The first Batman/Grendel series is probably my favorite Hunter Rose story, and the second one with Grendel Prime is a lot of fun too. Great stuff.

I swear, anything Steve Rude gets a hold of turns to gold. His crossovers are the best. Magnus/Nexus is incredible, it would make for a good episode. As would Superman/Hulk.

The crossover event has evolved into an ongoing series. Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw have "Crossover" currently running at Image about the world of comic books (all of them) spilling into the "real world". It's been fun seeing the workarounds they implement to show or hint at characters they don't have the legal rights to. Madman shows up on loan from Allred though. Seeing Madman pop up in this video reminded me of the series. May want to check it out, Jim, for all the easter eggs if nothing else.

I thought the Marvel vs. DC crossover(1996) was fun, not because of the big stupid fight, but because of the spin-off Amalgam books of smooshed-together characters like X-Patrol, Bruce Wayne Agent of Shield and, my favorite, Dr. Strangefate by Garcia-Lopez and Kevin Nowlan.

Love the hustle. Keep those reviews coming. How about a Shade the Changing Man Comparison: Ditko (1977) and Milligan (1990). I believe that the Milligan run was the first time that DC ever had a warning on the cover "Suggested for Mature Readers".

I haven't read much of the Milligan run, but I adore Ditko's original. Don't sleep on my Partner-in-Creativity - Cecil Castellucci's Shade, it's good too. Makes me want to check out Milligan's run now. McCarthy drew an issue of it. I think every Shade issue that I've seen has good art! All 3 volumes. - Jim

@@CartoonistKayfabe never read Shade The Changing Girl (Cecil), but I like her work. I see your connection with her. Reading the Milligan and Bachalo run was like being on psychedelics without being on psychedelics. Loved Bachalo's work on The Children's Crusade with Gaiman.

Neal Adams re-penciled Ross Andru's pencils throughout the first Superman vs Spider-man. Pretty sure he re-penciled or worked over Andru's pencils on most of the Superman figures (not sure what the term for repenciling or tightening up pencils ) but not as much over Spider-man. Adams did this for free because he felt that Superman didn't look dynamic enough. You guys should ask him about it. Super nice guy and not shy about sharing what went on. Also Terry Austin inked a lot of the background- like Adams, this is also uncredited. My memory might be a tiny bit off so I'd appreciate it if someone sets me straight where I'm off base.

Sometimes I love Stuart Immonen´s art, sometimes I HATE then. The one I hated the most is in Gen-13/Spider-man Crossover. It´s so horrible, there´s even a frame that is a picture of a city. A PHOTOGRAPH! HHAHAHAAH I have one that you guys didn´t shoed up. Superman vs Silver Surfer.

I honestly think Maron could be up for playing Stan. He was pretty vocal against superhero films mainly but he seems to be warming to them slightly through the people he's interviewing. Pretty sure he said he was reading a book called the marvel universe. Thought at first he said it was a philosophy book that just so happened to have that name but it might have been one of the behind the scenes of marvel books. I don't think he'd be bothered reading a book about marvel if he wasnt looking into the role, since loads of people say it. A long shot but it's fun to speculate

Technically the shadowhawk and 1963 crossover kicks off the entire series. It came out before the six issue series did.
