Thank you for your teaching. I am a former Baptist minister and the son of a former Baptist minister, we both joined this the restored Church of Jesus Christ 50 years ago. I was preaching a sermon in the Baptist church and I said there is no other scripture than the Holy Bible, such as the Book of Mormon, A voice in my mind said, "how do you know that is true," it startled me and I thought, I don't know only that is what I was told. That began my quest to search for knowledge. I went searching and found no evidence of the restored Church until I tracked down a Book of Mormon. I investigated further and a member setup a meeting with the missionaries. I took the discussions and my questions were being answered: who we are, where we came from, why we are here and what happens after mortality. I gained a testimony that this is the Restored Church of Jesus Christ. I joined this Church and baptized my family and my father and mother and we baptized 14 members of our families including 4 generations the 1st year alone. THIS IS THE TRUE AND RESTORED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST. God bless your efforts in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen

You have a beautiful, sincere testimony of listening to the Holy Ghost and acting upon your faith. I'm sure that you have found that your testimony in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed your life, the lives of your family members as well as countless people in the spirit world. You will receive a great welcome home when the time comes for you to depart this Earth. I hope that many in your previous congregation listened to you and accepted the gospel. You are a great example for me and many others, I am sure.

I am also a former Baptist, as brother Palmer. When I was 18 years old, my parents, three siblings, and I found the restored gospel in Peru through missionaries. It was at the end of the '80s. I always had questions about the spirit world. I found the answers in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by learning about the Plan of Salvation. On the day of my baptism, we were 11 people who were baptized, among them my family. Thank you very much for the videos and your testimonials. I can feel the love of our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I can testify of the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ.

Something very important to consider in my opinion: since we’ve been taught that the Book of Mormon is a type and shadow of things to come, and we know there will be lots of destruction before the Savior’s second coming, it’s important to realize that he might not come exactly when we think. It will be very important for all of us faithful disciples to not be discouraged or lose faith if Jesus doesn’t come right away. It may even be the ultimate challenge to our faith that he doesn’t come right away. We may have to wait a few months like the Nephites did. The important thing is to remember to stay faithful and true all the way to the end when he does finally come! Remember the movie The Testaments? At the end of the movie the main character is sad and thinks that Jesus did not come. He had waited his whole life. It’s a really sad part. But when Jesus did come, oh how glorious it was! So let us remember that might be how it is for the second coming. We may have to wait a little longer after the destruction.
@taylorhalverson30524 жыл бұрын
Very much agreed. I've come to the realization that the my main focus should be working on my own heart and repentance. Whether Jesus comes now or sometime in the distant future, I will have to account to God for my life. :)
@Olya4444 жыл бұрын
V. Wilson, you’re right. There will be tons of destruction prior to His coming and it will actually go on for a few years, not months. The Lord did say that that time will be shortened for the elect’s sake. It will be the ultimate test of our conversion and of our hearts. But He will be with us. In the church we almost never talk about the multiple visits that constitute His return, nor of the time immediately preceding His Second Coming, a time of pestilence, war, famine, depreciation of currency, earthquakes. We don’t talk about it. And now it’s here...And as I said above, I am not implying that Christ is almost here, but the time intended to prepare us and the earth for it, the beginning of the end is. I feel that we as a church are completely unprepared for what’s to come. Because our idea of what’s to come is our own, not scriptural. We feel that if our hearts are pure before God, when famine comes, we will be ok to stop eating for a couple of years. And better yet, our children are ok to stop eating as well. I don’t understand this logic!!!! It breaks my heart and I wish someone would explain it to me!!!!!

I listen to you every week and love it! I noticed that you left the timing of the Lord's visit to the Nephites quite open. I found an excellent explanation for his visit being shortly after his crucifixion and ressurection in David Ridges' commentary on the Book of Mormon in which he is quoting Joseph Fielding Smith. It states that "It appears perfectly clear that the great gathering was immediately after the close of the great period of darkness. We read that the people were 'marveling and wondering one with another' and 'were showing one to another the great and marvellous change that had taken place'. The fact that the multitude had gathered at the temple and were pointing out the great changes that had occurred is evidence that this was an event immediately following the Resurrection. If this event has occurred one year later, the multitude would have been perfectly familiar with these great changes.."

Over the years I have been struck by the Savior’s declarations of his total responsibility for the destruction which came upon the people after his crucifixion. In chapter 9 we hear him saying he burned, buried and sunk. Not only is Christ the great creator but he is also the great destroyer. He destroys evil with great power, commanding the elements. I note that the devil does not rescue the wicked, and cannot. His power, although seemingly all encompassing in today’s world is limited. He can put ideas into people’s minds who then develop them to destroy, but he cannot command the elements. His power is only powerful as men give in to his enticings. Therefore if the world would repent, Satan would have no power.

Thank you for this great lesson. I tried to imagined how scary it must have been to be in the darkness for three days. I hope that we will not be in that kind of situation. However, some are in that kind of spiritual darkness. I have watch a program on TV, last night. It was on the aztèques and their civilization. It show their capital city and their pyramides. They said that they were not the authors of these pyramides but probably got the inspiration from another civilization (unknown to the archeologists). The other civilization had lived about a 1,000 years before the aztèques. They compared them with the egyptians pyramides, but are not questioning why it is so... It was very interesting, and made me thought that our Heavenly Father is giving more and more clues and evidences of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and to show that the Nephites, Lamanites, Jaredites, etc. were real people.

