Reader’s Digest is a monthly magazine. I first discovered it at my grandparents’ house and now I have a subscription. I didn’t know they used to do animations. There’s also puzzles in the back.

There’s another interesting if tragic bit of information on how Andersen made the little mermaid in the first place that is actually related to his own life. Hans Andersen was at the very least bisexual and was in love with a friend of his Edvard Collin describing it in his diary and some letters, unfortunately Collin didn’t feel the same and Andersen was heart broken when Collin finally got engaged, with Andersen unable to express his feelings out in public about the whole thing. So one can easily piece together where some of Little mermaids influence came from.

FYI, if no one is aware, the reason The Little Mermaid gets eaten up by sharks in Shrek 2 is because the CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg disapproved of The Little Mermaid’s direction when he was a chairman at Disney. He ended up leaving and the film turned out to be a huge success. His pettiness towards the success of the movie is clearly seen by the Shrek 2 scene and its recent movie Ruby Kraken where the antagonist bears a striking resemblance to Ariel. 😂😂

You worked at Disney?! That's cool! Also, Reader's Digest is a magazine, but I guess you're too young to know it. I didn't know they did animation, though. Also, Saber Spark had often mentioned how terrible The Asylum animation studio is. And Phelous and the Movies had also reviewed the Good Times version of The Little Mermaid. Apparently, he hated it. I remember seeing another negative review of that version of the movie, "The Little Mermaid Remake Everyone Should be Mad About," but I forget who made it. But I'm not familiar with shows such as Ever After High, or Simsala Grimm, since my sister and I weren't kids in the 2000s, or even the 2010s. The Shrek parody is actually pretty funny! I also disagree that they took "little things" only, there are plenty of additions in japanese version from original story Disney took a liberty to steal. Which is the most ironic considering they have all those policies about their own characters. Same with Disney version. They completely changed the original story's ending, which places this version to the last place for me automatically.

During the whole winter the couple grow to love the snow girl and spend a lot of time together with her. Alas the winter soon came to an end and the snowgirl tell them she has to travel to a colder land. The couple beg her to stay and the snowgirl give in. As spring arrived with it's warmth the snow girl began to melt. No matter how much her parents tried to prevent it she soon began a puddle. After losing their pride and joy the couple held on to her memory with sorrow and warmth while spring turned to summer. After august had passed it become winter once again and one chilling winter morning they heard childish laughter a familiar voice calling for them from outside. Once outside they cried, laughed and rejoiced while greeting her with welcoming arms. The little snow girl was not a human child and couldn't always live by their side but nothing would stop her from returning each winter and bring them much love and joy.
