Its ultra rare to get rockstar games interviews, so when we get one I appreciate it very much. I would love a 30 plus minute interview with dan houser on the history of rockstar and his writing, as well as leslie

Sadly both of them left the company and left the gta6 in dark.
@BMS_ Жыл бұрын
@@Andrewtate200 Yes they left, however, I would say Dan specially has had an impact on GTA VI, specially history wise. Considering Leslie left on 2016, I doubt he had any impact on it as he was forced out by the Houser brothers and he was more a game lead development, he knew how to get things done. Dan it's a different case, he officially left on 2020 but he was already out in 2019 , considering his role comes in pre-production as well, I would say between 2014-2019 he probably was in charge of the history of GTA VI, and I will even say he is part of other games that are still in development (RDR3, Bully 2????)

@@wsean0347 Based on what's been leaked it was in development. It was cancelled due to GTA Online success and then GTA VI development focus. Rockstar all development power is creating GTA VI, but after that's out, it might take 2 years but I would still leave a possibility for Bully 2 to come.

I really hope that Rockstar Games nowadays can find people who also believe in these games as Leslie and Dan did. My biggest fear is that Rockstar Games will change to a bad direction. I enjoy these games for years because they make everything different compared to other companies. But who can be called a Rockstar when the name itself is related to a person who don't work with them anymore? But it could be also a chance to have some new people in it. Maybe bring up ideas that won't happend under Leslie or Dan. The tiny details, the story writing and all those pieces binded together is what R* made what they are now. They should not forget they identity. Even in extreem political times.

@@datcleanboy-982 I didn't said they will. I said that it is my fear that they will. What is a bad direction? Well, spitting the old grown fanbase again in the face to make Rockstar Games become a lower standard game producer. Or in other words, destroying they own history and with it, its relevants. So that it one day they are forced to sell they company to someone, which would be then the dead of Rockstar Games.

I've been looking forward to this full interview all week! It's amazing how they were so few people involved at the beginning of GTA IIIs Development and it just kept evolving into something big. It just shows what a group of like-minded and passionate individuals can accomplish when they believe in the project! Even though the American media literally bashed them for their ideas. Listening to this makes me have hopes I can one day form a studio of my own. I find it intriguing how Red Harlow's story was formed with them just by the bandage present on Red's character model. I'm very happy Rockstar acquired the Red Dead franchise from Capcom. Without it, we wouldn't have engaging tales such as John Marston and Aurthur Morgans today! It's also fascinating how the Deadeye mechanics which is now a staple of the series was influenced by no other than Max Payne! Sam Lake is an absolute legend and Remedy made the right choice getting Rockstar to port the games! It's like each project was setting the foundation for the next and were key building blocks that formed not only each Rockstar Game but cemented those blocks for the industry to grow! You gotta emit that's pretty cool. Sam really had an incredible vision! It's also nice to have some clearance on why Ray Liotta had issues with Vice City's production. After hearing what Jamie said it must have been something else working with all these amazing talents. You can just tell by the man's tone he thoroughly enjoyed his time working on these projects! I can kinda see where Jamie is coming from on the BBC documentary and the Book jacked. There is so much that goes behind the scenes making these games a reality one person's perspective does not justify the whole experience. But it's nice to know they hold some sort of credibility in their own rights. Music-wise I can also see why licensing would be an issue. Makes sense why they probably didn't get those back for the Definitive editions! Rockstar however has developed many firm relationships with various music studios and artists over the years. It's a real blessing to be in that position especially now. As for the multiplayer side of things, It was indeed a smart move to wait. But it's awesome to know Rockstar wasn't against the idea back then! It just blows me away the amount of ambition they had for these games! It's just a shame how Take two has smeared this beloved company's reputation like a dog turd on a shoe! But despite all that this just makes me have more and more respect for their vision and ambitions in the early days! They truly were the Rockstars of the gaming world! Overall this interview was amazingly insightful! I enjoyed every single second of it! Thank you for publishing it Killaz and more importantly THANK YOU JAMIE FOR EVERYTHING!

