I absolutely love Link’s story in these games. It’s so heartbreaking and tragic. It was honestly such a smart thing to do for Nintendo to have him wake up with no memory in the beginning of botw, (which for me I personally liked cuz it was my first loz game ever) and discover everything at the same time as the character. You discover his past with him, you figure out this strange world with him. You discover who he is, what he lost, and what he is truly fighting for. And you succeed, but it’s bittersweet. But there’s hope. She’s back, and you can live your life together. Take back what was lost over the 100 years. Then, he loses everything again with Zelda in totk, and his whole quest becomes about finding Zelda. The main quest you complete at the end if the game isn’t defeating ganon or saving hyrule, it’s saving Zelda. She is his whole world by that point, and he lost her. I cried ugly tears at the end of totk cuz I have been on this journey with link since the beginning. And I know how much he has gone through to save her and keep her safe.

I agree with you! Whenever I play the boss fight and the ending of TotK, I cry so much... It's so much more than just "save Hyrule"... After all they've been through in BotW, their bond has grown stronger and stronger... And then you lose her at the beginning of TotK. You "fail"... She's gone. Later on you learn about her fate and it seems as if she's gone forever... It's heartbreaking! But then you get a second chance. You can make up for what you've "messed up" at the beginning of the game... You can catch her. Get her back... And this is such a strong moment! She saves you and you save her... Just beautiful 🥹

Commenters on the story always seem to gloss the real significance of Hateno's defense. With the champions all defeated, the kingdom ruined and no victorious endgame in sight, Link runs to the defense of his small hometown. It seems that would be Link's impulse, rather than Zelda's, who might have considered Akkalla Citadel more important, but urges Link to the defense of the little people -- His little people-- instead. @ivanm8682Ай бұрын
Same, I don’t think they’re the same entity at all… Calamity Ganon seems to be more powerful, I mean, the four beams of the divine beasts only took half of its life, I don’t think Ganondorf would be able to withstand that. My theory is that Calamity Ganon is the hatred and malice of the old, original Ganondorf from OOT, WW and TP and has nothing to do with this new incarnation that Rauru fought. Besides, they referenced OOT events in BOTW in the Zora monuments and Urbosa talked about them too, and Zelda also said that CG had been born in a distant past, so, to me, that says it all. Besides, I feel like the monks would have known about the corpse if it had anything to do with CG, and the yiga clan wouldn’t have worshipped it either.

There are two things that make Mipha such a sweet figure and tragic hero to the Zora: 1. Mipha does have feelings for Link since childhood but she could not bring it up to fruition as he did not romantically love the Zora Princess. Perhaps only to see her as a special childhood friend. 2. Knowing that Link is very closed to Zelda and the Princess of Hyrule is unable to unlock her power since she carries the blood of the Goddess Hylia, Mipha shares what is going on in her mind. Before interrupting Ganon’s return, Mipha insists that her feelings for Link is what activated her healing abilities. As that same goes: magic wielders required a strong motivation. And the final final memory in Breath of the Wild and in Age of Calamity is proof that Zelda’s love for Link is the catalyst in unlocking her powers. Mipha is such a sweet cinnamon that deserves better. Lucky, Sidon travel to an to another reality and saved his sister from a Waterblight Ganon Regardless of Nintendo is stating that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is non-canon, I hope the Zelda can make a sequel is it’s possible that Ganondorf’s existence is in the timeline Terrako has created. I would recommend looking up the side quests required for it in case I’m wrong. Also so you can look up the locations of the cuccos because I always forget one cucco no matter how many times I have played and it drives me nuts. Why is there a cucco not technically even in the village like it’s above the village on a hill by the shrine? Yes I am still mad about that. Also don’t use korok leaves because if you hit the cuccos with it too many times they will try to kill you.

