This song was first released in 1970, when he was known as Johnny Farnham. I still have it as a “45” record from that time. IMHO, this is one of the best, if not the best, Farnham song. This performance exemplifies his amazing voice. One of the standout features of this video is that he does not need to “swallow” the microphone to demonstrate the power of his voice.

It was written by an Englishman, John Bromley, who had recorded a few singles himself prior to this. Johnny Farnham flew to the UK to meet him before then recording the song. I agree with many of the posters on here that the studio version of his is probably Farnham's greatest and most touching moment. An absolutely superb song.