I think a sadness, but at the same time a reality, is starting to creep up on me. We may have already witnessed the peak of Rockstar Games. Everything peaks at one point, especially in gaming. I just thought we would get another 2 or 3 more greater and greater titles but the shareholders preferred to milk GTA V and the creative minds have started to love bit by bit. Hopefully I am wrong though...

It depends what you consider “the peak”. For some people the peak is seeing random IP’s like manhunt, bully created every other year For some people its seeing a level of depth and reverence for westerns encapsulated in games like RDR2 Incredible things have happened in the industry during R*’s come up but the best may be yet to come. Yes, GTA O is predatory and pretty crap. No fun flying around in futuristic ufo’s and throwing sticky bombs around, but the single player is still the best possible entertainment experience you can have… period.

At 37:21 I had to finally burst out and say: Thank you everyone who worked on MTA's "BLUE" Project, without that things would have turned out different. Kalcor, the dude who (!mainly!) took rights in the SA-MP project, not coding it alone, but with very clever minds. Y-Less, and CJ9000 and everyone else. Spookie, spmn, zeex, but kalcor mentioned in an 2015/6 post on the forums about the story. He parted ways with other gta modders because he had other goals with the modding. "It makes the game look different, it's a multiplayer for gta sa - not a game engine which you can script". But his mod is the most played mod, on Instagram I see comments about SA-MP, not MTA.. But we can also but them together and say; they molded how gta is seen today. I played multiplayer back in 2010, and have to say it's never been fully able to see how GTA V Multiplayer mods were commercially growing and making people profits! I was glad to know a youtube creator in 2012-14 who made sa-mp reallife let's plays and that I could write a gamemode script for him, but now streamers are sitting on their ass somewhere in a nice ass apartment in madeira and chill the f out on their ad revenues they gain from streaming gta rp. Of course this over-shoot of success in a modding scene did it for me, and I stopped playing this because it lost the sense and feeling it had for me back then, but for other yungsters who discover gta v rp and eventually grow up to a programmer and making a living, whiling having a damn good time on the side with gta .. it is the same like it was for me, but they have a greater historic background to check up on. I searched around the internet for GTA modding threads that were old AF just to get how it all became what it is. Why was I so fascinated as a 13 year old, playing san andreas and discovering a roleplay server and a whole mod that was a new game to me basically. How did this end up me gaining knowledge in Reverse Enegineering and Network Programming? For anyone getting it, it's what made the mod even possible. Now these topics of education can be picked up like camtasia crack tutorials on youtube, and I see why. It's life changing for the one, while just blending out a stessfull life, playing some RP - for the other. It makes sense. Not to mention alexander blade, this dude is a fucking hero to so many modders. A menace to T2 sadly. All this even transfered to other gaming communities! Like for example in ETS2/ATS, they made a mod that packed with two different type of multiplayer support for each game. Providing public lobbies for all to play online. It was very laggy and desynced for the beginning.. but dude I remember how I just wanted to play this game because of the mod. IT MAKES SENSE. The problem simply is as a company with no matter how many employees such as writers,QA staff and programmers, you can not make up what an indivual back in their little life is thinking of while playing a game, trying make the idea a reality by modding the game. It's the plot thats there before the game engine, that you can not come up with as a commercial/producitve plan.
@fxlltxtsearch Жыл бұрын
I remember playing SA-MP when I was young. There was this special feeling of logging into something that looked like limewire to play a proprietary game from a major studio, who - no disrespect to them at all, san andreas is amazing - were not able to ship a multiplayer aspect. Which of course, so complex. No way they could have shipped it back then. But to be plugging into a niche community powered by highly niche software techs and hackers making an unofficial online component. That feeling. Unmatched. Your perspectives are so relevant. Incredibly relevant in these days so close after the GTA 6 trailer. The MTA project showed everyone, including R* what multiplayer could be. I always felt R* came to respect the modding community, especially with FiveM, considering their legal statement authorizing it and then later with their purchase of that team. How do you think R* will support the Cfx team? Do you think GTA O will be two tiered with SixM to go with it? Or will R* encourage them to build roleplayer features into vanilla GTA?
