Thank you, Jared, for this message. My mother is 100 years old and we were at Adam Ondi Ahman last April. She wrote a poem while she was there, that she wanted to share with you. I have added it to this comment: Adam-ondi-Ahman Today I stood on hallowed ground Where many eons gone Adam stood, along with Eve And Peter, James, and John. The truth was taught and Adam knew The glory of his mission His valiancy and love for God Put Satan in submission. So now I stand and gaze around At all the beauty here The magnitude touches my heart In awe, I shed a tear. What was this land outside of Eden The place of our beginning A place for us to know The consequence of sinning. We came to earth as Adam did Accountable to God Now I stand here all alone In deed, on holy sod. The rolling hills and valleys Hold a secret in their midst As if they’re waiting patiently For something they have missed. But Christ will come in all His Glory To this sacred spot The valley and the rolling hills Will know the wonders they have sought. We wait with faith and love and hope For Christ to reign for all Because the plan was heaven made Long before the fall. It all began on this great land I give my love to Adam The first and lonely man to stand On Adam-ondi-Ahman. April 6, 2021 Marilyn Jaussi (1921-present)

Yes. That poem is so heartbreaking. I have two children that have chosen paths that I know will ultimately bring sorrow. Because of that, I feel sorrow. Everyday I wonder what I can do or what I should have done to inspire them into a different direction. Mortality is hard.

Brother Halverson, Have you read the series of articles by Hugh Nibley entitled: "A Strange Thing in the Land"? They are the story of Enoch & well worth the read. I am listening to your discussions current & past & always listen to them over & over again. They are so enlightening! We pray that you will keep up this amazing gospel instruction. Thank you for sacrificing your time to walk with us all on our journey back home. Again and always, a huge thank you to your wife and each of your children for their sacrifices in helping you make these profound lessons possible. How I loved that phrase.... Celestial Homesickness. I wrote a poem inspired by the scriptures last year. A friend put music to it... It goes something like this... Oh how my soul aches To be with Thee. To touch the hem of Thy robe And feel the power of Thy love. Yet in my longing I pause I pause to cast mine eyes above..... I've forgotten the rest but I'll go look for it and post it here if anyone is interested. If anyone has musescore, we're happy to share the music too.

My little sister had such a hard time learning how to read. Our parents tried everything they could find, even hooked on phonics, to no avail. She learned to read as we read The Book of Mormon together. What a gift this scripture has been to my family! I’ve been taught the gospel from my earliest childhood memories, but the new insights gained through studying and listening to this lecture on Enoch and Adam alone, not to mention the past couple years of closely following your podcasts, make me feel like I’m starting from scratch in many ways! Thank you for the richness of doctrinal insights gained from of each of your lessons ( podcasts). As a “Walker,” I am drawn to the story of Enoch and how he walked with God (and I was a “Shoemaker” before I married!😄) It is my daily hope and prayer that I will be found walking with Him and on the path that leads me to life eternal. How grateful I am to believe and feel and know with all my senses that this gospel is true. I loved the imagery you created in this discussion while utilizing the cognitive and experiential to explain the balance. And as a marriage and family therapist, that teaching resonated even deeper! So very grateful to you, dear Jared, for your wisdom and faith!!

Brother Halverson! As usual, your wonderfully informative and insightful classes provoke a boatload of observations I would love to share if not in person, then via email etc. I continue inadequate to my intentions. But may I at least share here something that was brought to my attention back in 2001 by a friend who did some research and shared this on a radio station KMGR about the Gospel in Genesis.... More precisely in the genealogy itemized in chapter 5. If I was a little more savvy I would share the photo of the transcript she provided to me. The 10 names listed from Adam to Noah translate apparently to the following. MAN APPOINTED MORTAL SORROW THE BLESSED GOD SHALL COME DOWN TEACHING, HIS DEATH SHALL BRING THE DESPAIRING REST. I'm interested in your insights on this! Most sincerely, Varena Terrero

