I like the friendship I feel with you. I wish you could feel the friendship we have for you. You are our friend, teacher, mentor, and inspirator maximus as you assist the Savior in bringing us to Him. Thank you. Your mother must be so proud of you! I know I am. All your years of education are blessing all your students. Again, thank you. And thank you to your wife and family as they share your time and devotion with all of us.

Dear Brother Halverson, I am struggling to find adequate words to describe my gratitude to you for these videos! This is the first time in my 27 years in the church that I have studied the Doctrine and Covenants so thoroughly. To say I have learned so much is a gross understatement! Thank you for the years of study and devotion that have made you into the incredible teacher you are. Thank you for the sacrifice of time and effort you have made to teach us! Thank you for being “sorry, not sorry” for the length of these lessons! Honestly, I would watch them if they were 5 or 6 hours long as they are as a long cool drink to my parched soul. This section has been a particular blessing for the hope it gives me for my many “lost” family members who have passed through the veil (I am the only member of my family and feel I was strategically placed in this family so their temple work could done…the stories I could tell!). I’m also thrilled at the idea that I will have opportunities to continue working on the other side of the veil! My mind is blown as I consider these great truths and I praise our God for you bringing them to me. I wish I had the voice of an angel to thank you and can’t wait for future lessons, especially as we head into next year with the OT which I love!! Bless you and your family! 😊❤️

Dear Brother Halverson, my mother has really enjoyed your Come Follow Me lessons. No not just enjoyed loves and finds comfort in your voice. She listens to you early in the morning when it’s quiet. She has had some unique experiences with those who have gone on listening with her. My Dad has been suffering with health problems and just passed away on Friday the 26 of November. She is listening to your lesson now and has fallen asleep. A nap that she really needed. You have provided the comforting voice to let her relax enough to sleep. She loves you and so do I as her daughter. Thank you, Suzanne.

Years ago a Christian friend returned from her vacation overseas. I asked her what she did on her vacation. She told me she stayed at a monastery for one week fasting, praying, and reading her scriptures, because she wanted to know what Jesus did the three days he was in the tomb. She said she never got an answer. I told her I knew what he did, it is recorded in our scriptures! I emailed her section 138. What a blessing to know. And all the more reason to share it, because there could be others out there among us who also would love to know. Thank you for your incredible “Unshaken” lessons week after week.

Hi, your story reminded me of when I was Catholic and I had many questions without answers. I got baptized at 17 yrs old and this is one of the doctrines that confirmed to me that Jesus Christ has infinite power to bring all Father's children back to Him; that the plan of Salvation is perfect and that there was a need to restore Christ's gospel. What happened with your friend after knowing about what Jesus did in the spirit world?

I, as many who already commented, being a convert to the church for 23 years, finally am getting a better and deeper understanding and appreciation for D&C with the help of your lessons. Looking forward to the Old Testament (the one I began my early journey in the church with a wonderful teacher back in Ukraine) Many blessings to you and your family 💗

Thank you, Jared, for reminding us to take time to ponder and to slow down while reading and STUDYING the scriptures. (about the 50 minute mark) The example of President Joseph F. Smith in section 138 is for ALL of us to follow if we are to have the heavens open up to us as individuals. I think Come Follow Me actually gives us that opportunity to hyper-focus on certain scriptural topics and to ponder their meaning in our personal lives. At least it has done that for me and you have been the facilitator of some of those for which I am very grateful. Keep up the good work Brother. You are blessing MANY lives.

How can I thank you enough for this wonderful lesson? It has really touched my heart. I have always considered, long before joining The Church, that I have sat, quite literally, at the feet of my Heavenly Father and Mother, learning everything that I would need to know to cope with every eventuality that I would experience in this Earth life. I have felt that sometimes those lessons were on a one to one basis where I learned what would be specific for my welfare here, and at others I was surrounded by others who were also receiving knowledge of a more general nature. I might have been instructed by others, but I only ever ‘see’ and remember our heavenly parents doing the teaching. Thank you again for your most incredible lesson and for all of the others that you have prepared and delivered so ably over the past couple of years. Our Gospel understanding has grown so much thanks to your efforts. We salute you and may God bless you and your family now and always. Love from Janet & Alistair C🎈xx

