Simracing is difficult. Learning how to drive fast takes time, dedication and persistence. Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the best simulations with highly sensitive aerodynamics that want to be respected. Telemetry, such as motec helps with analyzing car behavior and finding major issues in the car setup or driving style. Special sim racing hardware also helps with becoming better, but certainly is not the solution to your problems. Load cell pedals offer better feel. Stronger but most importantly more detailed force feedback of e.g. direct drive wheels offer more immersive sensations. Though I know and I've seen throughout the years, people with entry level hardware perform on top level.

Thanks Nils, this is great. I've just found out part of the reason why I'm such a lousy driver. All the time I was thinking I needed to learn to setup a car to go fast, suit my driving style, only to come across this vid and realize I need to focus on the 10 points you've highlighted. Thanks again mate and keep them coming, also the races, love to watch you race. Cheers.

Your free coaching video on spa helped me so much. I would hit 2:19 once every few days or so. After your video I realized a big problem was my braking pressure and throttle application and most importantly getting a good corner exit. I hit 2:19 now almost every lap and getting close to 2:18

Great video. Explains what I’m feeling lately. My last CP race I went from 25th to 8 as a slow guy only because of 1 reason. Stoped breaking so late and turning in so much and found my lap times after 55min on the same tyres were the same or with slight improvement. I need to work on my lines and exits.

One thing I really like about ACC is inches matter as far as getting it right, if you pay attention to what your wheel and car is telling you know easily when you are over driving the car or slowing down corner entry will pay dividends on corner exit speed. I have really started enjoying the gt4 cars as the aero is less, horse power is less and smooth driving to keep up momentum is even more important to nail that lap time. I have subscribed and enjoy your channel, You and Aris both are awesome with the knowledge and content you share to help us normal slow guys come more to grips with getting better in ACC! Thanks.

I've watched a lot of videos like this and not realy improved. However, some things you mentioned just clicked (along with the visuals) and I ended up binge watching a bunch of your videos late into the night. I went to practice on the Nurburgring next day with my top time being 1.58.xxx. Focusing on many things you mentioned (throttle inputs were key) and in a few hours I was driving consistent laps 2 sec faster than my previous best with what felt like more control. I managed to smash my PB in every car I tried (even I couple I really suck in). Kinda amazed myself lol, so I had to come back and thank you very much for the great content and information! :)

This made me understand a lot what I'm doing wrong. I did learn to use all of the track as possible, but I always wondered how my lines are the same as faster drivers, but I'd be way slower. I felt it had to with my braking, as it is sloppy, which then makes me feel like the entry is very unstable and I never seem to find the rotation in the force feedback. I'm not sure whether my steering is too open or too closed though

@@sklew @Nils Naujoks Simracing This is so incredibly useful. The first student in the Aston is doing exactly what I do as an inexperienced driver (~2.5 months of sim racing). Too much steering input, committing to the turn too early and typically feeling more understeer in turns are hallmarks of my driving as well. Now I know why I'm always several sec off the pace. In races, I'd find myself exiting with a driver behind me, but they'd seem to pass me relatively easily on the straight. I could never figure out how they carried so much more speed than me. I chalked it up to inexperience. While that is true, I now understand how to fix it with some practice. Thank you so much for sharing!!

This is very interesting and helpful. Thanks a lot Nils. One of my problems is that can't get under the 1.50 mark at Monza and it drives me crazy. On top of that my favorite car is the Honda. Videos like this really help me understand the fundamentals of driving and I think that is the first ting to master. Also, will you be so kind and be the first on KZbin to actually talk about the setups of the car and explain what is important if the car oversteer or understeer and stability overall. I know the cars acts differently but I would love to know what the meaning of the individual things are ( dampers, downforce and so on ). I'm downloading setups and have no idea about how to drive the car to be successful with that setup. Again, you are the fucking GOAT when it comes to sim racing, and anything you might share I'm grateful for. Stay safe and thanks for the upload.

@@maineiacial the smallest any car has is 480 end to end, which likely would mean that with 320 the wheel in game turns more than your hands. also such low angles make the steering very sensitive and it will be extremely difficult to be precise and ever hit the correct steering angle. most likely you're never steering the amount you should, but too much or too little. and if you suffer from understeer, you likely steer too much while going too fast. it's a matter of perspective, no car understeers unless you go too fast. what a pro means when he feels understeer is that the front reaches the limit before the rear does. what everyone else means is: "I'm unwilling to accept the limits of the car."

Interesting videos and good driving my man ! I have ACC on standard PS4 and it’s OK for me. I can live without the graphics like the PC but the low 30 framerates causes headache for me especially driving in clear sunny and cloudy weather. Night driving is best. Can’t really drive 3h endurance race. Max 1h and then I must pause. I have a brandnew Samsung Qled 4K TV so the TV doesn’t causes the headache and eye fatigue. I really hope that there will be a Playstation 5 version of ACC with graphics like PC and higher framerates. Then I can race smoothly for more then 1h. A powerful gaming PC is like 5000 Euros and PS5 just 500 Euro so that’s very interesting. If it was for me I would like to have a 50.000 Euro Full Motion Sim Setup with Direct Drive wheelbase of Fanatec but yeah I only have Fanatec CSL Elite F1 Esports with loadcell pedals(which I am full satisfied of the set), a Playseat (where I am to tall and heavy for it 1m92 and 100kg to sit comfortable for more then 1h), 4K TV and a standard Playstation 4. I will only buy the PS5 JUST for ACC. It’s the best GT3 racing simulator. I’m really addicted to it especially when I book more and more results regarding fast laptimes, race wins either in max difficulty singleplayer or multiplayer, never get bored of the cars sounds, really immersive. I’m Platinum ranked with very high rating and it gives me a real satisfaction because ACC is a very precise simulation. Come on KUNOS bring ACC on PS5 with high graphics and high framerates. PEACE OUT & STAY SAFE EVERYBODY 💯

@@SimracingPopometer True I bought a Gaming PC of MSI and it’s quite powerful i7 10700K with RTX 2070 Super, 16 GB RAM I do most Epic Settings, mirrors quality and resolution epic and high with all 40 cars visible at night in heavy rain at SPA and I get no crazy framedrops. I get some framedrops at certain places of the circuit but it’s not disturbing. Offcourse with 30 cars on grid it’s totally fine. My PC can handle 40 cars all visible at the same time but 50 cars possible but with freezes here and there so I prefer max 40 grid size. Wanna upgrade to triple monitors but then I think I need to lower the settings down for smooth image. Oh yeah it was for 2000 Euros ready PC. But the new Nvidia 3090 Graphic Card cost as much as my whole PC so it never stops spending on the PC... I must stop here next purchase is Fanatec Podium DD2 with Simlab P1X with seat etc also another 2700 Euros... This simracing is as expensive like the real thing 😃

interesting that you ask because I think there's just an unwritten consensus. you want to stay within the white lines, you don't want to have car contact, you don't brake too late and lean on other cars, you respect other drivers (doesn't mean they do the same). Give up a position when you will lose the fight anyway and it only costs you time. you'll have to accept that you can't always just go forward in the rankings, others will be faster.

Is it just me who finds this hugely frustrating to watch? Would be great if you could explain and show more video of the corners.. you have right idea but these need greater explanation and exposition. IMO. Whilst majority find this clear I do not. Sorry to say. Needs more of each example because the coachee is driving well IMO so no obvious issue. Please make it clearer ;). I am more confused after watching this than educated. Sorry to say. Needs work. Nice idea…..
