Finally over $2000 on my 90 day mostly selling clothes from the bins and putting in low part time hours! Great extra income 🙏
@bennystratton77348 ай бұрын
well part time is about 20 hours a week x 12 weeks (90 days) most states have minimum wage of $15 per hour that's $3600 for 90 days (before taxes taken out of a Paycheck) so just stating Low part time hours and not stating what your minimum wage is in your state You might be making peanuts AFTER all business EXPENSES and FEES you really need to count everything you pay for for your business (gas, Cost of goods, Electric, internet, Phone, Supplies list goes on and on all this adds up real quick for your monthly business expenses) deduct that from your eBay NET and then you get your true net and then see is it really worth it to you the time and effort you put into it
@stevenjames32428 ай бұрын
@@bennystratton7734 Instead of kicking someone down, how about saying "wow, that is great" Low part time btw would be 10-15 NOT 20. Also as of Jan.1,2024 only EIGHT states have a minimum wage of $15 or above. EIGHT! More are following, but, not for awhile. As for your other EXPENSES... Electricity well you use that anyway whether on eBay or not so that is not an expense. Same with Phone/Internet After all, you do not sit in the dark and do nothing while not on eBay correct, which is why you can only claim a percentage of those. Same with Gas, don't be silly and go out specifically to thrift, Go while doing everything else AND claim it. I go when we go shopping OR it is all done right here from my laptop and shipped to me. Since he said he was LOW PART TIME I am pretty sure that he is probably in profit. When you are full time, MAYBE you should consider that, however, once again, Unless you have a warehouse/office It is STILL things that you would be using anyway and paying out. These are things you have Business or NOT. Which Again, is why you can only claim a percentage. I consider it a gift from eBay when I do my taxes! LMAO. I would also go on and say THAT 90 DAY never matches up with the monthly statements from that DO take out the fees, it is usually LOWER.

I have been selling on ebay and amazon for over 20 years. Sales have tanked. So, my theory is: Weather is affecting EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE. Extreme weather has caused many of our buyers to refocus their spending from non critical needs. Major Snow, Freezing temps, Horrific rain, mudslides, heck, even earthquakes and volcanoes etc. etc. I'm sure part of the loss of sales has to do with people prioritizing what they are buying... to me, this is part of the issue. Personally... since my sales have tanked, I have one word that I'm focusing on right now: PIVOT. I am trying to pivot to find things that are different than what I normally sell. I'm watching more videos getting ideas on what people might want to buy. I am a one person show and I cannot imagine after 20+ years doing this, moving to a "regular" job. I am 64 and I LIKE being home and not having a boss. :-) While people's needs seem to be changing, I need to change too.

I'm with you Jane! i have been doing this full time since 98' went full time on amazon eBay and yahoo auctions but i didn't stop there i have basically been on every new platform since then besides whatnot and district whatnot because i just use it to source (and not from Social media influencers that is the only way you can make it on what not if you have a following) i source from the lesser know sellers that are basically giving away there items. I learned 25 years ago to make diversifciaotn the center of you business diversify where you sell, what you sell, the price points what you sell your items if you do all that and let diversification be the center of your business then you will never have to worry it will always keep you afloat because if your on 10 platforms have you own website do face to face sales via FB marketplace, craigslist, Setting up at flea markets and shows (heck even have weekly yard sales) then you are SAFE guarding your Business for the LONG haul i have done this for 25 years and god willing i hope to do it another 25 BUT those that are EBAY only or EBAY or bust that is the worst thing you can do also those that think NICHING down is the way to go NO NO NO YOU NEED TO NICH UP again DIVERSIFCAITION you want to sell everything so when one thing is not selling OTHERS WILL and they will as the saying goes carry the team! Over 25 years I have learned in reselling both online and offline NOTHING is every consistent day to day even week to week! what matters is what you have after all expenses at the end of the month to pay your personal bills IF YOU can do that and you love what you do then you should not feel like you have worked a day in your life! for 25 years i have felt like i have been on a vacation and if i do this another 25 im going to feel the same way! i love what i do and get paid for it some days less some days more but at the end of the month as long as i made my goals IM GOOD! no worries!

