than the current Mormon prophet could the apostle Paul be speaking of? It's as plain as the nose on a face. And even God in the Doctrine and Covenants tells us about the current church leaders and how displeased He is saying the end of this world will begin among them. (D&C 112:23-26) Joseph Smith taught the false doctrine of grandpa gods (God the Father has a father) not over the pulpit as a prophet but as a sermon at a funeral, which should not be taken as Scripture fulfilling God’s sayings to Paul, And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: (2 Thessalonians 2:11) That they might be damned who believed not the truth….(2Thessalonians 2:12) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. (Revelation 13:7) (D&C 112:23-26) And the current Mormon prophet is the son of perdition because he has all the saints believing God our Heavenly Father was created by a being greater than Himself but Scripture says there is no greater than our God. (Hebrews 6:13) Therefore, the son of perdition has all the saints breaking the first commandment God gave Moses, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Does it make sense to reasonable thinking that God would command we have no other gods before Him but really there are? Does He not want us to know this? Why is it a secret? There’s a reason He commanded to have no other gods before Him. Because by believing in false grandpa gods the saints believe our God is an infinitely lesser God putting Lucifer before God. And the moment we put a god before our God, our God becomes an infinitely lesser God. Not only that, our God also becomes a liar. He and the Scriptures says He is the greatest of all. He and the Scriptures says He is the Most High God. He and the Scriptures say He created all things. And in the Scriptures He says over and over there are no gods beside Him. (Isaiah 44:6) (Isaiah 44:8) (Isaiah 45:22) (Hebrews 6:13) Therefore, the saints believing there are gods before Him is the saints believing the son of perdition or the current Mormon prophet over the Scriptures and calling God and the Scriptures a lie. And Isaiah warns, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) The saints call the son of perdition (President Nelson) good and good (Jesus Christ) evil. Because President Nelson says Christ and His Father are liars and fosters the false doctrines. Peter, John, Paul, Alma, Nephi, Lehi, Jacob and all the canonized prophets would not allow false doctrines from the Adversary but President Nelson does. President Nelson says Christ did not create all things. (John 1:1-3) Matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed the scientists say therefore the son of perdition or President Nelson says the grandpa gods created these calling Christ and the Scriptures a lie. Well did Abinadi warn the wicked king Noah and his priests, Have ye taught this people that they should observe to do all these things for to keep these commandments? (Mosiah 13:25) I say unto you, Nay; for if ye had, the Lord would not have caused me to come forth and to prophesy evil concerning this people. (Mosiah 13:26) And what is the commandment Abinadi taught that the people do not obey? Thou shalt have no other God before me. (Mosiah 12:35) Know ye not that I speak the truth? Yea, ye know that I speak the truth; and you ought to tremble before God. (Mosiah 12:30) And it is a false doctrine to say God our Heavenly Father has rarely spoke to us in Scripture. (3 Nephi 27:26), (3 Nephi 24:1). (2 Nephi 31:20), (2 Nephi 31:11) (D&C 49:20) Beware of the doctrine of the scribes and Pharisees, which are today’ Church leaders. (Matthew 16:6-12)

Brother Jared…with regards to the rising generation….I hear so many concerned almost despairing…as if we know their answers for them. They are here now, these are their days of testing, as they are our days. Heavenly Father has sent them here now, because they are the valiant ones! As I am able to work in the Temple baptistery as an ordinance worker….I am amazed at the young brothers and sisters who come, on their own accord, on a Friday afternoon to do this sacred work! I agree that we need to do all we can to help show the way….but that has been the Plan from the beginning. In my view, they are blessed with faithful servants of the Lord, like you…who have dedicated their whole lives to teach the Fathers word…faithfully, and in the bonds of Charity. Jared…your faith has blessed my faith through the light of the Spirit. I have been so blessed….as will they, if they so choose. Will faith be found on the earth when the Lord comes again? Yes! For by faith we have the Lords promise that the victory shall be won! I am honored to have just been informed that my own granddaughter has just put her mission papers in, and is awaiting her call. This she has done on her own accord, choosing to honor Our Father in Heaven…having faith in the Lord….I couldn’t feel more assured than with faith as this. Keep up the good Work my brother…We all need teachers like you to help us grow up in His light😇👍❤️. David

This gift of tongues, glossolalia, is sometimes what I feel in the temple. When the mysteries of God are being spoken to my spirit in a way that can only be understood by the spirit, meant for just me. To edify me, meeting me where I am at. And I look around me and think the same kind of thing is happening to each of my brothers and sisters there with me, teaching and edifying them specific to them and where they are at in their understanding. I can't put those messages to me into words, and I'm sure others can relate, and can't relate what they just heard as well.