In this year I have learned to love and appreciate Joseph Smith in a way I never have before. I have learned so much about more church history than I could have believed possible. On a much more personal note, my son Jered would be the same age as you are if he had not been killed driving his motorcycle home from work 4 years ago. Paul’s words about the Redeemer going to preach to the spirits in prison suggests that all of the spirit world was Spirit Prison, prior to the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, and His subsequent advent to the spirit world was the opening of the doors to let out those who were prepared (read: willing, with faith sufficient?) to be freed at that point, to be followed later by those who would hear and heed their invitation to enter into a covenant relationship with the Bridegroom. Is there also an analogy in this with the First Resurrection and subsequent periods of resurrection? 1:23:10 “Multiplying Himself by multiplying messengers…” That’s masterful, Bro. Halverson!

I love them so much for the protection they give me and I know they pray for me because they need me here to do their work and I need them to keep me safe. 1:09:25 "A divine refresher course" really caught my attention. I have had a vision wherein the Savior came to my Ward building and began to explain the scriptures. The cultural hall had 10 long tables set up with white notebooks about 3" thick. I opened one and in the upper Left hand corner, there was a little 2x2 black and white photo of a scholarly church member and beneath the photo were their areas of expertise listed. The rest of the page was blank I assumed for note taking during the Savior's teaching. This was the same on every page with different photos of folks with different expertise. No one else was yet there, but Jesus walked up to the stage and leaning against it, began expounding scripture to me. I remember thinking the one he opened with was something I'd known since Primary! But the moment that I thought this, He opened my mind's eye. I saw the eternal depth and breadth of these powerful words teaching truths far deeper than I had ever supposed. I could see them extend into space in every direction, the comprehension of these words would have taken me a long time to ponder to capture a small portion of what He was trying to teach me. Yes, when the Master teaches, we are TRULY edified.

Thank you for your diligence in providing your teaching on Come Follow Me each week. It has been a great blessing. In the episode this week you mentioned the "three fold mission of the Church." I know you know that the Church has a "four fold mission" now...changed during the presidency of President Monson: Perfect the Saints, Redeem the Dead, Preach the Gospel and Care for the Poor and Needy. I think it is so important that we not forget this last focus of our mission statement as it appears to me that it may be the key to our growth and salvation. Matthew 25:31-46 tells us how we become "sheep" (right hand) as distinguished from the "goats" (left hand). This scripture tells us how we truly become His sheep. Another scripture which is vitally important is Alma 34:28-29. It says that even after we may have been faithful in accomplishing the first three if we fail to care for the poor and needy, our "prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites who do deny the faith. Therefore, if ye do not remember to be charitable, ye are as dross, which the refiners do cast out, (it being of no worth) and is trodden under foot of men." The prophets have taught this clearly, including President Nelson. There are many other scriptures that teach these principles, including and especially, the Book of Mormon. The two great commandments are a key here: Love God and Love Our Neighbor. We can only love God by keeping His commandments and loving our neighbor...that is the way provided for us to show our love to Him.

At 1:55 We think of the plan of salvation in a linear manner...pre mortality, earth life, post mortality In fact it would be better described as a 🔵...pre mortality and post mortality are the same place. It's all one spirit world. When our teenage son died two years ago, our daughter was expecting her second child. When the time came for her to deliver her baby, I was alone at her apartment. I was suddenly overcome with great sadness...I realized Seth was losing his little buddy in the spirit world...then I was filled with overwhelming joy as I was given to see three other children standing with him...our daughter's other children! He was not alone...of course he wasn't! We don't often think of children yet to be born until someone is expecting one. I was extremely blessed to have been given a glimpse of my son with his niece and nephews. I know the spirit world is all one place together with those who have lived on earth and those who have yet to be born.

1:11:50 The assembled spirits were singing praises to Jesus when he appeared. Your mention of Alma’s question, “have ye received His image in your countenance?” (Alma 5:14), reminded me of Alma 5:26 where he asks if they still feel to sing the “song redeeming love”.

