I meant to comment on your last video where you were not feeling great physically: you dug your heels in and got through, looking great doing it. I'm not a gymnast (other sports though) but could really see the great power and speed in your routines. I think you have that bit of "extra" that comes with all your experience and mental toughness that you gained from learning to love the sport again.

The chocolate milk thing is real. I wrote a research paper on it in my exercise science degree and got 98%, so you can trust me 😂. Try to drink it within 20 minutes of finishing (so while stretching) to take advantage of glycogen replenishing.

@@ddpg9976 it's absolutely not. Coconut water replenishes electrolytes and is basically negligible in carbs and protein, which is actually what you need for recovery. Electrolytes are absolutely not the most important thing in recovery, particularly with an anaerobic sport such as gymnastics. Recovery is about being able to, number 1, replenish glycogen stores in the muscles, you have 20 minutes to do this most effectively post workout and the simple sugars in liquid form in the milk and sweetener are ideal for this. Number 2 priority is supplying protein for protein synthesis, which is how your muscles repair themselves after a workout. You know that feeling then next day after a super hard workout where your limbs feel dead? This is usually because of glycogen stores not being replenished properly (within 20 minutes of finishing your workout and the right type of sugar being used). Without this, power is severely reduced the next day, and this is detrimental and dangerous for a gymnast. A healthy diet will supply all the electrolytes needed for an anaerobic sport like gymnastics done in air conditioning and there isn't the same timing needs. Electrolytes need replenished from sweating, gymnasts barely sweat since it's an anaerobic sport. Thus, the requirements for recovery are glycogen replenishment and protein synthesis. Source. Head coach of international level trampoline and tumbling programs for over a decade and a degree in exercise science.