I think the combination of the Lockdowns in 2020 through 2021/'22 and increased chaotic darkness has created those who choose to continue in Jesus Christ, a Greater Thirst and Hunger for the Word of God! Also, reading books (for me at least) has been a struggle of many younger people. However, since many of the Rising Generations have been turning towards Audiobooks and Podcasts, I think This is why Older Generational People, such as yourself, have seen an increase to tune into platforms like yours. Thank you for your willingness to share your thoughts and testimony through this channel and through your podcast! I love how you ended this podcast with Charity…The most beautiful explanation I might have ever heard. Thank you. I’m wondering though, in 1 Corinthians 14, Evangelicals are really big on speaking in tongues in their prayers and services.. I’ve never been able to reconcile this. They spoke in tongues in our early church history, now we don’t. It’s part of our doctrine according to the Articles of Faith. I’ve been in these prayer circles when visiting with Evangelical friends. It seems odd to me that they don’t know what they’re saying. I would love to hear your take on this. Thank you for all you do. I feel charity in ALL your podcasts!

In Preach My Gospel it’s taught that spiritual gifts and Christ-like attributes are mercifully and benevolently GIVEN. We don’t “cultivate” spiritual gifts as in “make them happen.” God gives them and we have the honor to use our agency and effort to integrate them. I hadn’t considered my interdependent role in this detail but it changes things to understand the process.

Everything we have is given to us, including gifts of the spirit. However, that doesn’t mean that we don’t play a role in striving to obtain a gift that the Lord has wrapped for us. We still have to unwrap that gift.

The scripture about women being silent (not ruling) could be interpreted as making sure you aren’t preaching outside your authority, based on how much Paul is talking about order in this chapter. Women have lots of authority to receive revelation, and I’d say the General Relief Society Presidency is pretty high in authority, but that authority still seems to come just shy of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve. We don’t understand all the reasons why women aren’t called to such positions, and many have tried to come up with reasons, but all we know is this is the order that God has established for the time being.

Love you brother Jared....I see a proving of the contraries, I thought you might appreciate. We have the New Testament disciples keeping themselves in holy company for themselves and for the influence of their followers.... However.... we have Ammon's example in the Book of Mormon. He went with God into enemy territory, and the result was his good influence wearing off on King Lamoni and his kingdom. When the subject of letting our children go to parties comes up, I hope we can consider not depriving their friends of the light of Christ. When your father, the stake president, didn't allow you to go to a party, he may have been letting fear into his decisions. Depending on the party obviously, you could have sparked a beautiful awakening in your peers if he had allowed you to go. A contrary. But yes, the party goer has to have Christ's light shining strong to have that influence.

Wow I relate to that so much 😂I’ve been led back to aura personalities and learning about me and others and connecting more to God … and I’ve learned in my “layers”(light that comes from spirit-everyone has 4-7 of them:) and each one fits into a “family group” that has a dominate learning type:) but we’re a mix of a few :) ). I have one of the “body types” in my “mix” and ohhh my.. getting out of my head can be so hard! I definitely have a verrrrry active loud and busy brain?which is great but… it can tend to dominate other parts of me . I wonder if you have a “body family” or a “mental family type “:) or one of the other spiritual/energetic family ones that’s very analytical:) But if I keep working on it, I get the mind to quiet and I get to connecting back with my spirit and heart and I get what I need finally that God was trying to reach me with :)❤

@jeffrey That’s just rude!! And I agree with @jimolson, you need some humility. Oh and I am an Aussie LDS member. It’s curious you called Jim a “Mormon” since President Nelson has asked us not to use that term any more.

Chapter 14 definitely isn't as "doctrinally drenched" as chapter 15, so hopefully the second part of this week's lesson will make up for the first :) I was grateful, though, for the chance to wrestle with the ranking of spiritual gifts, the main criteria being how we might bless those around us. Hopefully we're all working toward that, and praying for the grace to get there! Thanks for listening!