Christ being the author and finisher of our faith points to the second comforter experience, I think. To have our faith finished means that we have knowledge and that our faith is dormant in that thing, because we know (Ether 3:19,20). This is true after we see Christ in this life - we now know for ourselves and Christ has finished our faith. At least that is how I read the scriptures. Also, the people needed time to get to Bountiful. I don't think the 12 apostles were just hanging around Bountiful. Those 2500 people who had this second comforter experience, and interacted with the Savior "one-by-one" on the first day, were there because of personal revelation, and they needed time to travel to Bountiful. The second day people did not get this experience: they were taught by the apostles, not the Lord, and they mostly watched things happen. I think we can learn a lot from this...

Taylor, on your timeline you seemed to indicate that Christ could have come anytime after the ascension and then you referred to the Old World ascension, and then said we didn't know when that would have been. Mormon is talking about the New World ascension of Jesus (3 Nephi 18:19). He appeared initially to just the people at the temple of Bountiful, but then he ascended to heaven. Then the next day, the great multitude was gathered, and he then administered to the full population of people that were in proximity. 3 Nephi 10:18 indicates that after his ascension he would administer to the "people of Nephi" and Lamanites who had been spared after his ascension, which better fits the description in the Book of Mormon that the more full population of people were to be ministered to after the ascension.

Thank you for that good video Wehn I read the Stories in the Book of Mormon and also in the Bible, when God wipes out evil People i always have some questionmarks. We are taught to apply the scriptures to us, so thats what i am doing. But i kind of get troubled when i look out in todays world where im living in and see for example the covid-19 pandemic or massive earthquakes with thousands and rhousands of dead people, I refuse to believe, that these are all evil or less righteous people that died. I also have kind of trouble believing, that in a natural desaster like described in 3rd Nephi 8-11 only the less righteous had been killed. The scale of this catastrlphy is just to massive to believe that. Or did God iin a miraculous way prevent all the „better“ people from dying? When i watch todays World things like this never happen. Its quite the opposite most of the time poor and simple people suffer and die. So what do you guys do to get some comfort in this opposition of things? For me these events like described in 3rd Nephi 8-11 certanly are rhe exception and not the normal case.

I feel the same way as you express. We have other scriptures that says God lets his rain fall on the just and the unjust. The circumstances at the time of the Book of Mormon destruction were specifically prophesied and because of the wickedness of the people, God was required to fulfill prophecy.

I appreciate all your work! However, Taylor got the Omega symbol wrong on the whit board, FYI.

:). I was doing the lowercase for both the Alpha and the Omega. You are correct, that in upper case the Alpha and Omega look different in Greek than what I wrote. :)

The Alpha and Omega discussion was interesting. However, Alpha and Omega is not what would have been said to these people at the time, as they were not Greek. What is the equivalent in Hebrew or Egyptian? Does it carry the same meaning?
@taylorhalverson30524 жыл бұрын
Hebrew would have been aleph and tav. :)

Taylor Halverson Thanks for the response. Pretty close. Has anyone done any research as to why that phrase?

Have you ever accidentally written on your shirt with your marker? I'm watching that marker fly around, and I'm worried about your shirt.

Taylor and Tyler, thank you for the spiritual insights you provide. I have learned a lot from listening to these discussions. As far as spiritual insights, I believe you brethren are right on point. But there is one aspect of your lessons that bother me. Why do you continue to propagate, mainly with your artwork, that the Book of Mormon took place in Meso-america. The Nephites were not Mayans, Olmecs, or Aztecs. These peoples were the ones who built the great pyramids and stone buildings, not the Nephites, but all of your artwork show them in these great cut stone temples. I really believe this is presenting something other than the truth. Once again tho, I really enjoy your lessons. Thank you.

Thanks for watching Scott! And thank you for making time to share. You are right, we use a variety of artwork in our lessons that may be inaccurate such as including LDS artwork from the 70s that make the Nephites look like a bunch of Anglo-Saxon Americans (when instead the Nephites would have looked like typical Middle Easterners). So our use of artwork is not intended to make a statement about the authenticity or validity of any particular piece of art or about any specific location. Your note also mentions this phrase "cut stone temples." There is a misunderstanding being loudly spread by a few zealous members in the church that Israelite buildings, especially Israelite religious buildings, never could be and never were built with cut stone. That interpretation has some significant flaws (including not taking into consideration the enormous amount of archaeological data throughout the Holy Land about how buildings were built). Further, there is no reason to impose our interpretation of not fully understood biblical passages on the Nephites. The advocates of these theories are often in error but never in doubt of themselves. I'm not advocating that the Nephites were Mayan, Olmes, or Aztecs because no one knows. What I am hoping for is that we focus on the things that matter and be more careful to ensure that our interpretations cohere with the totality of evidence and the gospel. Thank for taking time to listen to this long note. I'd be happy to chat further. connect with me via taylor.halverson@gmail.com.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your heartfelt presentations but i don't agree totally with the Christ appearance in the Americas after 40 days! He had already ascended to his father b4 he appeared the first time to the apostles gathered in the room, otherwise they would not have been able to touch him! And there were a lot of unrecorded time space in between his 40 days visit that is not accounted for or mentioned! Also didn't the Lord's atonement happened during his 34th birthday which makes it completely 33 total years of his mission?
