Sadly, we will never get to see Gilmour play that Black Strat ever again as he auctioned it off for charity. I believe the owner of the Indianapolis Colts bought it for $3.95 million. Gilmour auctioned off his entire collection for more than $21 Million and then donated all the proceeds To fight climate change. Gilmour is just a great human being.

Took my kids, their first concert in life, to see Pink Floyd, which was Floyd's last tour. My daughter was 14 at time and to this day she is a huge fan and brags about them being 1st concert. Pink Floyd not just a concert, was an experience! Saw them in Alabama then came home to Atlanta and went again with kids because we knew they'd never get the chance to see them live again. Concert was at GA Tech and when we came out of concert, the streets were lined with college students for blocks outside, music was so loud they could hear concert outside! I've seen many, many of the greats, Pink Floyd still the best!

I still remember the day when I bought the vinyl album of “Dark Side of the Moon”. I was rooming with ten other guys in a house. We shut the blinds, took the phone off of the hook, shut the lights off, put on our own light show and cranked the volume. We listened to the whole album. That was a memorable evening.

I started listening to Pink Floyd when I was in college and this song and Shine on You Crazy Diamond made me so melancholic but so happy at the same time. These two songs made me think about life and made me grateful for what I had. Now that I'm 36yro Comfortably Numb hits me harder. The guitar solo is pure emotion, f*ck technique, he's making that guitar cry in perfect desolation and tired hope. The studio version is pure beauty and it always makes me shiver. This version live is God tier and I just want to hug him and thank him for making me feel so much in a world that is so numb.

And considerably longer yet if you can find the right mix of the Pulse concert with the remnants of Pink Floyd: the remarkable David Wright on keyboards and the remarkable Nick Mason on drums. I've seen at least 3 different mixes of the song from Pulse, and one of them takes in what I presume is the uncut full length of the closing solo which is a few minutes longer than what we're seeing here.

The thing I've always loved about the song especially live is the paceing . They let the song breathe which makes the solo and the anticipation of it an out of body experience. This was a veteran rock band that just knows how to do it. Phenomenal

I don't want to get too philisophical, but Andy mentioned David Gilmour's skills have diminished due to his age. Just think... In the history of the world, a miniscule of time, three decades (60s, 70s, and 80s), gave us arguably the best musicians, songs, and albums that will ever be. In the grand scheme of things, life is a vapor. There will never be this historically monumental, and timeless music, ever produced again.

I'm now 70 and will never forgive myself for not having attended a Pink Floyd concert. I have to say that I've seen full length televised concerts of a couple of the excellent PF tribute bands. Yes, they do an incredible job of simulating the original sound, spectacle and music note for note, in particular, the Australian tribute band. I didn't know it wasn't PF until the closing credits rolled. They play the giant arenas world wide to full houses and provide the experience. I listened to and was saturated in the music from Syd's days as their maestro, but it was pre-internet and the albums I had didn't have their photos on the covers, and I had no idea what they looked like. RIP Syd and David, but a robust Fuck You to Waters who can be regarded as a legendary songwriter but also a complete dick who to this New Year's Day 2023, still spreads his toxic vibes around any forum that will give him a microphone to speak.

In my opinion, DG is the master of string manipulation. His use of bends, fretting force, vibrato/whammy bar, etc. is all so subtle but so effective. It's hard to perfectly replicate because it's literally all feel.

Everytime I experience the Glory of Comfortably Numb it's like witnessing my own life review & remembering everyone I ever cared about, crossed paths with & loved. It's like being pulled out into the vast sea of pensive moments, both turbulent and beautiful memories and being led into a stratospheric catharsis. This is a song I crave but can only take in small doses. The levels of emotions that ensue take time to recede and settle back down. Pink FLoyd meant the world to my only sibling, my brother who died at only 42 years of age. We often listened to Comfortably Numb together in his car. No doubt, Good times plus super awesome music.

Yes! The best version of Echoes. The finale is just spectacular, and the musical conversation between Gilmour and Wright is so beautiful.

Bruce Metcalfe That version of Echoes should come with a warning: If you suffer from seizures, look away. Awesome light show. To hear a truly angry Gilmour solo, I recommend the outro to Murder from About Face. Only the studio version of this one will do.

Went to Italy and visited Pompeii a few months after this concert. As we walked through the ruins they were playing Pink Floyd and I was moved to another dimension. I saw Pink Floyd live in high school and have always loved them, but the Pompeii experience was surreal.

The amphitheater of Pompeii is very ancient (it was built by the Romans in 70 BC). The Italian government has given permission to use it only 2 times: in 1971 to Pink Floyd for the "Live at Pompeii" concert, and in 2016 for the David Gilmour concert. It has never been used for other events or concerts. There is no need to add anything else.

I highly suggest another video from this concert. It's the Pink Floyd song "One of these days" Watching David Gilmour tear it up on the slide guitar. The tones he gets from it are amazing. You'll be missing out if you don't. And the new set up is great.

I saw them live at Knebworth (40 miles from London) in 1976. Knebworth is a hilly field that makes a natural arena. We were on top of the hill looking down the hill at the crowds and the stage. As dusk kicked in and the music soared over the Summer evening air, it was like being in a magical universe.

Man....tears streaming.Concerning the the tension/frustration you discuss in the solo, that's the beauty of live improvisation, especially when it is becoming so elevated that it's for all practical purposes "sacred", there is a poignancy in the humanity that is stretching to those heights, that evokes yet another dimension of emotional response. For me, I can only describe it as heartbreaking in such a beautiful way. As usual, great segment. I always enjoy listening with you guys and hearing your discourse.

The man singing in the beginning is Chuck Leavell. He played on studio albums with The Allman Brothers, he was on Eric Clapton’s unplugged album, he played live with obviously David Gilmore, George Harrison, He still plays with The Rolling Stones. I had the pleaser of meet him a little over a year ago at one of his solo shows. He’s a great guy, and arguably the best rock pianist out there.

Like the new digs guys. I remember when it was just Andy in the bedroom and he introduced Alex to us all. You guys make a great team and are the best reviewers I've found. This version of Numb has way better sound quality than Plus. I just wish David could have played it the same. No matter he still has it and has no equal. Like myself at 68 it's tough to watch your idols get older.

Saw Floyd many times in Chicago/Wisconsin area. Early in the use of laser light shows, blew us away ( along with some tasty ‘shrooms) . Awesome originators of spectacle showmanship , along with amazing musicians and lyrics. I could tell you some stories. One is from Milwaukee, as Dark Side of the Moon played, and the actual full harvest moon ascended directly behind stage during the apex of the song, now that took some logistics. Brought chills.

Dude Andy's face throughout the whole performance is just beautiful!!! He is just lost in the sauce, shocked and mesmerized by this performance. I was too and a lot of emotions ran through my head like Alex said. I didn't even notice the frustration in the guitarist's eyes, and I love these little things that you both point out in the song/performance because it makes the reactions more real and special! I love the live version better than the studio version because of how real and raw it is! The visuals were amazing and for the band's age in this video, they kicked ass! With that being said, great reaction video and have a great day Andy and Alex!!! :)