Brother Halverson, in the beginning of this video you speak of visions and of not knowing what it's like to have one and so your unwillingness to judge and condemn Joseph for having multiple versions of his first vision as he tried to express and verbalize his experience when he first saw the Father and the Son. I appreciate your take on Joseph's difficulty. It is an indication of your level of enlightenment. I wish the world was full of people with your perception. In December of 2013 I was given a compensatory blessing. For several years I had been asking Father a question. I had returned to church after being inactive for a long time after going through a divorce. When I returned, I felt a hunger and need to immerse myself in the scriptures. I read the Standard Works completely, the first 14 months of reactivation. As I did so, I began to notice how much they refer to the power inherent in the spoken word. My question then became, "What is the power in sound? What gives sound the power to create or to destroy?" I asked that question for 3 years. Within that time frame I became homeless. I call it my wilderness experience. I was homeless for 3 years. I spent a year and a half of that time at an Evangelical shelter for the homeless. There I learned about grace and the power and why of forgiveness. And I kept asking my question. The residents in this facility attended classes about the Bible every day. When I first arrived I asked everyone there what was the power in sound? When I attended our church, I asked every priesthood holder I could find, that question, hoping for an answer. No one, anywhere, could give me an answer. Well, at the end of one of the Bible classes at the shelter one day, the teacher pulled me aside and told me he was going to teach a chapel session on my question. While he was talking to me, I was looking at him and listening to him and then suddenly I couldn't see him or hear him or see or hear any of the other students who were walking around us. Then what I saw was a black background with the scripture John 1:1-3, 14. It said, In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without him was not anything made that was made. Then verse 14 followed immediately, And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...." When my eyes read those words the Spirit, like a thunder bolt, shot through my being like a bolt of electricity and the name that came with that feeling was "Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!" Then the image of the words on the black background disappeared and the room came back into focus and I could hear the sounds of the other students and my teacher was still talking to me. The power within sound and the spoken word is Jesus Christ. That was aMAAAAzing!!!!! Oh. MY. Gosh. It was given to me from Him as a gift...a compensatory blessing. I had never had a vision before. It is hard to explain what it felt like. But it is unforgettable!!!!!!!! It was a tender mercy from Him to me, to teach and comfort and to help me not feel alone and abandoned. He is my best friend. And will always be so.

Thank you Brother Jared for all your videos this year. I have learnt so much and for most of my life I have struggled with scripture study. You have brought them to life and I love the way you teach so humble, so full of the spirit , easy to understand and I have loved your personal stories that you have shared. Can't thank you enough.

Paul spoke on Mars Hill about being organized when and where we would come to earth (Acts 17:26). That was the sixth day of creation when all the spirits who would ever live on this earth in mortality were organized in the spirit world of this earth. Paradise is to return to that place and have those memories return. Prison is to not know where they came from and find themselves in unfamiliarity. I learned this from a near death experience that made Joseph F Smith's revelation so powerful in giving me a scriptural confirmation of what was revealed to me.

I remember when the prophet told us to give this session a good read and review and I did just that. It gives me hope for the wandering sheep in my life and hope for me. Never short change your teaching brother for if what you say changes hearts then it was the spirit teaching through you and he is not to be short changed. I realize that what we receive in the next life might have more visual clarity for thoughts may be more transparent but for dealing with us mere mortals I think you transport Gods word in a very fine manner.

As I listened to this week’s lesson it struck me that all Christians with a hope of their own redemption through the atonement of Jesus Christ, by default believe in an INFINITE atonement without the limits that are often placed on it by most religions. We are all separated from the act of the atonement by thousands of years and generations of death, therefore we must all have faith that the power of His redemption can reach through those barriers and claim our hopeful, believing hearts. To believe, or hope for, anything less would be to put a limit on the word ‘infinite’ which is kind of funny. Because he can save us through death and time ‘it must needs be an infinite atonement (2 Ne 9:7) and that, by definition HAS to apply to those who came before, those who came after (us) and those who never had a chance while in this ‘mortal tabernacle.’ See, we all believe in the work for the dead, anything less would put a limit on infinity and our own ability to be redeemed through the atonement! Thanks for everything, I know these must take a lot of time to produce in a life with plenty of other demands and trials. I really appreciate it!

