Excellent counsel on how to know we are worthy. Self-reflection with the Spirit is like a PPI for those of us who serve in any priesthood capacity and can help us to be more Intune to "know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." And yes Jared, I get what you are saying, and I hope you keep sharing it with us all. We really appreciate your time and talent!

3 yrs ago i returned to the church and now receives my endowments. My biggest fear is slipping away. So i listen to the prophets, Apostles,and scriptures on how and what to do to avoid it. I ask God with much sincerity "please lead me not into temptations but delivery me from evil" and also listen to Alma and his warnings and take heed and pray. I'm taking nothing for granted.

You and I are in the same boat. Been 5 years since I returned. Having a calling has certainly helped keep me engaged. For me, not been an easy road returning. But I’ve never questioned that I’m where I belong. Just changing many things about me has been hard. Calling has helped during those weaker weeks where I’d be tempted not to go. Sometimes thinking why do I try when I keep failing. That’s the beauty of this gospel. All about love and forgiveness. Keep the faith!

Brother Halverson, thank you for teaching and expounding the scriptures. You invite the Spirit to teach and testify of the Son of God. Your discussion on "Am I worthy" and how the Spirit works through repentant but imperfect servants is very helpful. I feel your love and express my love to you back. Thank you for serving God and His children.

I think of my Heavenly Father to be like my earthly father was. I most always knew my dad loved me. My dad most always had a happy attitude and a kind heart for me

My father was so special too. I never once had to doubt his love. I felt like he put me way up there, as I knew he not only loved me, but gave me his respect as well. Those two things gave me confidence in myself. Heavenly Father loves us and also gives us His confidence in us... that we can be all we can become.

@@reneestewart7977 Yes! “Confidence” My parents were divorced when I was in high school but even with all the hardships and lessons divorce brings I KNEW both my parents loved me even though they couldn’t get along. They loved my siblings as well, but I knew I was loved and that makes all the difference in the world for them. Thank you for your insightful comment 🤗 I’ve always been grateful I knew of my mom n dad’s love for me. But now that I have an idea of how their love presented in me, I can ponder even more how important God’s love is for His children ♥️

Oh, Brother Halverson-we CAN and should expect (if we are living our covenants) to have the Holy Ghost with us 100% of the time. My Patriarchal Blessing implies this but I experienced its truth one afternoon after a horrendous evening of having to ask HARD self-reflecting questions of another. Father gave me the questions to be asked. Afterwards I lay on my bed listening to the Hymns bawling because of my horridness-showing another painful things. Every time a song about Christ (lots of those in the Hymns) played I was encompassed head-to-toe with the Spirit but did I accept that I hadn’t done anything wrong: no I remained distraught. Now jump to the next day at my work-a school. I worked with small groups for 30 minutes and then another group. My last group before lunch-the most difficult one-and I am teaching and palpably the Spirit leaves! I have no clue to this day what I did but I will tell you what the Spirit taught me. Immediately after the group left I went around the shelving unit and knelt down to beg for forgiveness. In the midst of that prayer clear as clear can be “I do not leave you when you are speaking to _____”(my now ex). My co-worker (a RS President) walked around and saw me in prayer. We talked afterwards and she too felt the Spirit leave the room. I’ve come to the conclusion that He is with us always unless we drive Him away. I believe we become so accustom to having the Spirit within us that it is much like the saying, “A fish discovers water last”.

47:00 Sometimes, even often the used to be souls have left those who yet remain and are the never were. Many great saints have been over used and unappreciated. Those who remain were just waiting to overuse and unappreciated more great saints. Thanks Jared... Our property in Christ and the Holy Spirit is additional scriptures, personal revelation and our Heavenly Parents who do not wait for human beings to judge each other but deal with each individual with love and compassion appropriate for them. Protecting one's self from evil doers hidden among the saints is not judged by the One true God the same way, as being the evil doers.

If we have received salvation and live according to the gospel of Jesus Christ we can say we are no longer sinners but children of Salvation the Holy Spirit IN Jesus Christ. The balance is with God IN prayer.
@AgnesCongdon-xk8hr Жыл бұрын
In waiting for individuals 😴 to become perfect 🥰 to serve God and the children of God, we would be waiting beyond the length of our own lifespan and beyond the length of the afterlife, for no one would receive blessings of the imperfect or being imperfect themselves qualify for blessings. Yet we are blessed with life and the multitude of the blessings of God IN and about Jesus Christ. John said he was not qualified to baptize Jesus. Who was greater than John besides Jesus? Which is greater the altar or the sacrifice? There are lots of scriptures that balance the responses to questions we may ponder. Enjoying yourself... 😉 with the Holy Spirit IN Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Parents and each other. Don't worry about Satan. Satan has enough employees and employment.

Brother Halverson, you should go to the movie "After Death" that starts the 27th. It's put out by Angle studios producers. I watched their podcast last night and had on 4 of the people in the movie and talked about their experiences. Each a little different..but experience what John is talking about with these scriptures. Fascinating discussions! The one guy describing the the body and the spirit/soul when he was separated from his body.

I have been listening to all your CFM podcasts for the New Testament. I am especially grateful for insights that can be specifically applied to mental and emotional health as many in my family our challenged in that area. I have learned so much!! Thank you for your time and teaching! I was fascinated today by your discussion about the literal interpretation of bowels and the deeper meaning it gives to bowels of mercy and bowels of compassion. I'm have been fascinated by the correlation between ancient Hebrew and ancient Chinese for quite some time. Are you familiar with how the heart and the bowels are explained in traditional Chinese medicine? The ancient Chinese have identified 5 vital organs and 5 bowel structures as a basis for physical and emotional health. It is in the interaction of these 10 organs and structures that we find the true condition of our hearts, i.e. our character, our way of being, the how and why behind our decisions and responses to life's circumstances. It is interesting that the Chinese describe the bowels as hollow organs. In a sense, they may be considered reservoirs that we can draw from in times of stress and need. If we can imagine our bowels as reservoirs being filled with compassion, mercy, grace, love, faith, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, etc., we can imagine how that reservoir can feed our souls during times of famine and drought of those attributes in our society. In the Lord's plan of perpetual progression, I believe we slowly add reserves to our reservoirs of compassion and mercy through our obedience to God and our practice of Christlike attributes. In my personal quest for emotional resiliency, I have found this visual image to be very helpful.

Hello Bro Halverson! Question for you regarding the talk about feeling the spirit. Most times when I feel the spirit, it brings me to tears, other times I feel the strong burning like the scriptures teach. Are these both the spirit working differently and why does the spirit feel different at different times? I always put a preference on the latter type. Lol.
@gavinrichins57 Жыл бұрын
I think they both have to be worthy for the blessing but worthy in God's way is probably different than what we can guess in some cases however I don't think you can remove the consequences of not being worthy and just say God will just fix it regardless if your worthy or not. the Atonement will in the end make all that was wrong and unfair for your benefit if we fallow him I believe life's not far and we do what we can to make it less so. I was the young man giving blessings that lived off of the Idea that God will still help this person it wouldn't be fair if he didn't just because I'm not worthy and I found out that he will but not through you he will have to call another to do the work if your not willing. Don't be the reason God has to call someone else because you have been found wanting. 👍
