Greg, if an athlete misses a set do you count it? If a lifter is doing 8 sets of clean pull + clean and misses set 5 (all at the same weight) would you not count that set and say rest and go again or do you just make a mental note as a coach or make the lifter move down in weight or what? I know it's probably an "it depends" answer but any advice I'd appreciate.

It always "counts" in the sense that it's part of their training volume. Whether or not I have them repeat to make up the bad set will depend. If it's an obvious technical mistake that I know the lifter can correct the next time, for example, I will probably have them repeat. If it's genuinely too heavy that day for whatever reason, I will either stop them or, more likely, have them reduce the weight or reps to finish that exercise on makes.

Hey Greg, do your athletes know their day's workout days/weeks in advance or do they find out the day they arrive at the gym?
@CatalystAthletics10 жыл бұрын
I typically give them a week in advance, although they know it can change a bit day to day.

When performing pulls or snatches with straps do your athletes still use a hook grip? I find it hard to use the hook grip when I bring straps into the equation.