There's so much more to scripture than we can possibly imagine! Joining the meanings of names of this genealogy, leaves us w/ a precious message: Hebrew English Meaning Adam................................ Man Seth...................................Appointed Enos..................................Mortal Cainan...............................Sorrow Mahalaleel........................The Blessed God Jared.................................Shall come down Enoch................................Teaching Methusaleh.......................His death shall bring Lamech.............................The despairing Noah..................................Comfort, or rest I learned from Sister Donna B. Nielsen(sp?), that "If we read the names in order as a sentence, we find: 'Man [is] appointed mortal sorrow; [but] the Blessed God shall come down teaching [that] His death shall bring [the] despairing [comfort &] rest.' Here is the 'gospel' hidden within the name meanings from a genealogy in Genesis!" Thank you, Brother Halverson, for your precious teachings and insights each week! The Spirit feels mighty in what I listen to each and every time! Everlasting Gospel yes indeed. A debt of gratitude to those who like Jesus Christ, Adam and Eve made unselfish choices that have bought to pass the way. Right and wrong, truth and error, misery or happiness this life is a difficult ground to prove one's obedience but its not impossible. There are victors past and present and of course in future days, those unknown in meadows lay, fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, cousins too. Who paid the price of true discipleship, who pays the price for you.

You briefly mentioned tonight a past lesson where you shared about a grandmother who couldn’t attend her granddaughters wedding and you using the daughter of Jeras to respond. Which lesson was that? I believe it must be one prior to my discovery of you and I very much would like to see that lesson!

I was wondering if the poems you read for this lesson about Cain and Abel and the one on the last lesson about Eve could be written down maybe on FB or IG or even here on KZbin. They were beautiful poems and would love to keep them in my scripture journal.

Does the scriptures say who baptized Adam and blessed him with the Holy Ghost?

It would seem that it was the Holy Ghost the way the scripture reads...but I've wondered about that as well.

Nice but you have to watch out in saying that all Cain's posterity is doomed because Lamech and Zillah have Naamah, who is the wife of Mathuselah, who is the father of the Prophet Lamech and the Great Grandfather of Noah. So family lines are important, but no one is condemned forever, either personally or in family tree. We all have agency to be redeemed. People can as you say bend chains towards righteousness, but you also find that everything is interconnected. The thing that matters is what you let have influence in you.

As always thank you for your commitment. A thought that stuck with me is your comment about the ability to write by inspiration. There is power in writing and yet writing it is taught less and less.

Thank you so much for helping me to see what the symbolism is in these beautiful scriptures. I have struggled for so long to try and understand the Old Testament and always dreaded it when it was time to go through it again. These discussions are opening up a whole new world of understanding for me. God bless you as you help many more than I.

Thanks you for saying the atonement covers all men 2:10. For years I’ve been saying that those in the terrestrial kingdom have repented and accepted their proxy baptism. It’s amazing just how many members find that difficult to accept or believe

Thank you again for opening our eyes, ears, and heart during this lesson. I appreciate when you help compare what is going on physically to what is happening with relation to the spiritual side of these scriptures. I also enjoy learning more about how the meaning of words, especially in the context of those who recorded the history of God's children, so that we can appreciate the significance of the names and words that are presented in the scriptures. I am glad for the reminder that sometimes we need to understand the things of God intellectually as we harken unto Him (God) and times when we need to understand certain principles of the Gospel with our Hearts. I am also grateful for the reminder to Look Up for answers from God and not just looking side to side at our neighbors for answers. I can feel sympathetic to your investigator who is confused about the different, seemingly conflicting voices when it comes to certain decisions of our day (i.e. policies and opinions as to what to do and how to act with regards to having or not having the jabs, etc.). While I have strived to understand the various "jabs" from various experts and watched for possible consequences, ultimately, I will need to turn to the Lord for help through personal prayer, scripture study, and if needed Temple attendance and Priesthood Blessings. Knowing this helps me to see just how many resources God gives us so He can communicate to each one of us the best things for each one of us. Perhaps for some of us getting the jab is fine. Perhaps others, having the illness is enough. Or whatever. The point is, I am glad for this reminder that some decisions are ultimately between you and God and we should be able to respect the decisions of one another as long as we are ultimately striving to follow God, our Father in Heaven and His Son (our Savior), Jesus Christ.