While we don’t have anywhere as near as much cutscene evidence as Ze-Link, there is still some fairly compelling evidence. The fact that the Zora royalty treat him like he’s already family (King dorophan in particular seems absolutely certain that they loved each other and this was after he went mute.) we also know that in one memory in particular link went out of his way to spend some alone time with Mipha despite being Zelda’s bodyguard. The only way Zelda could be rid of Link was by going into gerudo town, a place where no man was allowed, and even then he almost certainly stayed by the nearby Cara Cara basar and almost certainly patrolled the outside of the town frequently, and while he did have memories alone with Revali and Daruk, they seemed like they where quick conversations with Zelda being just offscreen of the camera somewhere, maybe talking with the elders of their respective villages or something, whereas with Mipha he’s alll the way in that other lake on the trunk of Vah Ruta just chilling with his “friend” whom he has known all his life, he took long deliberate time out of his extreme service to Zelda to be with her. My last point that I can remember of the top of my head is the engagement Tunic… huh that would’ve made for a good in-game name for the zora tunic.. anyway my point is that if I where to propose to someone I’d be dead certain that they’d say yes, and I certainly wouldn’t randomly propose to someone I’m not even courting/dating. I find it extremely unlikely that Mipha would propose if she did not know if Link had feelings for her, I know what I have presented is rather small compared to the amount of implied Ze-Link evidence but in all fairness a lot of it can be explained with either being her knight or a close friend whereas you can’t really explain an engagement ring as no one would be stupid enough to propose to someone who they aren’t even dating… ok well I don’t think Mipha would be that dumb anyway. With both sides of the story in consideration I’d say…. At this point? First come first served I guess? I mean at the moment I’m taking strictly before the 100 year time skip and I’m ignoring age of calamity as.. I haven’t played it yet and it’s non canon anyway. TL;DR: ultimately none of what I’ve just said particularly matters as Mipha is dead and by the time totk comes out he’s probably moved onto Zelda as it has been a considerable amount of time since botw. Honestly I just thought I’d say this because it ads more tragedy to Link’s story: the woman who he initially loved (and was probably willing to marry) died far far away from him while he had to fulfill his duty to his princess and (extremely) close friend, only to be revived 100 years later with no memory of her, but also the memory’s he does get back must be next to nothing of the amount of time they spend together; only being able to completely remember Zelda as she was the one taking photos, the only thing he can do, is move on, then with the time between games (which seems to be multiple years) he falls in love with Zelda, who then goes back in time and commits dragoncide. I honestly prefer this version of events it feels more tragic as this way the only two women he loved is in some way taken away from him (I know Zelda is saved in the end but still.) it’s also nice since that way it’s not ANOTHER Ze-Link cannon- actually wait, how many Ze-Links are there? Skyward Sword is practically canon, oot link probably goes back to the ranch girl, same with twilight unless midna? And wait I’m getting way of track and this is already too long TL;DR;FRFR: it in my opinion makes for a better story if Link and Mipha are a thing pre 100 years, then for Ze-link to happen so that way both women Link lived get taken away from him and why am I spending so long on a comment no one will even read???

Though I beat TOTK when it came out, I am learning several new things here. I stumbled upon the Yiga leader's hideout by accident and beat him, and did not do any of that yiga storyline. Lol I did not know that the Deku Tree directs you to the Master Sword and that he says it is moving. I never had that conversation with him. I never went to find the Koroks underground (I think) and certainly never beat a Phantom Ganon until I ran into the ones inside Hyrule Castle. I went after the light dragon the moment I got the tear that hinted that it was Zelda. I noticed she was going toward a sky island that looked close enough to her, so I used rockets and ascend to make my way up to the top of that high up island and then jumped down on to dragon Zelda's head. To my surprise... the Master Sword was there. I just so happened to have enough stamina at the time to pull the sword from her head. That was a wild discovery to me, and I will always remember that.

hmmm imo Oot Link hits the hardest - As a kid he is interwined with great destiny he wasn't prepare for - As an adult he is not only lost his 7 years, he became a kid in a man's body, watching his friends drifting away, some became sages, and the entire Hyrule in ruins because Link opens the Scared Realm, allows Dorf to claim ToP and dragging his balls across Hyrule. - After Dorf's defeat, Link was sent back in time to prevent Ganondorf, however he lost his partner Navi, the Kokiri disappears as Link grew older, he regret cannot pass down lessons of his life because either his kids are not worthy/strong enough or he was died too soon. ( i left out the part "he regret being forgotten as a Hero" part because Oot Link did not lived for glory nor fame)