All of your videos have been fabulous...but your insights on section 138 really touched my heart. I had to listen more than once.....(which means I am a week behind.. 🤣,).....I have done your schedule to read all the standard works this year...I should finish this week, which has been wonderful....but I have also enjoyed extra time and study of the D and C. I already loved that book...but you have opened the floodgates of enjoyable understanding. Thank you...every day...and bless your family..

41: you talk about being in the air. I have been a member all my life but in my 30s. I experienced it. JesusChrist told us in the NT that we should have solid rock under our feet but I didn’t feel that way. In large part because the testimony building experiences that I acknowledged were spiritual. I couldn’t explain them and sometimes I wondered if I’d misidentified them for my own feelings or picked up from those around me. I went thru a faith crises then. I began studying the Bible first. In it I began to see a pattern that all the real prophets performed physical miracles that are beyond men’s abilities. Proving that this man is called of God. Not a self proclaimed prophet. At that point I began looking for the physical witnesses Alma talked of with korihor Alma 30 The more physical witnesses I identified the closer I got to the rock. Now I feel my feet are solidly planted on it. It’s a wonderful safe feeling. I recommend it

Brother Halverson: I appreciate all your time and effort in providing these lessons. I have been participating since Mosiah in the Book of Mormon last year and all of this year. I have learned so much and gained many great insights about the Doctrine and Covenants and church history. It has impacted my life, and given me a different perspective on sharing the gospel, teaching, and studying the gospel. Your experiences in Memphis and the mission field remind me of some of mine in the Bible Belt in Texas. My only regret is not taking notes. If I had, I would have a great commentary on the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. I am usually listening to the lessons on my commute to work. What a great way to start the day! Thanks again for all you do. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed.

When I was a missionary, Elder Gene R Cook was my Mission President. Whenever we requested an answer of a question, he would refer us to scripture, and he would tell us which side of the page it was on, which column and how far down on the page we would find it before he opened the book . He was 36 years old. So many years ago and still I cannot reach that goal. He was and is so engaged in the scriptures always that they became alive in our minds. So much love, so much knowledge, so much faith. I will continue to seek to reach that in my life. Such great examples to all of us. Thanks for yours and the knowledge you also share.

Hola hermano Halverson.

We are all coming home! Loved your tender testimony to finish this wonderful lesson! Loved also at the end where you demonstrated that Joseph Smith had used the scripture saying that the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is not being able to be forgiven, to reciprocally indicate that there were sins that could be forgiven....Into my mind popped a legal term I have heard from my husband - exclusio unius (sp?) that seemed to apply (the exclusion of one, allows for the other to be the case) and wonderfully, that he walked into the room at that moment, so I could read him that PJS quote and quiz him on the correct use of that (his) term and connect him with a bit of this inspiring study... which he has become distanced from. Sorry long post, just happened, thankful.

First I assure you will probably make to the told you this is to let you know I had taught about sections and knew of their importance. I started on my Celestial Kingdom! Also, you are like Joseph F. Smith. You constantly recall scriptures when you are teaching. Your explanation of Spirit Prison was very helpful. I used to think it two places. Paradise and Spirit Prison. All the dead are in Prison: the unrighteous because don't know of Christ or had rejected Him they don't know their bodies will be returned to their sprits.that's Sprit Prison. The one that know Christ and know that their sprits and bodies will reunited while still in a prison their minds are free. I am also glad you explained who the three groups of people that he saw represented. Also you reminded me of what I already knew. I do not ponder, reflect and wonder about the scriptures enough. Probably never have. I don't if I have capability to sit that still long enough to receive my own personal revelations. I probably should try harder.

You asked for insight on where spirits received their instruction in premortality and post mortality; did they intermingle for training or were they separate. Didn’t we dwell with Father premortally in a celestial state, and wouldn’t that be different than a post mortal spirit, dwelling in the spirit world on this earth, as Joseph taught, being on a different sphere, still being here on a telestial sphere, in a different state as disembodied spirits? Seems to me that there are likely separate spheres of instruction. What do you think?

To your question about whether pre-mortal spirit world and post mortal spirit world are the same place, one thought I had was that often children for whom the veil is very thin when they are young remember grandparents bringing them to the point of their birth. This would hint that both spirit worlds are in the same place, at least for a short time, maybe longer.
