I just put in a Meiwa, which is apparently the only Kumquat with both sweet skin and sweet flesh. Can’t wait to try the fruit.

Great info! I just bought calamondin to use as lemons. I already have the kumquat for 3 years. I love that you compared the taste for... a citrus sommelier?😂❤

it's not that we prefer them green, it's just that calamansi don't ripen orange in our country coz it's too damn hot here. we usually pick them whenever we need a few.

Daleys are being misleading on their label George, as botanically a Calamondin is not a kumquat of any type. Calamondin is Citrus x Macrocarpa ( or synonym C x Mitis ) whereas Kumquat depending on shape and place of origin is Fortunella Margarita , Fortunella Japonica or Fortunella Obovata. The difference is of course that true kumquats have sweet peel and in some cases ( Meiwa ) sweet flesh whereas Calamansi are bitter everywhere. My ( ex ) wife is Filipina and it's probably the most used citrus in the Philippines in drinks, cooking and an air freshener in public toilets, I suspect purely because it grows well in their warmer climate. Interestingly she grew up in the UK from the age of 11 and can't stand Calamansi and doesn't use it at all 😂😂