If BOTW/TOTK are indeed at the end of the timelines the final battle with Ganondorf does feel like it has some sort of finality in it, from the war in the depths, to the 1-1 sword battle as numerous musical ques from previous ganon battles play in the background, to the final dragon battle in the sky. i got emotional my first time beating it.
@javiervasquez625Ай бұрын
And yet we saw him back in Echoes of Wisdom, almost as if Aonuma and the Zelda Team are telling us how integral of a character Ganondorf is for him to ever be vanquished for good. He is to Link and Zelda what Bowser is to Mario and Peach, so there's no way this is the last time we'll be seeing him.
@GeekMuscleАй бұрын
@javiervasquez625 no. The difference is Echoes has a timeline placement. We know he will be back for Zelda 1. Breath and tears have no placement, simply that it takes places centuries after the timelines (any of the three). It's why I felt it had finality. I know obviously it won't, however at this point in time. It feels that way since there's nothing after this story arc.
@javiervasquez625Ай бұрын
@@GeekMuscle Regardless of the timeline placement, the fact remains: Aonuma and co. brought him to the spotlight despite having no narrative reason to do so as per _Null_ been the game's main antagonist. The entire game Ganon could have sat down and not appear whatsoever, the story not changing in any way with his complete omission from the storyline. The fact that Aonuma felt compelled to shove him into a storyline in which he played no central role to the narrative proves that to him and Nintendo he's that _iconic_ and popular of a character, for him to ever be permanently removed from the franchise. Echoes of Wisdom utterly confirms this to be true wether you admit it or not.
@GeekMuscleАй бұрын
@javiervasquez625 nobody is disagreeing with that fact homie lol I'm just saying for the self contained story of those two games. Those set of characters. Since it's too far in the timeline to even matter.

This Link is one of the least emotional Links. Yet, he’s still my second favourite. I’m a sucker for a Link with a tragic story. The Hero of Time is obviously gonna be my favourite because of how unjustly sad his life and death was. The Hero of The Wild is my second because of how he lost. He died to Ganon 100 years before the game even began, as did all of his friends, his love, his family, they all died. When he finally defeated Ganon, he was a hero in the eyes of people he didn’t even know, he didn’t recognize the girl he loved, he didn’t remember the family he lost. So good. Here’s to the next Link having a tragic story too lmao

For the next generation of Nintendo system, I hoped we get to see the return of the Era of the Wild’s Link and Zelda with a proper conclusion of their story. Plus, a TOTK side story where we get to play as Zelda as we explore more of the Era of Hyrule’s Founding, and the events before and during the Imprisoning War.

You seriously asking for Nintendo (and players) to endure the _same world map_ all over again a second time...? Are you aware of how much tired the communiy at large is to even entertain the idea of going back to the same Hyrule and the same Link and Zelda, just to waste another 4 years of development going back to the same world and characters? It ain't happening, let it go.
@a.jthomas6132Ай бұрын
@@javiervasquez625 and are you aware that there are pieces of the Wild Era needs to be fill in like the additional contents from the master works that should’ve been in Tears of the Kingdom? It sounds like you care about gameplay rather than storytelling, lore, and worldbuilding just like the rest of Nintendo staff members. There are so many ways TOTK could’ve done better like allowing players to play as Zelda in the distant past seeing more of Hyrule’s history, how the Shiekah is formed as a tribute in honoring King Rauru, or how the Divine Beasts are build as way to pay homage to the Ancient Sages that would led to the first Great Calamity. Having no DLC and Master Mode is a big mistake!

I don't know his life really seem tragic or sad. Based on the lore we get in games he was naturally talented and brave but still humble. He seemed to have friends all over and did his job at protecting Zelda seriously. They never state his age but I'm guessing around Zelda so late teens to early 20s and basically up until Calamity Ganon returned he had a pretty decent life. After he was nearly killed he just slept peacefully for 100 years then awoke and defeated Calamity Ganon presumable in only a few weeks to months then went back to guarding and helping Zelda for a few years then the events of ToTK which overall probably again a few weeks or so. I mean he clearly cares for Zelda and she obviously returns his feelings, he's well respected throughout Hyrule and clearly has many friends so until they drop a new entry that takes place later I think his life is pretty good for one of the Hero's incarnations.