We’ve also been acquiring a lot of good inventory lately on Facebook Marketplace, so hoping that this will help us boost sales once we get these items listed.

This last week has suddenly slowed down, but I'm still learning, and rather than worry about it, I will work on optimizing my listings. Part of me wonders if there are a lot of other new resellers getting into it; you figure if the rate of sellers and items is growing faster than buyers, then naturally, demand would decrease in general for any one seller. In regards to uranium glass, the uniqueness of the item is a big factor. If it's just a standard little bowl or cup or whatever, it might not even be worth the trouble of listing. Especially if the person you buy it from knows what it is; they'll probably ask for so much that you'll have no chance making a profit. For uranium glass, it needs to be an odd type of piece. Those candlesticks are a great example of something that is unusual enough to grab attention. Especially being a matched pair and undamaged.

I have not paid that promotion fee yet, but maybe for your items it’s needed??
@kristirose22898 ай бұрын
@@silverman5707 I didn’t do it for a long time and then decided to give it a try at 2%. I don’t think it’s worth it so I’m about to cancel all promoted listings.

I think it comes down to flexibility of your business. I'm not a niche seller though there are categories I do gravitate towards. But I'm continually exploring different categories to sell and am also ready to dump things that don't. Whatever I find a good deal on that I think is sellable, I'll give it a try. Sometimes the adventure is a flop but it's cost of doing business. Overall, that willingness to change has kept me afloat, growing, and profitable.

I have worked about half my adult life in small businesses and no matter how well they do they all have peaks and valleys. How they handle it is how they flourish or fizzle. I keep poking along and I keep getting better bit by bit but you always have to keep in mind it’s going to be dead now and then. Several of my friends and family also resell more get in all the time. I just try to keep them grounded because they’re not going to get rich quick unless they just luck out right off the bat.

Up and down like a carousel, that's what selling on ebay is. I honestly think there are too many marketplaces and people got to the easies and most know, Amazon and eBay, IMHO. Ride that carousel and make it work.

Good morning, I've been back (took a six year break) selling on Ebay for a year now part time and find it ebb and flows.

I don’t see reselling going down. So many good wells and thrift stores are becoming expensive. You have retail stores that are so high any more you’d be lucky you could afford anything. The economy has been dropping but I believe people don’t have time to source. Therefore, they are coming to resellers.

I still something everyday. 16 for the weekend which is good. I hear lots of complaints on eBay but I think that the economy and increased resellers are playing a big factor. Too much stuff and not enough buyers.

Sales are not consistent I’m always looking for more platforms .. it’s not just eBay it’s all platforms but I expect eBay to support us more in hard times with coupons and advertising as they used to! The interest rates make like tough no extra cash! AI has screwed everything up even search doesn’t work properly on all my platforms ! Now every big online seems to be adding promoted to grift from its resellers! Bad move .. poshmark started it and it’s horrible totally destroyed sales! I’m not happy that the big concerns like Walmart & Amazon have the monopoly which destroys our businesses by taking over search top placement!

We’ve Got To Fight For Our Right To Resell!!!!! 💪🏼❤😂 it just cracked me up when you said that earlier, and it reminded me of what Travis Kelce said when they won the game to play in the Super Bowl…..😂 That’s Great Stuff! Thank You Kevin!! You All Our So Wonderful! I just love the way you think….

I think it’s the COVID bubble. I don’t see it going away. I’m in a large group of resellers. Some folks are just complainers. You find them in every job. With that being said, I resell as a hobby. It’s not something I think I would want to do full time. I like knowing that I will get paid a certain amount every month.

When you say " I Don't want to go back to teaching" What you you mean is teaching what you used to teach. You are just using your natural prediliction to educate, to teach reselling in a life integrated way. Thanks

You have to remember- the longer you're reselling, the older and more desirable collectable items get. Clothing, cds, etc. And to quote the late great Chris Farley- I got noplace else to goooo. Lol. Reseller or bust, for me.
